We stayed during Christmas week 2009. We'd hoped for snow for the kids (we live in SE FL) - Boy ! be careful what you wish for. 20+" on the ground the day we arrived.
Pauline & Roy communicated with us regularly on the build up to our visit. She helped coordinate with us the ability to pick up some snow chains from Boone (the nearest Town) and without these chains the vacation would have been a disaster.
The property itself was great. Very clean and welcoming. The location was excellent - on a ridge that runs on top of a mountain, with fantastic views either side.
The on-site community maintenance manager (Tele)was a big help taking us up and down the mountain in his 4WD buggy - as our minivan had to be abandoned at the bottom of the mountain all week due to the snow and ice on the very steep mountain road up to the property.
Loads of wild-life and walks within the community as well as lots to do in and around the area.
Using the hot tub at night coupled with the log fire was a great treat and something very different from our life in SE Florida.
We would definitely recommend this property to our friends and family and will probably go back in Summer.
If you are going in Winter - be aware that ANY snow in the area will mean a minimum of snow chains, but preferably chains with 4WD. However its well worth it. |

The Boone/Valle Crucis area had Two Feet of snow followed up by a Christmas Day ICE STORM which made travel in the NC Mountains Hazardous Please come prepared for winter weather conditions. 4WD is HIGHLY RECOMMEND. WE are Glad Our Guest Had a wonderful time and would come back..Thank You

| We stayed at the Grand Lodge in Boone, NC. It was a lovely home, very comfortable and clean for our family of seven.(six adults and one child. We will go back as soon as possible! |

The Grand Lodge was great; everything we were hoping for and more. The cabin is easy to get to, right outside of Boone, close enough to grocery stores and shopping, but secluded so that you don't feel like you are on top of your neighbors. We really enjoyed the hot tub and fireplace the most. We cooked on the grill, made a fire, and watched movies most evenings. We wish we came earlier to see the leaves, but the views were wonderful nonetheless. We would definitely come back in the future. If you are looking for a place to rest and relax, enjoy a warm fire, and sit outside and listen to nature, this is a great place for you.

My family of 5 had an amazing time at the Grand Lodge. We took bike rides, went fishing, and enjoyed the hot tub. We loved the views from the mountaintop and enjoyed the silence that the mountain had to offer. We would def recommend this vacation spot to others.

We wanted a "get-a-way" and boy did we get our wish. We had a wonderful time and your home is lovely!
We did not want to leave, but the real world needs us back :-)

We were sitting on the deck last night before dark and a beautiful deer and her two "little" babies came right up on your
property, I reached for the camera but was not quick enough. It was the such a surprise, they went around the small patch
of woods and crossed the street towards the pond.

| What a beautiful home! The views around in this neighborhood are breathtaking (know that word is used a lot, but they were some of the best views I saw in the area). House is cozy & clean - felt away from it all while there. Thanks so much for a great stay! |

| We absolutely love the Grand Lodge. We just got back from our 2nd visit. We hope to make it an annual vacation! The house is beautiful, as well as the furnishings and decor. The kitchen, dining area, and living room are all very open (plenty of room for everyone to have their own space). The bedrooms are super comfortable and beautifully decorated! The outdoor surroundings around the lodge are picturesque. Plenty of postcard scenery! My kids loved building fires in the firepits and making smores under a star-filled sky! What a wonderful retreat. I would highly recommend the Grand Lodge to everyone!! |

| What a lovely home. It is sp private you immediate feel like you're on vacation. The home is beautiful, immaculately clean and very new. it even smells new. It is close to a lot of great music and dining in Boone and Blowing Rock but it is a bit remote and away from the hustle and bustle. We really anjoyed fishing at the private pond with trout a very short walk down the hill. Ourr kids are 5 and 3 and they easily navigated the walks. Our 5 year old caught his first fish in the pond. The furnishings are new, comfortable. The home is fully equipped with a beautiful Jacuzzi tub and a new spa on the deck. The beds are comfortable and it is nice to be ina place that is very private, yet with the safety of being gated. We'll be bcak! Plwease feel free to email me if you have any questions. |
