A beautiful apartment in a wonderful setting. We had a very happy, restful and indulgent few days here and can't wait to visit again!

I stayed in these apartments and was completely amazed by the vista, the clear air, the view of Gibraltar and the incredible friendliness of everyone in this small mountain village. I can highly recommend these accomodations to anyone!

This apartment is a lovely honest apartment that does what it say on the tin. Fully equipped - 2 bathrooms, air con, washing machine, microwave, wired for sound – and scrabble and some good books. Views - easily matches anything you'll get in a classically remote finca - there is no aesthetic downside to the village location. The swimming pool is a decent length. The owner has a quick swim each morning (through a private entrance and before we ever managed to get up); and is otherwise for your exclusive use. Parking - locked garage with remote control door. (NB: this is an old Andalucian village, dating from Roman times; and the streets, including the entrance to the garage, are better suited to smaller cars, such as a Mini. The local roads are superb driving roads – a riot of twists and turns, and you'll have a better time hiring a compact size car that’s happy on the twisty bits as opposed to wrestling with an SUV or luxo-barge.) Deli opposite. Supermarket about 5 minutes walk. All in a village that, somehow, has managed to remain unspoiled. The apartment is the top floor of the owners' own house; and, while it shares a front door, the interior entrances are private and separate. It feels like your own front door. The hosts are charming and helpful and respect your privacy 100% at all times.

In short, this is a real “best of both worlds” find. You get the views, pool and privacy of a rural cottage with the convenience and security of a peaceful and conveniently-located village location.

My wife and I stayed at Rosa Alta in early July 2009 and it was a wonderful experience. A few days before we left for Andalusia we had some problems at home and had to re-arrange parts of our vacation and at one point we feared we might have to cancel altogether but we are so glad we did not - the apartment is luxurious, the setting breathtaking and the welcome from the owners is warm and friendly. Other guests had commented that going out sightseeing in this part of Andalusia was fun but the best part was always going back to Rosa Alta and once you have stayed there you understand why. Sitting out on the covered patio with stunning views over the mountains and down to the Straits of Gibraltar was simply unforgettable.
The pool area is as fine as you will ever see in a vacation apartment and the village of Gaucin itself is memorably perched on the top of a mountain giving panaromic views all the way across to Africa. The drive over the mountains to Ronda is exceptional with many viewing points along the way but none of them can beat the view from the apartment at dusk with the moon coming up and with a glass of Spanish wine in hand you enjoy the night time cool - a wonderful place to spend time in Southern Spain and one of the most outstanding vacation rentals you will ever find for 2-3 people. You definitely need a car to get around and the streets of Gaucin are tight for driving in but we cannot recommend this apartment highly enough for the quality of the location and the superb facilities it has.

A truly beautiful apartment, with lots of history, character and space, lovely decor and furnishings, and gorgeous views from a stunning terrace. An equally beautiful pool area and sunbathing terrace below, again with stunning views.
It's hard to leave the place to go in to town or sightseeing!
We would highly recommend staying here. Fantastic.

My husband and I spent the month of January 2008 in this most fabulous apartment. From the moment we opened the door we knew we would love our stay! Afternoon lunches were enjoyed on the terrace with the sounds of the town surrounding us as we enjoyed the sun and the fabulous view. Day trips to Gibraltar, Cordoba, Ronda were all within easy distance, but it was always nice to get back. We will definitely return! Thank you Sylvia for creating this wonderful paradise. We fully agree with the other comments made in the guestbook. Great secrets can't be kept for ever!

" A home away from home "

After long days trekking in the beautiful Andalucian
mountains, we always said:
Lets go home! And really meaning it. Have you ever
said that while staying at a hotel?
Going back to Rosa Alta was going home. Every
night! We have travelled a lot, sometimes in luxury,
but never experienced this feeling before. The
discrete charm that surrounded us every moment.
From the private poolside, the flowers, the sunset
over Africa to the wonderful sound of silence that is
so genuine for Gaucin.
This is something you only should let your best
friends know. Share it with the ones you love.
We´ll be back!

An absolutely stunning apartment-felt so at home and comfortable here immediately. The people of Gaucin are very friendly and warm. The views from the apartment are incredible and the decor in the apartment is beautiful! I am a frequent traveler and this apartment is one of my favorite ever.

In “Rosa Alta”, a Spanish village house, elegance, comfort and authenticity are effortlessly blended, and many small touches demonstrate the pride Sylvia takes in providing a beautiful living environment for her guests. It is truly like being in one’s own home.

We stayed here for the month of April, 2007, and wholeheartedly endorse the comments made in the guest book to date. This is so much more than a rental property – from its surprising spaciousness; double glazed windows and floor to ceiling doors; heating, air conditioning and two fireplaces with wood supplied; plus two super-large bathrooms, one with underfloor heating. An excellent queen size bed; towelling robes; a very generous supply of quality (ironed) bed linen and bath towels, as well as a comprehensive stock of basic cooking ingredients, really set this apartment apart from the many in which we’ve stayed during our various travels. Also provided is broadband internet with PC and large LCD screen, as well as wi- fi access - virtually essential these days but rare in Spanish lettings – together with a book selection from an excellent library..

For a couple especially, the apartment has an extremely workable floor plan, with flowing, yet well separated, deceptively large spaces. The living areas and both bedrooms enjoy ever changing valley, village and mountain views through a balcony with triple arches. We made good use of the second bedroom as an office/workroom, quite large enough for two people.

We specially liked walking to everything in the village, being convenient to the coast while avoiding living in a tourist enclave, and the truly extraordinary beauty of the natural environment. Ample opportunities exist for fascinating day trips exploring neighbouring white villages, cork forests, and coastal towns.

We rented the Rosa Alta apartment for the month of Dec. and had a truly enjoyable & delightful stay. The aptmt
is well furnished and very adequately equipped with all the facilities that one does not normally expect in a rental. It is large, clean and very well built. The wireless internet was an added bonus.
The views are absolutely spectacular and the village is charming and very friendly. The little shops, stores, butcher shop and bakery have a great supply of almost everything.
We also enjoyed the local restaurants which offer a good quality european cuisine.
Sylvia, the owner, is very caring and accomodating. We commend her for offering this facility for rent and highly recommend it for its amenities and location.

I rented both the Rosa Alta apartment, and the Moroccan Den from Syliva for the same week. For the price, you cannot beat these apartments. They are wonderfully decorated, well equipped, share a beautiful pool and views that won't quit. I've stayed in the neighboring Casares, in their best available apartments, and it cannot compare. The pictures do not do these apartments justice; they are much, much nicer and very large.

Our weeks stay at the 'Rosa Alta' apartment capped off a fortnights honeymoon spent exploring the andulucian region & what a way to round off a holiday of special significance. 'Luxury Flat' as it is described in the brief is no overstatement either. Quite often a summer break can be tarnished if the weather doesn't perform for you & it is only perhaps then that you discover the shortcomings of your holiday accommodation. Not so in this case. So enticing was the apartments appeal that it was quite often a toss up between staying in or heading out, even when the sun was shining with all it's glory. For anyone with an appreciation of aesthetics this place really does stimulate the senses. The contents range from the weird (stuffed crocodiles, day of the triffids-esque plant life) to the wonderful (floor to ceiling mosaic walk-in showers, panoramic vistas over Gibraltar & Morocco) & the whole apartment enjoys a very extravagant yet subtle, chic feel. The private infinity pool, for which you have exclusive access, is also rather special with sliding patio doors at one end revealing a breathtaking rural backdrop. The village itself is a charming, whitewashed tangle of narrow, twisting streets & possesses quite a bohemian flavour. The few restaurants there are predominantly english run & all boast surprising a la carte, modern european cuisine.

For anyone wishing to escape the madness of urban life for a while, this superb accommodation set within a quite stunning mountain village could not be recommended any higher.

This is a stunning apartment in a beautiful building
with incredible views. The terrace is wonderful and the
whole place is hugely relaxing - we loved it. The high
speed internet access is a major bonus. Gaucin is a
quiet town in a beautiful area, well away from the
crowds. We will return!

Sally and I stayed here in Gaucín for the first three weeks of September 2005, just as the temperatures were starting to cool down to suit our taste.

The apartment is without doubt the most beautiful, comfortable and well-equipped apartment that we have ever stayed in. It is bright and airy and has the most 'sobresaliente' views stretching down to Gibraltar, Ceuta and Morocco.

We enjoyed breakfast and other meals on the sheltered balcony almost every day. Gaucín is a pretty, well-kept white village, complete with castle, in a spectacular setting. After our days out, it was a delight to come back "home" to such a lovely apartment and village.

For me personally, having the Internet in the apartment (it really is highspeed) was invaluable as I have to bring some of my secular work with me. It saved endless trips to an Internet cafe.

A real 'chill out' place, very relaxing home-from-home with everything you could need. Wonderful views of the mountains and down to Gibraltar and Morocco from the balcony. The owner, Sylvia, was very welcoming and helpful. Many good restaurants in the village and nearby. Broadband and wifi internet access a definite plus!

This is our fifth stay at a guest house in Spain. We have been here three weeks and absolutely loved it. The views are marvelous (to the coast and Africa), the town is very comfortable for tourists, but is not overwhelmed with tourists. Having a high speed internet connection and a washing machine were a huge plus. The apartment is perfect in every way, with a great collection of CDs, DVDs and books for entertainment on those evenings when you don´t feel like tapa hopping. The owner is very gracious and accomodating, with lots of helpful suggestions about places to visit, dine etc. We could not possibly have enjoyed this part of our stay in Spain more than we did.

My children & I have rented over 30 cabins, houses, apartments, & w/out ? this is my absolute favorite. The ambience is restful & comfortable, & when out on an excursion all we really wanted to do was to come back to this special abode. We lead demanding lives & this has been the perfect tonic! & I love Gaucvin! It is graceful & alive. Everyone with whom I had contact was "muy amable."

Our vacacion in Gaucin was perfect. The weather was wonderful, the people are warm and kind, and this apartment is beautiful beyond words. Every convenience is provided, the decor is brilliant, and the views of Africa and Gibraltar are breathtaking. Shops and dining are only a short walk along charmingly ancient streets but I enjoyed our Spanish kitchen so much that I looked forward to cooking in. For a real taste of Spain, I highly recommend this peaceful, beautiful little spot in the mountains.
