Hi Missy!
We can't express who much we enjoyed Sandy Gardens! I love it when a place is "better than expected." It was perfect for our gathering in New Bern!! We loved having coffee overlooking the Neuse River in the mornings and sipping wine with the sunset! You certainly have a gem of a place. Mark and I had a fun canoe ride (almost to the other bank) on a calm afternoon. We loved walking and meeting neighbors and friendly dogs! Sorry we never met as we decided to head home one day earlier to break up the long journey home. Hope you found the cottage in good shape as we tried to care for it as you do.
I am sure you will see the Kramer family again! Thank you again for sharing your piece of paradise!
ps- We really loved all your cute touches in the house. Martha Stewart could take some pointers! Also, the jigsaw puzzle took us 2 days to complete!

Thank you for providing a friendly and comfortable "home away from home" as we joined together with our friends to renew our bodies and souls with rest and tons of laughs.
New Bern offerred us historical perspective and we enjoyed this charming town on the trolley tour.
The views are beautiful - the porch adds to the genteel atmosphere and all of us are grateful for the opportunity to explore this beautiful area of NC. Having this little piece of heaven to remember and plan to return one day. We thank you both - we enjoyed speaking with you also!

We had a wonderful time despite Tropical Storm Ernesto! The rainy/windy weather did not matter at all as we enjoyed your cheery cottage. The weather actually forced us to slow down and, as you porch sign reads, relax, relax, relax. I finished a book in two doays and can't remember the last time I did that! This was the second time Tim and I have rented Sandy Garden Cottage and it was even better this time. Looks like die-hard power boaters will be learning to sail, now that we have had a taste with the Sunfish! Playing on the beach with the baby, building sandcastles and hunting for shark's teeth is a lifestyle we could grow accustomed to! Thank you for your generous hospitality and the mini-sailing lesson. Hi Missy,
Michael and I got home just fine but we really miss being there. I just wanted you to know again how much we enjoyed being at your home. I forgot to tell you there are 2 tree frogs that are living in your grill on the porch. They come in on the right hand side under that single burner so alert any new visitors to check out that burner first before firing it up. You can hear them sing and it is magnified under the cover. If you listen you can hear other frogs respond to them.
Your home is so beautiful. Jane and I admired all of your pictures and things that you had on your walls and then the colors that you chose were so warm and inviting. We just felt at home. The view was spectacular, the sunsets, the clouds, the colors, the wildlife, what a great place to visit and how lucky you are to live there all year round.
Thanks again for allowing us the opportunity to come and enjoy the area and your home. I enjoyed meeting you and your family.
I left a couple of books and 2 margarita glasses and a pitcher for others to enjoy. I hope you don’t mind.
My mom and Jane are working on their hay bale gardens (like yours) and I am going to set one up in the school garden which is called the Circle of Life Garden fashioned after the Native American ideals and principles of the earth and our connection to it. I think it will be great for my little 1st and 2nd graders to work on and to harvest.

We could not have been more delighted with this place - it's a utopia! The beauty and comfort of the cottage and it's surroundings instantly relaxed this extended family of New Yorkers and Floridians. Your painstaking attention to every charming detail was much appreciated. The town of New Bern is enchanting, we would love to return! We so enjoyed our stay at your beautiful Sandy Garden cottage. It was wonderfully outfitted and well-stocked with everything my family needed for a perfect weekend in New Bern. I couldn't have asked for a better "base camp" for the MS150 bike event. The location is wonderfully isolated & serene yet just a couple of minutes from the charming little town. The short ride across the Trent River bridge was the perfect warmup for my 150 mile bike ride!
The sunset on Friday night was one of the most spectacular I've ever seen. I've got a ton of pictures of my kids in your little garden with the gorgeous purple, orange, and red skyline of New Bern across the Trent in the background.
After spending about 9 hours riding my bike all around the Pamlico Sound, drifting off to sleep to the soothing sounds of crickets and waves lapping against the beachwall was incredibly relaxing.
This was my first visit to New Bern and I'm sure it won't be my last. We'll definitely stay here again next time we're in town!

Thanks so much for the use of the Sandy Garden Cottage this weekend. We all loved it, and will definitely contact you again if we are in the area. It was a great location for getting into New Bern or out to the beaches, and of course the view of the sunset over the river was great. You should give information about the house to the B&B owners downtown - the "Meadows" owners said that they are frequently overbooked during special weekends, and are always on the lookout for a place to send the overflow!
Hope we can get back that way soon.
