Thanks for letting us share your beautiful beach home. We were surprised how spacious it was-loved the 2 living rooms.
The kids played in the pool and or the beach, adults too.
We had so much fun with the bikes. All of the restaurants on the island were great. I loved "That Place on 98" in Eastpoint. the seafood chowder and the key lime pie were the best we had. We had a wonderful time, The Knowles, Quigley, and Carter Families

Three families of 4 = 12 people enjoyed a great week at Aloan By The SeaWe had 3 great days of sun, lots of rain, and wind and finally some sun again. Beautiful Home with everything we needed. Heated pool was just what the 6 kids and adults needed. The beach was beautiful and empty. We went into Apalach for oysters at Boss Oyster and ice cream at Ebbys.
Thanks for letting us unwind, relax, and have a great time with family and friends.

Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us. We thoroughly enjoyed the sea breezes on the porch, took many refreshing dips in the pool and spent lots of peaceful time shelling the beach. There were 9 of us- Grandpa, Grandma, mom, dad, and 5 kids-Amelia-9,Peter-1, Isabel and Emma-6, Liv-2. What a perfect spot for a family with small ones!

What a wonderful property! We absolutely enjoyed our week on St. George Island and at Aloan By The Sea. From our arrival, with the no hassle keyless entry, this rental was easy. The short walk to the beach, which is very important to us with a 2 1/2 and a 5 year old, made it easy enough to get back and forth if we forgot something, for potty breaks, or to grab lunch...the street was not busy so it was easy to cross.
The pool was perfect! Beautifully landscaped, it was a relaxing alternate to the beach. (It was also great having the outdoor shower, made our lives much easier with the kids) The pool was also very clean, as was the entire property. We were impressed with the state of the entire property when we arrived. Everything was in order, and ready for us to start our vacation right away.
The master bedroom was the beautiful haven you hope to find on vacation. The kids had a blast in the bunk room(although, I hate to admit, I wished there were blackout curtains in there so my early risers might have let us sleep in just a bit on vacation.)-and my sister enjoyed having the pick of the remaining beautiful rooms.
The kitchen was well equipped...we cooked every meal but one lunch at the house, and were never wanting for any equipment we needed. We also loved that there was a screened in porch that we enjoyed some of your meals on.
For a few days when the winds were from a certain direction, and there were some biting flies in the evening... but we were still able to enjoy eating outside. My husband spent a lot of time on the porch facing the ocean with his coffee/glass of wine and a book, he said this is the most relaxing vacation he's had in a long time.
We enjoyed a couple of trips into Appalachicola, what a neat town to stroll around and enjoy a nice lunch. Since it was less than 20 minutes away, it was quite convenient as well. I really appreciate that this property is pet friendly.

We had such a great, relaxing week on St. George Island and in your welcoming home. It's wonderful in every way, from the welcoming, soothing decor to the beautifully landscaped pool area. ( Perfect for our 2 1/2 and 5 yr olds) and the very convenient outdoor shower! Unfortunately, our dog Ally passed away in June and didn't make it on this trip, but I know she would have loved it. Mr and Mrs Johnson, This vacation has been anticipated for over a year. Four generations were here for the week and what great fun we had! The little cousins played at the beach and pool-the oldest even taught the 3 yr old to jump in and go under water. Great Grand Dad-Papa B- and Grand Dad-Papa H- taught everyone to fish. And the fishing was great!
Our kids got some alone adult time to catch up with each other and us oldies got to see them as parents first hand.
24/7!

This is our third visit to the island and I like your place best. My husband and I have three married children, two single, a granddaughter(she's 6), and my mom. This house accomodated all of us comfortably. My favorite spot is the master bedroom. We can see the ocean and the street and the people on the porch from one spot. Or, as everyone soon discovered, you could close all the blinds and shut the door and you had a very quiet haven.
We stayed up late every night swimming, playing with the Wii, eating, watching T.V. and just having fun with each other. Sadly our week is over, but we have our memories and pictures.

Dear David and Lynn, We leave in the a.m. after 2 months in your home. We have had a great respite from our Colorado winter. In spite of unseasonably cold weather we enjoyed everyday here walking the beach, kayaking, eating lots of seafood, napping-all the good things. We brought our instruments and played music everyday upstairs in the center room-fiddle, accordian, and bagpipes. The accomadations seem to meet everyone of our needs from the youngest to the oldest!
The screened in porch came in handy for our evening gatherings, because of your monster mosquitos!
We've spent 9 of our vacations here on the island! Good suggestion to new comers-TAKE OFF YOU WATCH! YOUR ON ISLAND TIME. We have made this a mandatory requirement for everyone who has shared in the St. George experience.
I must say your home by far, has been the most beautiful. From your kitchen, to your porch and we especially loved your "Bow wow's Beach House". My cousin's dog "Jessie James" made himself very comfortable.
We look forward to visiting your home again, as we return every year!

We went to the beach everyday and we saw dolphins!!! We read many of your books and enjoyed sitting on your porch. No matter how hot it was, there was always a breeze on the porch. We enjoyed having so much space and being able to still get together and eat dinner.
My brothers and I loved the bunk room, especially the lights!
The beach is gorgeous and there were lots of waves and shells. We will miss all the great times we had here, but we are taking lots of memories back with us to Indiana!

Just came back from "the island" once again and must say this was the finest house we have stayed in all our years of visiting. Attention to detail in all respects and absolutely the cleanest house we have stayed in.
A big 'thank you' to the owners for making sure all the small things that make a family vacation were in place. We loved the pool, riding the bicycles, and the large patio veranda area....where the breeze always made you feel cool.
Thanks again! We've already booked our two weeks again for next year, and can't wait to get back. |

Loved the porch and pool, much of our stay was spent there. It was our 11 month olds first trip to the ocean and she loved it. She loved to lick the salty sea shells and her fingers salty from the ocean. I can't wait to see how much she loves it in a few years. We also went to the Blue Parrot to eat...great food. How can I even begin to put into words what this week in St. George has meant to each of us. My husband, John and I will return to Kansas City with a heart full of precious memories of the time spent with our loved ones. The grandkids couldn't have had a better time. There were giggles galore, gathering of shells, watching crabs scurry across the beach and seeing dolphins frolicking.

We saw dolphins from the balcony on our last day, the weather was great, no rain and the Gulf waves were awesome. We were all in awe by the house as it is beautiful. Thanks for opening it up to us for use. The beds slept very comfortably, the porch and rocking chairs were a hit too.
We all hope to come back again. We think you have the best place on the island.

It is 6 a.m. and we will be packing up our truck shortly to begin our journey home to the east coast of Florida. With us, we take a weeks worth of wonderful memories made with family and friends that will last a lifetime. Your beautiful beach home is a big part of those memories. This was our 2nd stay here and we loved the addition of the pool. Gathering each morning on the proch with coffee cups in hand, we took great delight in watching the dolphins appear each morning. The weather was wonderful this week.
We love the serenity of being on this island with the people we love. Your home is so comfortable and warm we immediately settle in and the fun begins. We love cooking and baking in that big kitchen. That huge dining room table was not just a place to eat, but where artwork, boardgames, and puzzles were done.
Thank-you for sharing your wonderful home. Once again we had an awesome vacation here.

Lynn, We had a wonderful trip and your home is absolutely beautiful. The walk to the beach was ideal--much shorter than I was expecting! The only bad thing was we had to leave 2 days early because of Hurricane Arlene! The weather was beautiful up until Thursday, when it began to rain. Friday morning the winds were picking up and the rain was really coming down, so we made the decision to pack and head home. It was heartbreaking because we were having a fabulous time-just relaxing...rocking on the porch, swimming in the pool, playing at the beach. Wow what a wonderful place-I'm sorry we have to leave in the morning. My family and I all had plenty of room and privacy in such a great house! Even a couple of days of rain didn't dampen our stay. We enjoyed the beach, biking, shelling, swimming etc. The cookbook was great-we made "Frogmore Stew and Key Lime Pie" one night.

We had a wonderful week at the beach! Great weather, relaxing by the beach, walking for miles and the pool was great. We has some hot days. Our vacation was close to perfect! The girls really enjoyed shelling on the beach in the mornings. We found some great shells to take home. We also went horse back riding on the beach in Cape San Blas and our last night went to the State Park to take pictures of the girls in their beach dresses. Our stay was close to perfect-weather so nice we didn't run the a.c. a single day. The beach was beautiful and restful as usual and mostly deserted. On Mothers Day there were six of us on the beach in a 200 yard stretch. Neighbors were very friendly-at the house and on the beach. A fisherman caught a Stingray, a Bull Shark, and a Pompano in addition to a cooler full of white fish. Next day he brought us a "mess" of fish, all cleaned and fileted!!
The house is the best beach place we have ever stayed. You (the owners) have gone the extra mile with quality construction and furnishings and with the small but considerate touches like cabinet and light switch labels. And the cable system has the Weather Channel-very important!

We enjoyed our stay tremendously! Thank you for sharing your lovely home. We came to St. George Island for a wedding that was in Tallahassee. We wanted a place large enough for 11 people and on the beach-this place was perfect! Once we got here it was better than perfect! The beaches were wonderful, we highly recommend St. George Island State Park early evening for shelling and bird watching. We were so fortunate to have a Great Blue Heron walk up to us within 10 feet! Amazing!
Your home is beautiful and we hope to visit again. We were able to share this vacation with 5 grandparents and we all hope to visit again! Thank you!

Aloan By The Sea was the perfect setting for our marriage retreat. The solitude, ocean view, combined with the beautiful home created a warm, inviting atmosphere. Couples rocked in the porch rockers, took walks along the beach, and enjoyed beautiful sunsets as they spent time getting to know each other.
Aloan By The Sea is an elegantly decorated, beautifully designed vacation home. We have enjoyed our stay immensly-and will go back home relaxed and refreshed!

01/14-01/17/05: The extended McClain family had a short but VERY enjoyable 3-day weekend at Aloan. The home has spacious rooms with decor and amenities that are very upscale. The craftmanship in the details of the home is top notch. Our group of ten (and one small Yorkie) had a relaxing St. George Island mini-vacation. We would heartily recommend this home. The addition of a pool will make this home a fabulous retreat.
p.s. Use of the bikes is an added bonus; we were able to ride 10+ miles along the hard packed sand to the far eastern tip of the State Park.

We came to St. George to visit with family and have fun. The weather was sunny and cool. We ate alot of food, walked on the beach, biked, hiked, and ate! We shopped, explored, ATE, relaxed, watched movies, had a birthday dinner, opened Christmas presents, ATE, played poker and board games, ATE, looked for sea shells, went horseback riding.
We purchased our fresh seafood from My Way Seafood in Panacea-we cooked all of our meals-great seafood.
The entire visit to St. George was great and we really enjoyed staying in this house. It was the first time all of us were together at one time in about 12 years so it was really special. I look forward to visiting again. Debra Lloyd, Georgetown, DE.

We all traveled by car to the island. It was hot, but we went fishing, visited the beach, lounged, and ate! We recommend shopping in Apalachicola and the Grady Market. Eating out at Banana Starfish Cafe, Veranda, and Owl Cafe. We visited Apalachicola, the St. George Island State Park. We had a very long power outage-the neighbors lent us candles and a light. Our trip purpose was to enjoy a new adventure and spend time with family and friends. It was a nine hour drive for Me, my son, my awesome friend Paula and her pups.
It was Sunny, Warm, Cloudy, Stormy-Beautiful!
We got to swim, rode bikes, ate great food, played games, watched movies, rocked on the porch with our coffee every morning. Walked on the beach and watched the full moon. Enjoyed life here!
Our favorite times together included making dinners together, saying our prayers, on the beach in the morning with my son. Every moment with my friends and family is precious!

We rocked, read, drank coffee and rocked some more. Watch dolphins alot. Swam in the Gulf, the man next to us on the beach caught a shark-we swam closer to the shore! Ate, cooked, shopped,--Great oysters at Boss Oyster in Apalachicola.
We enjoyed our family, friends, and our wonderful pets! So glad they could come-Thanks, a house is not a home without a dog.
Our favorite moments where driving up to the home for the first time-Its beautiful! Watching the Dolphins, rocking and talking.
My niece, Toni, says thanks. She smiled all week long and rocked!

We had some great storms and stories! Storms knocked the power out 2 times--We enjoyed the hot and sunny beach, biked the island, read, and ATE! Enjoyed adult beverage every afternoon, relaxed in the rocking chairs on the porch. Went on a chartered fishing trip-expensive.
We sucked down oysters at the Raw Bar in Indian Pass(its not for everyone-only 3 tables, very rustic-great oysters!)
Purchased fresh seafood from the Island View Seafood for cooking. Enjoyed drinking beer on the deck at the Blue Parrot. Best of all being together, playing cards at night.
This is the best house! We loved the island-We'll be Baaaaack!
P.S. Go to Sometimes Its Hotter Seasoning Company, buy the Jalepeno Onion Seasoning, follow the recipe for the The Habenero Bar-B-Q Shrimp-delicious!

Memorial Day Weekend! Weather was in the low 90's during the day, low 70's during the evenings. Our favorite moments were fireworks on the beach, comfortable rockers on the porch, spending evenings on the porch enjoying the gorgeous view.
We went swimming in the Gulf, walked along the beach, fishing in the State Park, and visited some of the local restaurants. Recommend That Place on 98, BJs, and the great little grocery store on the island. The McGrath Family

We all had such a wonderful, relaxing time. For the 1st time, I felt at home on a vacation. The ocean and the beaches were beautiful and the house was amazing.
