We stayed at the Black Squirrel Manor over labor day weekend in 2006 -- and we had an awesome family reunion there. The house is spectacular and very homey. Every comfort taken into consideration -- a nice kitchen with attached dining room that is great for big family meals, very nice comfy common areas including an awesome sunroom and a cozy sitting room with fireplace, perfectly sized "vacation" bedrooms (most with queen beds), a badminton court for the kids, and gorgeous landscaping with lots of grass to lay on and ponder the lake -- there was also an outdoor fireplace for s'mores and gas and charcoal grills. The "manor" (which is turning 100 soon) has lots of vintage charm (original leaded glass in the kitchen windows) even though it has been recently updated and is very well maintained. We couldn't have been happier with how our vacation turned out -- and even though we were nervous about just 2.5 bathrooms for our group of 8 + baby, it turned out to be fine! |
