We really enjoyed our stay in the delightful secluded Barnhouse. The house is in a beautiful setting surrounded by mountains, trees and meadows. This is a relaxed informal house that exudes character and charm. Inside, the house is spacious and full of nooks and crannies just begging to be explored. There are lots of windows which make the most of the views and outside there are plenty of places to sit and relax and watch the deer and the birds. It’s original, enchanting and charming and it is more like a home than a rental. Thanks Mouna.

Oct. 13, 2008 Dear Mouna,
Thank you for this lovely old Barnhouse. We have had a pleasant stay here. We found peace and quiet, as well as a sense of adventure in exploring this place--the coolest playhouse ever.
We’ve enjoyed gazing at the sweet, graceful deer, the beautiful trees, mountains and sky, listening to records while cuddled under the colorful afghan on the balcony’s big cozy papasan chair, and watching the light of dawn creep in through the big upstairs picture window.
What an enchanting place this is. We hope to visit this Barnhouse again! It was so nice to meet you--it would have been nice to stay a bit longer and chat with you!
Best wishes from us to you, Karin, Bob, and Buddy (the dog)

We agree with the many positive and perceptive comments found here regarding the Barnhouse. If you like peace and quiet, enjoy many nooks, a vigorous afternoon breeze, deer and squirrels in the meadow, the opportunity to play a few tunes on a piano or organ and have catholic tastes in books, furniture, and china, and are fine climbing a few stairs now and then and being a few miles down a twisty-turny road that starts about 8 miles from Ashland, you are likely, as we were, to thoroughly enjoy the Barnhouse. Mouna manages to be helpful without being intrusive. |

| We just returned from the most wonderful vacation at the barn house- Our group of 9 ( 4 adults, 5 kids ages 9 mos to 8 yo)had an amazing time. The location is great - close enough to ashland for day trips but still feels seculuded and rural - the land is beautiful with views of shasta and lots of bird life. The house very clean and is full of treasures and fun for everyone - books and music and games, comfortably heated by the stove, with a well stocked kitchen. Lots of nooks and crannies to play and sleep in. Kids loved the outdoor playhouse and bubble supplies on the deck. Mona is a charming and delightful host. |

| We had a fabulous time staying in the barnhouse. We met up with old friends from Michigan, and between the two families there were 4 adults and 5 kids. There was no lack of places to gather, places to be alone, fun things to do and read and play and look at and cook with in the house. It was an inviting, funky, comfortable, and wholly accommodating place. Thanks, Mouna!! Can't wait to return someday . . |

| What a treasure Mouna's place is. We spent our mornings hiking the grounds greeted by deer, mountains, trees, and quails. We spent our late afternoons each finding a secret place to be alone in the house and read, play piano, chant, think, relax... And our evenings started out with a dinner in the wonderful dining room and a kitchen that has every conceivable thing you may need. And the night ended with a spectacluar show of a starry sky with shooting stars. It was home and we'll be back. |

Homeowner Response:
What a pleasure it is to have more guests who appreciate the Barnhouse for what it is--a home away from home. That was my intention from the outset, and it delights me to see that my vision is coming true. I will welcome you back with open arms!

Mouna, We had too little time here but loved the early mornings and nights we spent. Your house has thousands of stories to tell and so many lovingly placed details. We felt like honoured guests in a home full of history-- the owner/host having just gone away for a weekend. Thank you, Jane and Ray

A very inviting homey place with many charming corners where you find comfort and surprises: a bay window with lots of pillows and books, a balcony facing mountains and forests where you can spend the afternoon reading your favorite book...It was an ideal place for us to get away from the busy life, to spend time with kids, to have the regular visit of deers, and go to bed with a window over our bed to watch the skyful of stars...Our 2 year old kept finding new toys, musical instruments, and great books to keep him happy...The kitchen is well equipped and inviting to prepare a nice meal.
A wonderful and very original place where we hope to be back next year. |

I loved staying at the barnhouse! It is spacious (yes you really can sleep 9) yet it is cozy and perfect for 2. It's full of all kinds of hidden treasures. What can I say except it feels like home. Mouna is awesome. She is truly the hostess with the most-ess. As I have stayed here in the winter and in the summer, I can attest that anytime of the year is extremely beautiful and peaceful. In the winter, it was snowing and postcard picturesque. I expected Burl Ives to show up and sing "Frosty" at any moment. Summertime at the barnhouse deeply nourished my city-weary soul and reacquainted me with the fecundity of nature. There were fireflies and greenery in abundance. I can only say thanks Mouna, for sharing this with all of us. |

| We absolutely fell in love with this place! The windows look out onto an expansive, but very private meadow surrounded by trees. The hiking was fabulous and our dog pretty much refused to leave. Inside, you will never tire of exploring all of the nooks and cranies. Though you may have looked in one of these nooks a hundred times, you will always discover a new treasure. The house clearly reflects the warmth and serenity of its owner. We are already planning our next visit! |

Welcome! The barnhouse finds you here. She is old and very much alive and has her tendencies. What have you brought her? She stands poised to offer you light and air and wonder hidden in the tiniest corner. Did you look? Outside is inside. The windsong in the pine races through every open window and at night Cassiopeia wheels around in the upstairs bedroom window. Her structures are frail yet she holds together. Do you feelthe love in the footsteps that walked here before you? Bring WONDER, take PEACE, and may your path lead here again.

Ghosts of fog lift to unveil the sun and a very unique vacation rental. A clearing in the woods, pristine mountain air, renovated barn with huge windows frame everchanging pastoral scenes: Morning--deer breakfast beneath everygreen saplings; mid-day--fields of blue bachelor buttons dance with gentle breezes; evening--brings moonrises and shooting stars.
Each room is decorated with "grandmother's treasures." Whether a single, couple, or family of five, every nook and cranny offers delightful discoveries. Three stories of open spaces, cascading plants, firm beds, a warm wood stove, washer/dryer, fully equipped kitchen.
In any season, the past joins hands with today's comforts to create a magical visit.
"Thanks for being there! I'll be back!" Lari Doughty p.s. "Bad Taste"? No way! Everything is tastefully done, with innovative, rustic charm.

| I have never felt so comfortable and at home than when I've stayed at Mouna's Bad Taste B&B! It's a beautiful, comfortable, and casual haven - so quiet, and such lovely views from all those windows! The house has so many delightful little decorative surprises, and a fun collection of books, and I had a great time playing the big old upright piano. We recommend this place to anyone who wants a serene getaway, and Mouna's such a nice woman! |
