We were absolutely THRILLED with our cabin! There are just so many thoughtful & homey touches! The cabin was SPOTLESS - including the bathroom - which is neglected in most places - even nice hotels. The bed(s) are comfortable as is the furniture in the living area. We thoroughly enjoyed our tubbing by the creek! It was so peaceful - just what we needed to celebrate our 12th Anniversary and my husband's 50th birthday. Even our dogs had a great time exploring!
Thank you for the perfect getaway and all the suggested places to eat and visit - they were all "SPOT ON." (We'd like to pass on to other guests that eating at the Balsam Inn is wonderful!)
Dave and Shirlene - you can be sure we will be back again and again! We have already booked two more visits for this year!

Dave & Shirlene: What a wonderful time we have had in your "super clean and comfy cabin"! We will surely visit again. Had a wonderful time visiting the many craft fairs during this time of year. The leaves were beautiful--especially on the Parkway. Hope everyone who visits goes up through Maggie Valley to Cataloochee to see the elk. What a sight even though the ride was a bit "hairy". It was worth it! Once there, the ranger told us it is even better on cloudy days. We will be back!

Shirlene & Dave: Not having met you face-to-face (since you'r at the Grand Canyon!) we know you are special people to have fixed up these darling cabins so beautifully, comfortably, with everything handy anyone could need! What a joy to come into a place to find it so perfectly taken care of! So cozy with the knotted pine panelling; loved using the fireplace, listening to that great creek, relaxing in the hot tub. Balsam is a lovely area so away from the "rush" of things. It's been a great 5 days (we were lucky to book) so we'll be back and look forward to meeting both of you. We (by the way) loved the Grand Canyon but these NC mountains are hard to beat! Thank you for a very special time.

Our trip to the cabin was something we anticipated for months. We love the couch! It is just the perfect size for two to nap. We are off to the store...Saturday we drove to Uncle Bill's Flea Market and went shopping in Bryson. What a great place. We had a great day and came back to the cabin, relaxed in the hot tub (we LOVE the hot tub!) and made dinner. Sunday we went to Deep Creek to hike and see the waterfalls; it was SO beautiful! We probably hiked a good 3 miles or so and then stopped for a picnic lunch. Got back around 5:30, started dinner and yet again, the hot tub was irresistable so we hopped in and relaxed. Dinner was great and we loved that we didn't have to go out to eat. Here it is Monday morning & we don't want to go! We have really enjoyed being here; it truly is a home away from home. We will be back for sure. Everything about this place reminds me to thank God for all my blessings; you, Dave & Chris and the cabin are included. Thanks again!

We arrived on Thurs evening w/ expectations of being out in the wilderness. Yes, we were in Balsam, NC, which has nothing, but we were thinking of no major roads & complete seclusion! However, the more we settled into the house & decided to make the best of being near a few cities, the more we fell in love w/ where we were. Yes, it was a little of a shock for people who hang out in the woods a great deal, but at the same time, your hospitality & sweetness prevailed through everything else. We took a hike to the top of Pinnacle Mtn for a 7 mile hike, which was beautiful, then we preceeded to WCU for a frisbee match, which was another beautiful adventure! So, all in all, we loved this place. Our dogs were sooooo welcome, which always makes a vacation that much better. We had a wonderful dinner in Waynesville, make one hell of a lasagna in your cabin, drank a bottle of wine, & had a 12-pack of beer while enjoying the river & the great sounds of bugs & other wildlife. We are continuing w/ our journey down the parkway to Asheville as we take in Balsam Lake & the highest point off the parkway. We really did enjoy our stay & we can't wait to bring friends your way. Thank you so much & our dogs enjoyed their stay too. Next time we will bring our own butter or olive oil as we lather each other down because we can't afford the $50 hot tub deposit! Too funny! What more could you ask for from two Clemson students!! Go Tigers!!

Dear Shirlene & Dave: We had such a lovely time in your cabin. You took care of all the necessities of a cozy home away from home. Nothing starts the day better than a dip in the jacuzzi on your creekside porch. It fueled our fun days & the fire ring was a warm serenity at the day's close. Some favorite spots were the drive to Pisgah Forest (thru Waynesville on 276), the waterfalls there, dinner at the Pisgah Inn, downtown Asheville on a Sat. night, the Gazebo Creekside Cafe for lunch on a creek in Franklin, the Dillsboro shops & train, a picnic on Mt. Mitchell, a stroll through downtown Waynesville, & of course whitewater rafting. We toured the Biltmore Estate & had a special dinner at the Inn with our daughter who works there. This was the trip we needed to relax & enjoy nature. The cabin was wonderful. I won't even mention the need for screens; many have gone before us on that issue, so there must be a good reason for their absence. We look forward to returning in the future & seeing all the additions that Dave is working on. We wish you all good things, and thanks again & again.

Our friends, my husband & I had a great stay here! We enjoyed the porch, the fire pit & the grill. The stream is wonderful. We also really enjoyed being able to bring our 2 mini dachshunds along- they had a nice time, I think! We would have loved screens on the windows so we could open them at night- in all the rooms. Walt & I live in a large metropolis with a fairly hectic life & tons of people & traffic. Everyday Walt takes me to work & then comes to get me, so 80 miles per weekday in major traffic. We got my mother out of a nursing home to end of 99 and this is our first vacation in 6 years. Walt has lived all over the world. We agree- this is the best, this beautiful modern cabin by a stream, with a lovely hot tub. We've enjoyed the peace very much. We've enjoyed scenic drives, waterfalls, some hiking and a train trip. We ate out every morning for breakfast and did sandwiches at home in the evening. Favorite eats-blackberry cobbler from Ingles! We would make only one suggestion- same as another tenant_ a screen door would be very nice, letting in air & sounds of the stream. A perfect vacation-we thank you very much- and so does our birdie "Baby Phoebe"!

We really enjoyed spending our honeymoon in your cabin. While we were here we shopped in Maggie Valley, broke down on the Parkway, had dinner in Asheville, climbed Chimney Rock, picnicked in the forrest, slid down sliding rock & had drinks at Omalleys in waynesville. The only suggestion I have is for screens on the front window so you can let the fresh air in & keep the bugs out. Thanks.

This was the first time my brother and I brought our families together. This was the perfect place to do that. We enjoyed the picnic table and the grill. The hot tub was a welcome end to a day. We found the cabin to be more than adequate and look forward to a return trip. Thank you for providing our families with this opportunity.

What a beautiful place. We didn't do anything, but enjoy the peace & quiet. The hot tub was wonderful. It sure was nice to find a place away from all the rush of life. My husbank and I came up here because we are moving to Waynesville next month. We found this cabin on the internet and thought it would be a nice place to stay while we explore the city we will soon be calling home. We had no idea how perfect this cabin would be for our weekend. We had a wonderful time here. The got tub is awesome & we both love the sound of the stream. We hope one day we can have something like David & Shirlene have up here. But the most important part of this weekend was knowing the area we are moving to is just right for us. Thanks for sharing your cabin!!

Wow! We haven't been to Maggie Valley in 5 1/2 yrs. We had a great time! We fell in love w/MV in 1998. It was our first "family only" vacation. We visited again in 99. Other commitments have kept us away, but now we live only 4 hrs away. We need a break after a summer of turmoil & a fall of transition (moving) to a new place & getting settled. We are now ready to face the gruelling demand of everyday life. The hot tub (even w/cold weather) and warming in front of the fireplace was so relaxing. Our dog "Chloe" even had a relaxing time. We were glad to be able to bring her with us. We will be back soon!

Our weekend here was awesome! We were totally surprised with this beautiful cabin. We found it on the internet & we didn't see any pictures of the inside & usually when you don't see pictures of a particular part, it's usually for a reason- if you know what I mean. We were shocked when we walked in. It is SO beautiful!- Clean, New & it had Everything we needed & then some! With my husband's long work hours & busy schedule& my poor health we were due for a vacation get-a-way. We didn't get to do anything for our 2nd anniversary this year & yesterday was my 25th birthday. This will be a birthday I'll never forget! Thank you so much for letting us bring our dog "Rufus" he thoroughly enjoyed it too & he loved being able to run around & explore! We can't wait to visit again" Thank you! Brett & Jennifer

This mountain trip has definitely been one of a kind. TJ & I have been to this area 3 years in a row. We fell in love with Maggie Valley when we first started dating in 2001 and made it a fall/winter trip since. But, this year is extra special!! We are engaged to be married & I was in total shock when he proposed here in the cabin!! The cabin is beautiful & we love the stream below. Such peaceful sounds really relax the mind from our work stress and everyday life. Most definitely_ Sit N Whittle will never be forgotten & we look forward to making this an adventure for years to come. God Bless.

We really enjoyed our stay here. It was short, but so relaxing. This was the perfect place to come on our first vacation together since we were married. The leaves were beautiful on the Parkway: but for those people like us who had no idea how long it was, be ready to ride & ride;but it is wonderful!! We also went into Cherokee & did some shopping. Thanks for letting us stay here. We had so much fun!!

We thoroughly enjoyed spending our homeymoon in your lovely cabin. It was so cozy and clean. The sound of the creek and relaxing in the hot tub made our stay all the more worthwhile. Away from the cabin we spent our days in Dollywood and Pigeon Forge. Thanks for allowing us to stay in your cabin during the happiest time of our lives. Our only regret was having to leave.

this weekend marked the first days of the rest of my left. Not only did I have a wonderful time in this peaceful place, I was able to build memories to last me the rest of my life. No one should have to go through life alone. What I learned this weekend, by the stream, was that the someone that breaks your loneliness could be as close as that best friend with a warm smile- besides what a place to fall in love!!!!

What a surprise to be the fist occupants of your home. We've enjoyed our week here. We've ridden horses, taken a trin ride, fished, gone down sliding rock & eaten!!!! Your cabin is very nice. One thing I missed though was a pitcher to brew iced tea in. (got one) We enjoyed your grill & the hot tub was a welcome relief at the end of the day. We know you'll enjoy your time here & we hope you have many renters in the future.
