Dear Brad Thank you for a marvelous stay at your cottage. The view was beautiful and the home was lovely. Although the weather was off and on, depending on the day, we loved Maine and Booth Bay. Due to to your cottage, we spent most of our time simply enjoying Booth Bay and your home - never really traveled beyond. We hope to return to Maine in the future and when we do, we will see if your property is available. Thanks again. Hope we left everything in tack and good shape. P.S. Your mother was obviously most talented - my wife enjoyed reading about her and her adventures. And, her art work was gorgeous.

Hi Brad, The Loft was the highlight of our trip!! I'm so thankful that Bruce found you on VRBO! As soon as I walked in and saw your mother's art I was touched. Bruce and I were completely taken by her books you had there to share with us. I felt so connected with her and wished that I could have met her. What a wonderful writer she was also. We, of course, couldn't finish reading them both and we were wondering if we could get copies? We were so taken that we went into Booth Bay and scoured any shops that had books asking for them and had no luck. Then we just decided to stop by the library's used book store. After I told my story to the lady behind the desk she laughed and said that Mr. Barton usually works there but she was filling in for him. What a surprise it would have been for me to launch into my long story about the Loft and your mother and have your father say that he was her husband! So, can we get copies? Let us know and we'll mail you a check. It's interesting but I couldn't keep my eyes off of the gold and white piece on the tall wall. I didn't know if it was suppose to be something but it felt so familiar. Then it came upon me all of a sudden.....for me it was a negative image of the spirals and lines of a nautilus shell. And the large spinning wheel next to it fit right in with the theme of spiraling inward...to me both were the depiction of the wheel of life and the inward journey. I love all of the special items in the house that I could tell were there when your mother did her "living" there....all of the dated things, very charming. And thank you so much for the gift of the wine! Very thoughtful of you and we really enjoyed our glass every evening. We had some friends drive down on the last night and sleep in the downstairs bedroom and they enjoyed the Loft also. What a wonderful deck and the weather was great for us to sit out and appreciate the expanse of the bay. Our home in Lino Lakes is backed up against a forest so we have a home that is tucked in and craddled. To experience the height above the water and the expansive view was very healing for us. We both felt that we would love to return, Brad. Don't forget to let us know if we can purchase your mother's books. Susan

Brad, It was nice to talk with you the morning we left Boothbay Harbor. The Wondrous Loft: we immediately valued the architecture and setting, especially meaningful because of your mother's artistic and loving insights. We both thank you for allowing us to share a part of her.
Our week at The Loft was truly one of our most relaxing and pleasant experiences, so different from our usual busy travel. One evening at the town library, we heard an exchange teacher from China who offered his political insight and family experiences. The galleries and shops were freshly opened for the season, the plants were beginning to blossom, and the restaurants and fresh seafood were great. Marv enjoyed our visits to two alpaca farms..... cute and furry, but not at our house! Every time we left The Loft, we wanted to hurry back to enjoy its peaceful nature. My camera easily caught that feeling, and I treasure my photos. Both Marv and I want to return again to Boothbay, but only to The Loft. Unfortunately, the week covering the end of August into September will not work for us, but we are considering the first week of October unless you have a cancellation in September which would be our first choice. I am somewhat hesitant about the October weather. Our May week was amazing: sun every day, a few minutes of rain the last evening, good temps. We would definitely like to schedule a week in '09 the end of May or early June. When do you consider reservations for next year? Wishing you pleasant times in Boothday this summer, Judith and Marvin J

Brad, Donna and I have had such a relaxing and enjoyable week in this beautiful place. The view from here is awesome and we have looked out on it every morning as we ate breakfast. We feel privileged to be in your lovely cottage and would recommend this location as a vacation spot for anyone looking for a place to get away from the city and enjoy the quiet and beauty of nature. We were very comfortable here, the antiques are lovely and we particularly enjoyed the beautiful artwork. Thank you for providing such a great place for us to vacation. We are indeed appreciative. Sincerely, Bill and Donna R

Hi Brad,
The Loft is a wonderful place, especially because it was used and loved by such a wonderful artist. Meg and I were bowled over by the quality of your mother’s work. We were grateful that you left some of her books that discussed her work and writings. We found her fabric art on display there to be very sophisticated and actually quite moving. She was very talented and gifted to say the least. The more we looked at them, the more we could see, so she was giving us a very insightful look at her world.
Her writing and observation skills were equally amazing! She was an outstanding writer, and her journal sketches of her life and work were absolutely beautiful. Your mother was an artistic gem! It began to dawn on us right away that the baskets, spinning wheel and other artifacts all had some connections, and her writings brought much of that together. We’re guessing that the baskets are from her adventures in Africa.
We are grateful you are sharing The Loft with visitors, and we certainly hope to visit again sometime soon. Of course the views and sounds were just stunning!
I’ll send you a few images next week sometime.
Thanks again!

Brad,
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! We had a fabulous week in Boothbay harbor. Your place is very special. We watched the sunrise every morning, went on three great hikes (Linekin, Oven's Mouth and Dodge Preserves), grilled nightly on your nice new grill, and relaxed a lot. What a wonderful place and we hope to return next year around the same time. Our baby felt right at home, too. She slept thru every night :)
Take care and we will be in touch next year,

I just wanted to drop you a note to let you know how much my husband and I enjoyed staying at The Loft. It was really beyond what we had hoped for or envisioned. The weather was pretty poor the first half of the vacation, but that did not lessen our enjoyment at all. It was quite something to get up in the morning and see the fog rolling in, and the lobstermen checking their traps. There were a couple of osprey and eagles that took early morning perch in the trees in the front of the house. I also enjoyed all the textile art hanging on the walls. Is Nancy Heminway your mother? Thanks so much for your welcoming bottle of wine. We enjoyed drinking it on the deck.

Hi Brad, Very glad that we had a chance to meet you. We had a wonderful 3 weeks in Maine and having chosen The Loft was the thing that put the vacation over the top! The view has to be one of the best in the state and the location was perfect for just about everything that we wanted to do. We were up by 6 every morning having coffee on the deck in sunshine or fog enjoying the beauty, the coolness....it was wonderful and I wished that we could have stayed another 3 weeks....or 4 or 5.... I also wanted to say that your mother must be an incredible person.... Also, thanks so much for the wine that you had for us on our arrival, it was wonderful & a lovely thought. I sure would love to live in Maine it is really "The Way Life Should Be".....as the state advertises itself. Don't know what are plans are for next year but staying at The Loft I know would be another wonderful time. Take care, Julie
