Hi Mary We just made it back to Colorado, everything was fine it wasn't really busy, kind of nice not to have to fight crowds. Playa de Carmen was a little busier but not bad. We all had a great time. Thanks again and have a great summer. Craig

Hi Mary! We had a wonderful time at Casa Tankah! The weather was great, it was hot but windy so the house felt great and we weren't hot on the beach. It rained one morning but cleared up by 10 AM. We had the perfect mix of activity and leisure...went to the ruins in the morning, beach all afternoon. Another day we snorkeled in the underground Cenotes and the one down the street from you. We met up with a guide at the ruins who took all four of us out for the day, the underground cenotes and the lagoon. We swam with sea turtles and sting rays...amazing! I put his name in the guestbook along with his card. He's a great guy. We ate out twice, once at Blue Sky (great food!). The guys cooked, we girls cleaned up. For the most part, we lounged, ate, drank beer and listened to music...paradise!! Thank you!!! We all talked all weekend about what a perfect spot you have! Thank you for letting us stay there, we can't wait to go back!! Amy

Hola Mary and Kerry!
We loved staying at Casa Tankah! It was everything I had hoped it would be...but one week was definitely not long enough for a vacation!
The weather was very very hot (as expected) with no rain. We loved your casa and your beach....my favorite view was from the second beach chair from the left.....ahhhh
Thanks!

Dear Kerry and Mary, We had such a delightful time staying at your Casa Tankah. It was the perfect size for us and the location is awesome. We loved how the kitchen stays stocked from guests to guests (we left some things of our own), appreciating the sense of being in a continuously functioning household. The house journal was such fun for ideas about where to go as well as the sense of continuous pleasure your guests have enjoyed there- as well as staying through Hurricane Dean! Arlene was an enormous help, and Jorge was wonderful. Thank you for this opportunity. We would love to come again, and will be in touch. We hope you have a Happy New Year. Ann Phillips

HI, MY HUSBAND AND I SPENT TIME IN YOUR HOME IN MAY. I NEVER DID EMAIL YOU WHEN WE ARRIVED HOME TO SAY THANK YOU AND OUR STAY WAS FANTASTIC! YOU WERE RIGHT IT WAS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PRIVATE BEACH! WE HAVE BRAGGED IT UP ALOT SINCE BEING HOME AND HOPE TO SPEND ANOTHER VACATION RIGHT THERE! IT WAS OUR 20TH ANNIVERSARY, AND WE ARE IN AGREEMENT THAT WE SHOULD MAKE IT AN ANNUAL TRADITION TO SPEND OUR ANNV. WEEK THERE FROM NOW ON. OUR ONLY MISTAKE WAS MOVING UP NORTH TO PUERTO MORELOS. WE MOVED INTO A LARGE, GORGEOUS, HOME WITH A FANTASTIC POOL. THAT WAS GREAT! BUT WE WOULD CHOOSE YOUR HOUSE IN A HEARTBEAT JUST FOR THE BEACH, AND THE FACT THAT IT IS JUST ABOUT THE BEST SNORKELING IN THE AREA AND IT IS RIGHT IN THE FRONT YARD! WE DID NOT EVEN HAVE TO LEAVE THE HOUSE. WE HAD PLANNED TO GO BACK TO XEL-HA, BUT ONCE WE ARRIVED AT YOUR HOME AND WENT OUT SNORKELING THE FIRST TIME WE SAW NO REASON TO PAY MONEY TO DO WHAT WE COULD DO JUST STEPS AWAY FROM OUR OWN PRIVATE LOUNGE CHAIRS! THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR HOME! WE HOPE EVERYTHING IS WELL THERE AND WE CANT WAIT TO BE BACK AGAIN! CLINT AND BROOKE SMITH

Hi Mary, Just to let you know, we had a great week, last week in Casa Tankah. We did a lot of snorkeling, my wife and my youngest son saw a baracuda and a huge stingray, and our boys also enjoyed just making a little tour with the kayak without any snorkeling; that is the part I most like about holidays, that you finally can have the time and patience to take all your time in doing these little things together with your kids. Against our plans we also cooked many more home-meals than planned, just because we were too lazy to move up again and go to a restaurant. And this only shows the house had a very relaxing effect on us. We prepared our own margaritas, we did a sunrise walk on the beach, I spent hours at night, sitting on a chair on the beach gazing at the stars, etc. The last morning we woke up to find really huge turtle tracks on the beach, but again it did not succeed in burying the eggs. Luckily for our little boys, at the same moment we saw the tracks there appeared a fisherman in front of the house, hauling huge fish out of the water. The house had a great romantic feel about it, it does not look as plain-concrete like most of the probably newer buildings like the one of the neighbors. The porch/terrace is great, the airflow from the sea is fantastic and the quiet all around us was also great. A tip maybe for other people; as we had to leave the house early in the morning and our plane left late at night, we went to the Club Med in Cancun and had a half/day pass. Expensive at $55 for an adult and $30 for a kid, but all your food and drinks is included, you can use the beach and their swimming pool, and if it is really hot like on last Saturday it really helps you through an otherwise totally lost day of waiting in a pleasurable way. And use the showers and get dressed with clean clothes just before you hit the plane. Casa Tankah will have a special place in our memories, and we would certainly plan on returning if Mexico was'nt so damned far away for us; if you travel that far, you do'nt go to the same place twice. But you never know, and we will certainly tell our friends. In the meantime the heat of your lovely beach is slowly slipping away in the Amsterdam chill, but that's fine; we had a great time. Thanks for everything, and maybe, who knows, till next time, kind regards, Tobias

Hi Mary and Kerry, Just wanted to drop you a note to tell you how much we enjoyed staying at Casa Tankah. Your place is everything you said it was and more. It was really nice to find the goodies in the fridge, they came in handy when preparing meals at "home". Your game closet is also nicely stocked with all of the appropriate things to have when your on vacation. Arlene is a trip!! She saw to it that we had everything we needed during the week and was fun to chat with. The maid and caretakers also did a nice job while we were there. We used the kayak a few times and the hammock more than a few...that's my favorite thing to do when I'm on vacation in Mexico. Terry went diving, we snorkeled in the cenote and took nice long walks on the beach. What a peaceful place to swim and walk! Your place is in the best of settings, the shade from the palm trees was perfect for long stays on the beach with a good book. I hope you get to Casa Tankah often. Thank you very much for keeping your place so nice for visitors like us. Sincerely, Jeff and Fran & Terry and Marian

Well we have been home for 8 days now and I just can't seem to get back into reality. We had such a great holiday at Casa Tankah. The weather was awesome, the humiidity was unbelievable, I wish I could have brought some of it home with me. It is so dry here, not matter how much lotion I put on. I got my pictures developed today and I wish I would have taken more. Your place was absolutley perfect for our families. My husband and I both agreed we would never stay in an all inclusive again. Staying in a house is SO much better. You can get up in the morning and do as you please, make your own breakfast at your leisure and be on your own schedule. Having a vehicle there too was nice. We frequented the San Francisco market in Tulum almost daily, and had most dinners in Tulum as well. There are lots of very good, reasonably priced restaurants there. Ceziac beach was to die for. We spent two afternoons there, body surfing and just hanging out. The kids absolutley loved it. The Jungle Adventures ziplining and quad trip was lots of fun too. It is true you don't really appreciate something until it is gone. As I look at the pictures on the website and of ours that we had taken I miss the place already. It felt like home to us while we were there. We would definatley like to come back again. So thank you for allowing us to experience the awesome adventure we had staying at Casa Tankah. |

Hi Mary!
Thank you so much for allowing us to rent your Casa. We had a fabulous time! Your home was just what we were imagining it would be like...nice and large with a great beach and great snorkelling, all the amenities we were looking for. The weather was on and off. It was nice and warm the whole time, and we didn't get very much rain, but over half of the time it was very windy so we weren't able to snorkel the ocean as much as we might have (only about 5 of the days). But we did more touring and inland activities instead. ATV and zip-trekking with JungleAdventure was a highlight (very recommended, only $35 since we phoned them directly and drove there), a number of cenotes, COBA, and the road to Punta Allen. I also was able to get in one dive with Chris. All of your restaurant recommendations worked out excellent too! I am sure we will be returning to Casa Tankah again, and we will be sure to recommend it to all of our friends.
Take care!

Dear Mary and Kerry... thank you so much for the use of your wonderful home in Mexico! My cousin and I had a truly great time. And you were right, we certainly weren't disappointed in anyway with your great house. The water and the hammocks and the newly hatched turtles which we watched skeedadle into the water couldn't have been better. I hope we were given a good report because I would love to call you again for another stay in the future. I was really impressed by all the organized information on area activities and restaurants, etc...it really helped to make us feel connected. Also, it was great that there was a little of this and a little of that in the kitchen/pantry which I assume is in part left by past lodgers. We contributed to the pantry with some things and used a little of what was there...it felt really communal and camp like and fun. Your enthusiasm for the house and the area really shows and is contagious! So thanks again! Warmest regards, Elizabeth MacDonald

Hi Mary,
Great news about the water tank. We'd love to come back. Pat didn't dive. We rented snorkel equipment from Chris for the week. We had a blast snorkeling out on the reef with the kayak.
We went to Hidden Worlds and did the cenote snorkel tour. That was the best $40.00 we've spent in a long time. What a great experience.
We rented bikes and rode around Coba one day. That was really fun, the bikes were a disaster which made it even funnier.
If you have a chance to eat at Diamante out on the hotel road, try it! It was just fabulous and the view is just lovely.
Blue Sky was good, too. That 4 cheese pasta is too yummy.
We sure envy you having that place! We're actually considering retiring to Tulum. (Down the road, of course!)
We'll be in touch about next year. I'm sorry we forgot to write in the guest book. We meant to the last morning, but we just sat on the porch and stared at the ocean for the last time.

Hi Mary and Kerry
We just got back from Mexico a few days ago, and we just wanted to drop a note to say what a fabulous time we had! Your house is in such a great location, we barely ever left the immediate area. Before we went, my husband was grumbling about why I was making a fuss over getting him a bathing suit, since he never swims anyways. When we got to your place, he never left the water! I actually had to drag him out of the cenote because he was turning blue from cold and so pruney from being in the water all day. He was having a blast swimming with the fish, and had totally regressed to being a 5 year old. The last three days of our visit were too windy for us to go out to the reef, so we didn't get a chance to do that one last snorkel, but we went shopping in Tulum and wandered around a bit and got to know the area we'd been staying in. This was the vacation I'd been waiting for for years, and it was so hard to leave. We'll probably be back!
thank you!

Dear Mary and Kerry! We are home, a week was too short! However, we had a great time! Your house is awesome! We are so relaxed. Arlene was great, she checked on us and was able to answer questions. My parents really enjoyed most days under your palm trees (the short ones which make great shade). Our son "planted" a fourth palm tree in line with the other three from a sprouting coconut he found near the beach (next door empty lot). I wonder if it will grow, the guy that raked the beach made a little mound of sand around it. I spent lots of time reading my book on the hammock. We sat on the beach watching the kids in the water, it was great. My parents were delighted!
Take care, Patty

Thank you for the opportunity to spend two weeks in Casa Tankah. We had a lot of fun staying in your casa. Every part of our journey was an adventure we will never forget.. Arlene was a doll who reminded us to pay attention and have a good time. It was breath-taking. We had a lot of fun snorkeling out front, kayaking almost every day, eating, sunning and just plain relaxing on the beach or on the porch. We visited the Casa Cenote restaurant and swam in the cenote, the Blue Sky restaurant where we had the best raviolis we've ever had (and we live where there are Italians who make some very good ones), Xel Ha where the snorkeling was awesome, a day into Playa Del Carmen and over to Cozamel.. Again, thank you. It was delightful.. Julie and Ray McLaughlin; Lynn and Bruce Linebarger; Wendi and Buck Grochol

Hola Mary and Kerry - How lucky you are to own Casa Tankah - what a beautiful spot! We had a really lovely time - loved snorkeling in both the bay and the cenote, ruins in tulum and coba, tulum beaches - made fresh salsa and loads of fresh fruit drinks and played yatzee and uno all the time. The weather was perfect - our youngest son (3) is trying to get used to having clothes on - he liked being on the beach - sand castles and his little army truck in the 'broccoli forest' near the log. I really enjoyed the reef fish book which helped me identify what I saw in the beautiful world under water and Scott really loved the hammocks - we were all up for the sunrise every morning. Thanks - all went well and you have been very helpful along the way - we hope to be able to do it again next year. Thanks again, Colleen and Scott

Hi Mary and Kerry - yikes we have been back in St. Louis for 2 weeks already. Still trying to catch up from those lovely weeks away in Mexico. We so enjoyed your home on the beach - thanks. I'm attaching 3 photos of us relaxing - Charlie spent a lot of time reading - Kate and Azeddine loved the kayak - I was happy to be sittin around. We only missed one thing - a cutting board - Azeddine and Kate cooked quite a few meals for us. We liked hanging around in the town of Tulum. Ricco's Pollo was great. Arlene was fun and I understand you were arriving the day or so after we left. It would have been nice to meet you. Hope all was in order in your home after our stay and that you spend many fine days in your very special place there. Karen Duffy

Thanks; we had a great time. We arrived to rain on Monday, but the weather improved. Your place was fantastic; met and exceeded high expectations. It was a perfect location for what we wanted to do and really fit the bill in terms of having a house on the beach away from the Cancun madness.

Greetings Kerry and Mary. Just a word of thanks and a bit of feedback is in order.
We had a marvelous relaxing vacation, being with longtime friends (over 45 years) in the Caribbean was the remedy for modern American overload. We baked on the beach, stared at the ocean hours on end watching sea and air creatures carry on as they have done since before the Mayans were hauling stones. Having well developed crowd-avoiding genes, we found the ruins at Muyil and Coba, though less thoroughly excavated, more interesting than Tulum and more in concert with the overall theme of our venture which was maximum chilling with minimum effort.
We found the Grand Cenote to define refreshing, missing the much accustomed and taken for granted fresh water shower. The cenote across from Casa Cenote is more salty than others although the limestone-filtered water phenomenon is a wonder in itself. We visioned this world and that of the sea via clumsy breathing tubes and fins, watching the graceful flow of life which was mostly oblivious to the intrusion.
I tend to wax philosophic under the influence of a fine vacation buzz but I take home the renewed realization that we air-breathing creatures are but a small part of a wonder beyond understanding and is unfolding as it should.
Perhaps we will cross paths again in the future.
Thank you once again,

Hola Mary!! Mike and I loved the house. My friend Sonja came along, she also had a wonderful time. The ruins at Tulum were really cool to see. The beach there is the most beautiful I have ever seen. It rained the day we were there, but it did not detract from the beauty at all. We found good restaurants to eat, right on the beach. We ate at the Casa Cenote retaurant down the street, the food was excellent. Ana & Jose's was quaint, the food was good- the ambiance was breath-taking. They have parrot's right in the restaurant, one talks and will get on your shoulder. I wish I could remember the name of the restaurant on the same road as Ana & Jose's....it was also a hotel, looked like cottages, anyway, the food was excellent, the beach was beautiful....we walked outside and took pictures while we waited for our breakfast. The people we met were kind, the service was excellent where ever we went. Xel-Ha was fun, we didn't stay long. (had too much to see and too little time) We snorkled there, saw sting-rays, barracuda, lots of colorful fish. Swam thru the caves in the lagoon. There were iguana's running all over the place, it was neat. The park is beautiful there, could have easily spent the whole day there. Your house was perfect, all the windows allowed for a nice breeze and sunshine. The beds are comfortable. Plenty of space. Having the bottled water was convenient and appreciated. The whole experience was very memorable. We have told all of out friends what a great time we had "roughing it in the jungle of the Yukatan" Did I mention we saw tucans flying in the wild? WOW!! Your property manager was kind and helpful. The grounds keepers did a fine job keeping the beach and yard clean and beautiful. My only regret is that I did not swim out to the reef that is off the beach of your home. Unfortunatly we only had a day and a half of sun during our stay. I am sure that reef is something to see. I guess I can do that next time!! Thanks so much for yor time and kindness, feel free to keep in touch. Sincerely, Patty & Mike St. Marie

Dear Mary & Kerry
What a wonderful break we had at Casa Tankah, and that was just for a week! I cannot imagine how laid back you'd be if you stayed for 3 weeks - falling over probably! It was wonderful to be woken up by the sunrise shining into the bedroom. We got up really early every day and passed out at about 10pm - mind you, I suspect the Tequila probably had something to do with that! We hardly left the house at all - just couldn't work up the energy. Had a couple of meals and a few cool beers at the Gran Cenote restaurant (which by the way is open until 9pm now) and snorkelled in the cenote one hot afternoon.
We didn't get to do any diving on this occasion - the sea outside the reef was a bit rough as the wind was up most days. We did snorkel inside the reef which was great. All in all we really enjoyed our stay and I have recommended Casa Tankah to a few friends. Arlene is great fun and Bernardino is lovely - so is the wonderful beach dog (the brown one who looks as if he has some Doberman blood in him) who adopted us for the week. I just wish I could have brought him home with me, but I think he'd die of cold in England.
Anyway, thanks very much for sharing your home with us. We shall return! All the best.

Hi We have stayed at your lovely house for the last two years with our friends Bob and Merilyn Arms (who always kindly make all the arrangements) and are booked in again for next year. Just wanted to say how much we enjoy being there and thank you for sharing you wonderful place with us. We made "Kerry's Salsa" several times while we were there and enjoyed the recipe. I made it tonight in fact, but here in this tiny town in British Columbia where we live it is impossible to buy problano peppers so we had to substitute. I also wanted to tell you how very efficient and pleasant the property manager, Arlene Groves, is. She certainly takes care of us when we are there and makes sure we have everything we need. Hi Guys - We arrived home last night to 32 degrees and snow - what a jolt!!!! We had SUCH a wonderful time - we thoroughly enjoyed your home and it's incredible surroundings. I was surprised that electricity had actually been put in. It must be great for you! I think that one of the huge pluses about your home was that there wasn't any phone or television!! The girls read so much it seemed like a library sometimes and we all found ourselves going to bed by 8:30 but getting up around 5!! What a life!! I do have one suggestion, well, maybe 2!! I small tabletop hibachi type BBQ would be great to be able to place outdoors - Arlene told us where to buy local and we thoroughly enjoyed becoming a part of the small town shoppers. Because the snorkeling is so wonderful right there - we spent alot of time in front of the house - wow - what a swim though!! Everyone thought they were going to have to tow old mom back in!!!!! Maybe some kind of blowup raft or boat would be cool for people to use. This was definitely the best vacation we've ever had - it was rustic enough for us to enjoy without foo-foo and really comfortable and homey at the same time. Thank you so much - I will be contacting you about next year soon!!! Emily Potter

Just wanted to let you know that we had a great time even despite the hurricane. The villa was wonderful. We are definitely going to make this a yearly event. I wish we could have signed your guestbook, but our taxi actually showed up early Saturday morning, so we had to rush and leave. Thanks again.

Hi, I bugged you a lot last spring and then backed out at the last minute because I thought my kids wouldn't be as happy. We just got back from Akumal and Villas del Akumal. I wasn't happy the first half of the vacation, couldn't unwind. We went to Playa del Carmen and Akumal for dinners and also went diving. Then we finally went south, What a difference! I can see why you bought your place. Wish we had rented it. We found the Casa Cenotes restaurant and went there every night after! The condos we stayed in were nice but the snorkeling there wasn't and the beach was too rocky for the kids. We snorkeled at casa cenote and dove at dos ojos. Went to Tulum and saw the ruins. The second half of the vacation was great. We didn't disturb whom ever was at your place but we know where it is now. When we come back we will be contacting you. No need to look farther.
