Samui offers everything I need. A charming bungalow with a great view. Fruits for breakfast, freshly cut by the ever so helpful staff. Wonderfully relaxing massages in my room. The management speaks good English and tries to fulfil all wishes one could possibly have.
It is great to come home and not have to do the laundry. The laundry service is a delightful improvement. |

| I loved to float in the pool and enjoyed the great view. Samui Mountain Village gave us great cooking lessons. I learned to cook while my girlfriend went shopping. She was happy and I was happy. Three cheers to the food. We love Samui Mountain Village. |

Great holidays. Enjoyed every minute of it. Not only did we have great weather and wonderful food, but also great service in the bungalows. Number one is our favourite.
The owners and the staff are just wonderful. We will certainly come back soon. |

1 – 8 June 2004 We had a really great time in Samui Mountain Village. The villa was everything it stated on the website. The pool is absolutely perfect being open 24/7 and the views were breathtaking. The hill up to the villas is very steep and we would highly recommend hiring a jeep. The trek up the mountain is well worth it and the manager, Egg, was so helpful. Everyone goes out of their way to make you feel at home and anything you want, you only have to ask. I would not really recommend it for young children because of the location but for couples it is a romantic, quiet, perfect place to stay. We would not hesitate to recommend Samui Mountain Village and we would certainly go back again and again. Sharon and Jim

15 – 19 June 2004 If you are looking for a private oasis with remarkable views of the ocean below, this is the place for you. You are a bit secluded (atop a steep mountain road!) but the views and peaceful serenity of the Mountain Villas are well worth it. The swimming pool is everything that the pictures suggest it is....Enjoy! Marc

27 July - 1 August 2004 Nestled amongst the huge boulders up the side of the mountain the place has a stunning view (and yes a very steep climb, though the management will pick you up form the main road if you phone them). We stayed in the smaller cabin and it was still spacious, good kitchen, good bathroom, good beds, with tv and DVD player (and dvd library). The pool is stunning too, we went to the beach once out of 6 days. Useful to have transport, but we managed without picking up the cabs on the main road was no problem. Definitely recommended if you want a place to get away and yet the towns are a short ride away. Tony Ackroyd

26 – 29 August 2004 Our stay at Samui Mountain Village proved very enjoyable. The property is small (just 6 villas) and tranquil, and offers a welcome rest from nearby Chaweng. Taking a dip in the pool in the morning while overlooking the bay will provide instant memories. Service and management were also nice and efficient. Yann Camenen

6 – 13 September 2004 We actually stayed just half of the booked time, since we met some old friends on the beach and moved to the place they were staying. The Mountain Village is a very nice place, if you re looking for seclusion and want to enjoy the goodies of a well-furbished room. The views are quite amazing, the space and furniture in the villa are very nice. The shower is a bit of a let-down - not enough water pressure (but this problem is shared with many establishments... ), and cleaning/drying it up is a chore since its not designed well. The pool is lovely. Our main problem was the lack of option to go out for a 5-minute walk and grab some chow, since the place is SO secluded. But if that’s not a problem for you, by all means go for it. Just remember that a jeep is very recommended if you stay in such a place. The big highlight of the stay was the manager, who catered to our every need, problem, and was very very flexible. Thank you. Yuval Yeret

15 – 17 November 2005 The scenery is breathtaking. The sunrise and sunset is worth the price alone. At night, you can almost reach out and touch the stars. The staff is very friendly. The manager is simply the best. He is very nice and will go out of his way to make your stay pleasant The other staff is great, as well. The hotel is located up a mountain, on a steep curving road away from the crowds below. The manager was kind enough to drive us down the hilly road one night into town. He also provided us with a car service who was willing to drive up the hill from town. He would even provided us with a motor bike, had I been able to drive it. If you don’t want to be in the thick of things on the beach, and don’t mind a bit of a commute, I highly recommend this place. Daniel Boone

17 – 23 October 2005 What a wonderful and fantastic holiday! The Samui Mountain Village is a true paradise tucked on to the side of mountain. If you want a holiday that is away from hustle and bustle of the touristy town, but close enough to go partying (10 minutes away), then this is definitely the choice! The views are not to be believed! And the staff at SMV is just wonderful. Kevin Robert Frost

11 – 20 January 2006 Brilliant place if you want peace and quiet and amazing views over Chaweng Bay. A 4x4 jeep/car is essential due to a very steep hill approach. Staff are smiling and caring and want to help, whatever your needs. Great pool - good size and quiet. Not really suiable for small children or the elderly due to steeply sloping site. Good value is you prefer independence to the standard large resort. An all round good experience of Koh Samui. John Sparrow and Paul Jurd

5 – 11 July 2006 We stayed six nights there and here is our feedback: ADVANTAGES: 1. Magnificent view of Chaweng and beyond. 2. Balcony the size of the bedroom. Wonderful and breathtaking view from there. 3. Wonderful swimming pool. 4. Peace and quiet. 5. Very polite and helpful cleaners. DISADVANTAGES: 1. No breakfast!! No restaurant. We took it for granted that at least one restaurant in such a beautiful little resort would be there. The “breakfast” we found instead was one little cup of whole corn kernel and red bean yogurt, a few slices of white bread, a small jar of cheap jam, eggs, and a carton of unhealthy juice. Plus of course some instant coffee and regular tea bags. 2. Filthy pillows! We had to request clean ones on our first day there when we conducted our customary checkup of the room. 3. The resort is located on the top of a mountain. Getting up there was a nightmare. Taxi drivers refused to drive up there, except for one the hotel manager knew who charged 300 bahts each way to/from Chaweng and/or Lamai. 4. Resort has no lobby, just a tiny office that always seems to be closed. 5. This is not a hotel for families with children. CONCLUSION: Despite the unparalleled view from the room and swimming pool, we would never stay there again!! M. Aftat and N. Slimani

6 – 16 May 2007 A charming place: on the hill between chaweng and lamai (near.. but far from noise... A car is necessary, but it doesn t cost much and it possible to book it directly at the hotel). Bill, the owner, is adorable, and can arrange you all you need, or advise you some restaurant, a good supermarket, place to see... The villa are so beautifull, peacefull et large, with a terrace with full equipment. You have in your kitchen a set for the first breakfast.Nothing is missing (AC, cell fanTV, DVD - keep your Cd or DVD - wifi connection, a king size bed, fully equiped kitchen...). It s exactly like than on the pictures on the site. The sea view is so fantastic !! The pool, very quiet, and privacy, and the view too !! At Samui mountain village, you feel like at a friend s house. But, please, if the holidays are for you synonymous with feast and big party : don t go there... It s not for you... For us, we found THE PLACE and we will certainly go back next year. Cornillon

13 – 17 December 2007 What a magical place to get away and relax! Melissa and I were that impressed by our first visit to Samui Mountain Village in May07 that we snuck another visit back to SMV in December. We stayed in Villa 6 and we love the personal touch that the all the villas offer. They’re very comfortable, self-contained and just a short car/bike trip to some of the islands best places to eat. SMV offers great privacy, priceless views (especially from the pool and Villa balconies) and also has a management and support team that are friendly and there to look after you, right from the moment you land at Samui International. They’re very knowledgeable on things local to the island. Just ask…. Everyone looks for something unique they enjoy or seek when on holidays. For Mel and I, it’s a place to relax, but also knowing that adventure and nightlife is just around the corner. If this is your choice of holiday also, then SMV is a great place to stay. We’ll definitely be back in 08 for our honeymoon. What can we say…it only took us 7 months to come back cause we just can’t get enough of it here. Thank you all once again for everything you have helped us out with. We love everything about it, our villa, views, management and staff. Can’t wait to come back…I’ll be counting down the days. See you on our honeymoon. Simon and Melissa, Australia

30 April – 7 May 2008 We stayed here for a week at the end of our extended traveling honeymoon, and it was a perfect place to relax. The staff were so helpful and willing to take us places. They even gave us the use of their mobile phone to call if we didn t feel like climbing up the hill. The views are amazing and the facilities perfect with private deck overlooking the bay, king bed, cable tv with heaps of dvds, and a small kitchen which means you don t have to leave the resort if you wish. It really was an amazing place and the perfect escape. Michael and Linda Fidge

2 – 16 May 2008 Second time to SMV (first in 2007). Wonderful place, with fabulous view on the sea from your terrace (we are in Palm Villa n°6) and from the pool of course (see the picture...)! The team of SMV is friendship and very welcoming : more than an hotel, you feel like at friend s home. The spacious villa is full equipped and very comfortable. We spend 14 days and all was perfect (we will never forget breakfast on the terrace in every morning...). As we notice on this forum last year, SMV is not for the people who needs activities or noise (prefer for it the hotels directly on Chaweng beach...). But if you like peaceful and romantisme , it is for you ! And rent a car (ask by e mail : it will arranged for you...). We are impatient to return there in 2009 ! Cornillon

19 -29 May 2008 What a fantastic find. After spending hours looking at hotels and villa s to stay in, my friends and I finally decided on Samui Mountain Villas. Definately not disappointed with the choice. When booking online you never know what you ll get, but these Villa s were everything as described and more. Don t let the fact that it s on a hill put you off. the view from up high is amazing, the sea breezes cool, the location is perfect, just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Chaweng and Lamai, but close enough to get what you need. The staff and management are friendly and very helpfull, couldn t ask for any more than that. And if you do stay there, don t let the extremely steep hill put you off walking - it s a tough walk up, but you just have to do it at least once (does wonders for the calf muscles). We would defiantely go back. Timothy Willis

16 June 2004 Sawadee Krup, hello again. Our second time we are here, just arrived today and happy to be back here again. First we did, afternoon dinner at Coral Cove Restaurant at the beach (as usual) and of course Thai fish soup, fried noodles, mmmm really good to be back. A tip never go fishing on a rock because I fell and hurt badly my knee. The rain falling now is no problem. We are sitting on the terrace and are looking over the bay and ocean. And waiting for the stars we hope to see tonight. Because we remember the bright stars in Heaven in January, very romantic. Ok here some words in that from my boyfriend Argorn. December 2004 We have no idea of the date; everything has passed by in a sheer bliss. We cannot believe our luck to have found such a perfect spot. The view - we are sure anything we say has been said before, but each time we take it in, we never stop being inspired by it. Something you see in pictures or brochures and can never find, you keep searching and begin to think it doesn’t exist or we will never find it, but we have and we intend to come back and back; because we will never tire of it. But enough of the view; you have all made us feel so welcome, all the staff are marvelous, happy, friendly, kind and caring. As there are only a few villas, it cannot get over crowded, that is the beauty and magic of Samui Mountain Village. Please do not be tempted to build more accommodation; it would ruin the casual, homely feel and destroy the peace and quiet. Our stay with you has been like coming to our own holiday home. The pool area is glorious, perfect in everyway with the breeze, the sun and the pool so clean. Our room is a delight, has everything we need. . We cannot thank you all enough for making our stay with you so wonderful. We have spent hours and hours, the two of us just sitting on our balcony talking and enjoying each others company and when there is nothing left to say, we look up and drink in that view. Thank you so much for having us. We will be back. Graham and Dawn Holmes, Bodian, East Sussex, UK

10 – 23 September 2005 Many thanks to the everyone at Samui Mountain Village for making our first stay on this lovely island as comfortable as possible. The location is perfect with its views and its tranquility, and its quick access to Chaweng and Lamai. The villa has everything you would need, and having breakfast provided is a real bonus. It was a shame we couldn’t spend more time at the lovely pool due to the building works, but its good to know the facilities are continually being improved. Definitely recommend a form of transport for the hill to others. Overall a lovely stay, thanks. Gemma and Jason, UK

11 November 2005 This was our first trip to Thailand and the decision to stay at Samui Mountain Village is one we will never regret. It allowed us to explore the rustic and raw beauty of Koh Samui and to retreat into a quiet and peaceful sanctuary high above the hustle and bustle of Chaweng. The view is breathtaking, but is almost necessary to have a pair of wheels to reach this nest. Have jeep will travel. Dinesh and Taott

12 November 2005 It’s been a great pleasure staying at the Mountain Village. We were completely alone the whole week and had the pool to ourselves!! The view from the gardens and pool area are exceptional, we recommend this place to other vacationers. Thank you. Ken Mercer from the UK, Alice Peres, Italy and Anastasia Mercer UK/Italy

January 2006 What a fantastic place to stay – great views and very helpful cheery staff. Thanks for a great stay. For a great meal, the Beachside Pub and Restaurant, wonderful food right on the shore, been there four times, so cheap and the setting fantastic and just down the road on the Ring Road. This had certainly made our stay. Many thanks to the staff and manager, top marks, highly recommend. Steve and Gret, Bleheim, New Zealand

January 2006 Wicked place, cracking pool with a equally cracking view – which inevitably comes with an evil steep hill climb up to it, thank you for 4 x 4 jeeps. Relaxed, gentle feel – wonderful caring staff, with extra thoughtfully arranged petals on the bed when we arrived at the start of our honeymoon stay. Thank you very much, we may be back one day. 15-21 October 2006 We had a great time during our stay at Samui Mountain Village. We did plenty of walking through Chaweng on Chaweng Beach, enjoyed the “Charming Restaurant” frequently as our favorite place to have a beer, a massage and a fantastic (not to mention well priced) meal. We saw the Thai kickboxing in Lamai and rented a car to drive around the island for a day. SITCA culinary school in Chaweng was great as well. Other than a bit of rain it was great to sit by the pool and get some sun after having breakfast on our patio. Thanks for everything!! We had an amazing honeymoon here in Samui!! December 2006 Quiet, peaceful and so beautiful, don’t change a thing! We also love that it is a small place, no crowds, please keep it that way. Love that ‘hill’ great daily workout! Love the people, so friendly, love the massages down on the beach, loved the Thai food at Charming Restaurant down on the beach, love your dog, Simba. That’s a lot of love, we’ll be back and recommend this to all! Cheers, Tom and Corinne Holowaychuk, Vancouver, B.C.

21 – 28 December 2006 The view speaks for itself. The owners friendly and accommodating. The villa clean and fresh. First two nights quiet and serene. Wish I could be in a time machine and go back in time to be in Samui before all development broke loose. Oh well, guess you gotta take the good with the bad. Wake up early to enjoy the view before the island is awake. Yoga on the porch is good between 5:30 and 6:30 am, coffee too. Thanks for the warm weather, sun and friendly atmosphere. 23-28 December 2006 We loved it so much the first time we came it seemed a perfect choice to spend Christmas here this year. This place is hard to leave during the day, but we managed to pull ourselves away and visit the Big Buddha, a favorite spot, check out the Big Buddha coffee shop, for a quaint rest stop, Fisherman’s Village and finally made it to the Charming Restaurant and beach. Loved it there. We are sad to leave but will be back again someday soon we hope. The Peake Family Geoff, Leslie, Megin and Brendan Working in Kuwait

March 2007 From Nov. 15 2006 until end of March 2007 we spend 4 ½ months here at Samui Mountain Village. It is the best place for staying ‘long time’ between Chaweng and Lamai Beach. It is offering more comfort than some so called 4 and 5 stars hotels down at the beaches. The owners, all the staff, will take care of you. Any problems will be handled immediately and solved as good as they can do. Due to the height of the property (120 Meters above sea level) you always have a good climate, round about 4 degrees less than down at the Beach. It is really comfortable. And very importand, come as a stranger and leave as a friend. Rudy and Siegi Gruber, Wassenburg, Germany (Bavaria – Near the Alps)

So quiet, relaxing and tranquil yet jump on your scooter (very fun) and so close to Chaweng and Lamai. Loved our stay here; hope we get to come stay again soon and very recommended!!! 3 December 2007 These two weeks at our villa have held moments of the most surpassing beauty. Gjeme proposed here on Koh Samui- on the darkened beach, the nearly full moon bathing the ring and the moment in pale, unearthly light. With a night like this, how could our memories of Samui Mountain Village be less than spectacular? It was not only this moment, but countless others that have made our time here unforgettable. Jut a few…being picked up at the Samui Airport with a beer, water and cold towels (after a 32 hour journey, this is a lifesaver!)…The villa – our window displaying palm tree covered mountains, shimmering in the afternoon sun, the other offering a panorama of sun-splashed ocean, horizon melting into water as dusk falls…Butterfly garden, the peace and frantic fluttering of flowers in-flight, an undiscovered wonder of the island..Tamarind Springs, herbal steam in a pre-historic boulder, Thai massage in the sala, pure isolation, pure relaxation – this is Thailand. Simba accompanying us on a hike in the jungle. Thai boxing – the thrill, the strangeness of it! Cacophony of the crowd pole dancers, bald headed footballers, Thai fashionistas , tourists and athletes, trainers and barflys – it was a night to remember. Clang-wang, of the music dividing the fights and rounds, the thrill of women, sweat pouring, fists flying – fighting like men, this was Thailand! One thing to note for the guestbook – memories made possible by the support, insight and kindness of Bill. He went above and beyond our expectations from beginning to the end of our stay. From assisting with a jeep rental to recommending restaurants, hats off for being an excellent host, but hopefully a great friend for the future. Our best wishes to all incoming guests, all the staff made our time here so magnificent. An extra thank to the ladies for making our Loy Krathong flowers for us, it was the most beautiful night of all and we will never forget it. Gjeme and Jenaeth Chicago USA

February 2008 After traveling around Australia and New Zealand for three months, Samui Mountain Village will be remembered as our “holiday time”! We had planned on staying for 10 days, but actually we stayed 17 (visiting Koh Phangan and Koh Tao in between) This says it all really, we loved it so much we just had to come back! Thank you to all the management and staff, we were made to feel very welcome. We would recommend Samui Seafood in Chaweng and Charming Restaurant. Also, Thai Lady Boxing in Lamai is definitely worth a visit! I’m sure we’ll be back again soon. Lisa and Naomi

8 – 15 March 2008 What a view, what a place, what a steep hill! Samui has changed so much since we were here in 1999 to the point we were slightly disappointed, however Samui Mountain Village restored our faith in peace and tranquility. We were made to feel extremely welcome and nothing was to much trouble the management or happy smiling staff. Keep the place as it is. Thanks for making our stay special. 29 May 2008 What a wonderful villa. When you book something over the internet you never really know what you’ll end up with, but this was definitely more than expected. Great rooms, comfy beds and wonderful views, friendly staff and management. Perfect location between the noisy areas but close enough for a night out. And don’t be afraid of the hill, going down is OK, coming up is a killer on the legs, but you have to do it at least once, it does get easier. Tim and Bob Tasmania, Australia

7 June 2008 We had a wonderful week away from Bangkok. Swam lengths in the pool everyday and even in the sea on one occasion. This is a beautiful resort with breath taking views. The Samui Yachting regatta (an annual event) took place before our eyes every day. Perfect weather with the only rain happening deep in the night. We are looking forward to our next visit already to your pocket of paradise. Thank you for your warm hospitality. Keith and Diane Binns, Bangkok and Perth
