We love the Crabtree Apartments!

My family and I, Jonathan 14 , Madison 9 and my brother spent our vacation at the Crabtree House in July 2009.
I have never felt so welcome in my life.
The apartment was lovely so fresh and so clean! For my kids and I it was our first time in Turks and Caicos.
It is hard to find the right words to describe our stay because it was so beautiful. For me it was heaven on earth! ( I am hoping heaven will be like Grand Turk.)
The view is amazing, the morning I would have my coffee on the patio and wondered if there was anything better than this! This is what life is all about! Peace, calmness, relaxation!
No stress, no noise, no polution.
My two kids enjoyed it very much as well. We had brought our snorkling gear but the Crabtree house had it all: floating matresses, fins, goggles etc...
The kids were never bored thanks to the dogs who were visiting us on a daily basis. If you see this female black lab her name is Bonzie and she will do swimming with you. We had another couple of potcakes that adopted us. It felt just like home but....better!
Long walks on the beach at sunset were amazing.
Maria was very nice and very helpful, she had sent a cab to pick us up at the airport!
Anyways if you are looking for relation, free of stress vacation, peace this is the place to go! You will not be disappointed!
My kids and I are coming back probably in March. We wanted February but it is pretty much booked up for the days we needed.
I can not wait!

My husband and I just returned from an awesome trip to Turks and Caicos and Grand Turk. We stayed the first few days on the Island of Providenciales, which was awesome too, but we really enjoyed the quiet, laid back pace of Grand Turk. We really enjoyed the Crabtree Apartments and the privacy they offered. We were in Unit 1, which is a corner unit. We were the only ones there which was definitely nice, but if the other units were occupied, I don't think it would matter. The apartments are right on the beach with French doors that open up onto the outdoor living room and the beach with the bluest waters I’ve ever seen. The outdoor living room was a great place to read and enjoy the beach, while staying out of the sun. The apartment was very well equipped with a fully stocked kitchen, Caribbean themed cd’s and wonderful linens and beach towels. The home provides wonderful cross ventilation and with the ceiling fans, we never needed to turn on the air conditioning, which was wonderful for listening to the crashing waves and enjoying the sea air. We made breakfast and lunch home most days and ate out in the evenings. There were some groceries to get us started when we arrived such as eggs, bread, coffee and milk, what a great touch. I wished we had brought a raft of something to float on in the water which is calm like a swimming pool.
The town is only a short walk along the beach or a 5 minute bike ride (bikes were provided). We brought a mask and snorkel with us and snorkeled right off of the beach at Crabtree. We rode the bikes to the stores every few days to get more water. It wasn’t a big deal to use bottled water, which we used for coffee, ice cubes, drinking and brushing our teeth. We went to the Sandbar almost every day to chat with the locals and other visitors and drink Richard’s fantastic Rum Punch. We also went to the BBQ at the Osprey Beach Hotel, not to be missed. The island of Grand Turk took quite a hit from Hurricane Ike, which is evident throughout the island, but they are rebuilding and the locals are very happy to have tourists back on the island. There is a cruise ship center on the island, where large cruise ships come and dock every few days. In regards to activities, we rented a golf cart from Nathan Smith (Maria told us where to find him) and toured the island and went out to the lighthouse. We went snorkeling with Oasis Divers one afternoon out to the wall and to Governors Beach. The highlight of the trip was an afternoon with Smitty of Grand Turk Divers where we went to Gibbs Caye for an afternoon of snorkeling and swimming with Sting Rays, followed by a beach bbq and Rum Punch. We hope to go back to Grand Turk someday and if we do, we will definitely stay at Crabtree Apartments.

We just returned from a glorious 12 days at The Crabtree, and enjoyed what we judge as the most restful holiday of our 42 years of marriage. What comfort! What sea sounds! And what a wonderful beach. We cooked in all but 3 nights and had shopping adventures several times a week. (The island is still recovering from Hurricane Ike and several stops on our bicycles were needed to get all supplies, a real adventure.) The best restaurant on Grand Turk, Captain Zhangs, is 200 meters away, an easy walk. Tom took diving lessons at Blue Waters and Linda read 5 books, relaxing on the beach on Crabtree chase lounges. We also enjoyed Mitch Rolling's Rip Saw Band at The Osprey for the Sunday Barbeque. Those hoping to experience a night or two on Provo are encouraged to stay at The Sibonne on Grace Bay, a bargain as wonderful as The Crabtree though lacking kitchen facilities. We shall return!

I would like to thank you all for the lovely comments. It has been a while since I have read through them and as I read now I realize how lucky I have been to meet so many wonderful people, though not actually meet them since I am sadly in Massachusetts, but had many conversation on the phone and through e-mail, I feel I have gotten to know many of my guests. My wonderful counterpart Maria, my manager on Grand Turk, has had the pleasure of meeting you face to face. It always amazes me how friendly and wonderful people can be, I have even been invited to peoples houses if ever their way. You have been wonderful guest too. Caring for my place as if it were your own. Thank you for taking the time to write these reviews.

We were at the apartment(3 of us) for 15 days and had a fabulous time. Everything we needed was within walking distance. I even used one of the bikes at the apartment to ride to the lighthouse at the other end of the island. It was great just stepping from the apartment porch to the beach and into the ocean. Got lots of underwater pictures of great fish just off the porch and we would often just sit on the beach and read and work crosswords. A nice grocery store and good restaurants on a quiet island. The apartment was well furnished and the ocean breeze made it comfortable at night. Higlly reccommended.

We just returned from 8 nights at the Crabtree (June 2 to June 10). It was just what we wanted. The location is, I think, the best on the island. The beach is a few steps out the back door and you are within easy walking distance of the restaurants and dive shops in town. The kitchen is stocked with anything you would need to cook at the apartment. For diving, we went with Smitty of Grand Turk Diving and would definitely recommend him to all levels of divers. Don't miss the trip to Gibbs Cay! We biked to Governors Beach and the beach at the Bohio and both were nice. But our best beach time was spent right outside the Crabtree. Also, for those wondering, we cooked, made coffee, and brushed our teeth with tap water, but drank bottled water and used bottled water to make ice for mixed drinks and we did not have any problems. As far as restaurants, we only tried the Sandbar and the Osprey (Captain Zhengs was closed the week we were there) and both were pretty good. Make sure to go to the Osprey on Wednesday or Sunday since that is when they have the bbq/cookout. We did get takeout chicken from the Poop Deck, and it was very yummy, and the pieces were huge. All in all, a great trip.

My wife and I have been fortunate to visit many beaches and stay in many beach homes. Our stay at Grand Turk ranks as one the best beach experiences we've had in 15 years. The Crabtree doesn't try to be the fanciest place; it is cozy, cool, convenient and almost perfectly located. The house is situated maybe 25 feet from the water at high tide. The rooms are clean and nicely appointed. The small kitchen is plenty for 4 people and just about every major appliance is included (but no dish washer). Outside on the beach, two pine trees provide shade if so desired. Otherwise the sun is plentiful and the water is beautiful. Maria was extremely friendly as were all the locals we met. Leslie (owner) was also very friendly and easy to reach during the planning stages of our trip. The local food was excellent-- do not miss the grilled grouper at the Sand Bar or the Osprey Hotel. The island provides a quiet setting (we wouldn't have known a cruise ship was there if we hadn't gone looking for it) where you can pick and choose the level of activity you want. The scuba diving is outstanding, and as was the theme of our trip, easy to arrange. Overall, a great experience from top to bottom.

Myself and two friends just came back from Grand Turk and we had a wonderful, restful time. If you need to unwind, this is the place. The sound and smell of the ocean greets you every morning. Sitting on the porch just watching the waves roll in is relaxing. The apartment is fresh, bright and very inviting.

We rode bikes and swam alot. We went horse back riding and it was just us and two instructors. We had a wonderful time.

Thank you for having such a wonderful place to go.

Only now that we have returned to cold and rainy weather do we realize how wonderful our stay was in Grand Turk. We arrived on a Saturday, 3/29 and were greeted by Kathy Williams of Jack's Taxi. Don't know if this was requested by Crabtree Manager Maria Fernandez but it worked beautifully. Our only problem was that Spirit Air lost 2 of our bags but we did receive them by Tuesday. We occupied both the middle and north units and the connecting door between the two let us all feel we were staying together. During the whole week we only turned on the TV two times and were very surprised that the reception was so good and the networks were from the US. We rented a car from the airport for just one afternoon to explore the south end of the island, have lunch at Bohio Dive Resort and visit the lighthouse on the north end. Otherwise we walked and biked everywhere easily. We went diving with Smitty and Al of Grand Turk Diving and saw beautiful flora and fauna under the sea. The wall diving is wonderful! Everyday we had breakfast at the apartment and maybe lunch, too. Evenings we headed out for dinner (walking)and tried to call the restaurant ahead to let them know we were coming since we had a group of seven. Captain Zheng's was absolutely the freshest, best food around. Our younger members(17-23) loved eating at the Sandbar on Duke Street and just generally hanging out there. Mitch of Blue Water Divers entertained us a couple of nights with his High Tide Band at the Osprey Hotel's restaurant. A visit to the National Museum gave us the opportunity to purchase coffee roasted in Providencialis. This and the Tortuga Rum cakes purchased at the airport were the only souvenirs we brought home. The easterly winds were continuous and kept the apartments cool though mosquitoes were annoying to the sweeter members of our group. Our stay at the Crabtree Apartments on Grand Turk was a very relaxing retreat from all the pressures of our usual daily life. Thank you to Leslie and Jon!

My wife and i spent 8 wonderful nights in the center unit of Crabtree. We arrived late in the day and when we arrived found the unit spotless and ready for us, in addition Leslie had left us, Milk, eggs, bread and butter and water, which allowed us time to settle in and unwind before having to run out for groceries. The unit was very nice had everthing we needed. The beach was awesome (Lots of shells) we walked it every day you can go south all the way to the cruse center about 2 miles and north all the way to town, the water was crystal clear, we snorkled every day lots of fish near coral reefs and also lots of velvet bottom to stand on with no seaweed. We saw whales swim by one morning,Marie loved all the birds in Salina accross road, we used the bikes to shop and explore the island. If you want a place to enjoy the water and relax I'm not sure Grand Turk and Crabtree can be beat.

My sister and I have always looked for the perfect beach, one that has white sand, clear water and few people. Another criteria is to be right on the beach. We hit the jackpot.
The manager and the couple who drove us to and from the air port and grocery shopping (drink bottled water) were very dependable.
Our days went too quickly, riding the bikes which are provided, walking the beaches, and snorkeling right in front of the apartment. We did go to Gibbs Cay and swam with the stingrays. Be alert.
Thanks to Leslie and the communications we had before leaving for Grand Turk. The pictures depict the place perfectly.
Go and have fun, wish we could join you.

We had a wonderful time!

We went out with Oasis Diving to Gibs Cay. We dove for conch then went to a reef nearby for additional snorkeling. We went back to Gibs Cay for lunch and more snorkeling and fresh conch salad. Mario was in charge of our boat and he treated us like gold.

We went to the Cruise Ship Terminal a few times and learned that they are happy to have local visitors when a cruise ship is in port. We swam in their pool ate at Margaritaville and shopped in the stores there.

I was so impressed with the people on the island. We were looking for the Laundromat near Mooky Pookie Pizza so that we could get some ice and ran into the nicest old man who gave us directions and warned us about dangers of walking in the area (because of heavy vehicle traffic on Grand Turk!).

Edrico car rental was wonderful also. It was the first time I had ever rented a car without ever signing any kind of contract. I called them and the car was at the airport waiting for us.

We spent at least 3 or 4 hour hours snorkeling twice every day. Again it was wonderful. The fish are very colorful. Look for them around the rocky areas straight out from the apartment.

We had the whole trip crowned on Monday morning. As we were getting ready to leave for the airport I looked out to the water and saw a whale spout. We looked for a few more minutes and saw several more spouts and a few tail slaps. The Humpbacks were waiving goodbye to us.

Great time loved it Thanks.

We can say ditto to all of the positive comments
that have already been written. We loved the
apartment. Suggestions to future guests: Make
sure you bring enough cash, a lot of places don't
accept credit cards. Don't leave the front door
open because of mosquitos and no see ems. Take
some insect repellent and you'll be fine. I might
bring a few off candles or something like that next
time to sit out at sunset - but it was not really bad.
Try to walk on the beach to the left - to Sunset
Cabana, a locals place - but we had a very long wait
for our food, which was excellent - I would either
go or call ahead to order, saw a lot of people
getting take out. Dana from Oasis picked us up for
our morning dives which was great and was willing
to give us a ride back if we wanted - but mostly we
went to Waters Edge for conch chowder and quesa
dias and walked back to the apartment and stayed
there for the rest of the day. We will return.

My week on Grand Turk was a week in paradise. Crabtree Apartments is just footsteps from the beach. In fact, we were able to walk most anywhere we wanted to go (The Sandbar was our favorite "watering hole!") To our delight, the place was completely outfitted...lacking nothing. We even opened the refrigerator and cabinets to provisions for a few days. It is a charming place: clean and comfortable. All in all it was delightful and I hope I am able to return soon. It sure beat the weather up north...cooling breezes from the west kept us comfortable night and day. Great place and thanks for having us there!

Leslie,

I hope you guys never sell the Crabtree so I can return time and time again. It is one of my favorite places to be. It is just so perfect with that incredibly blue water right outside the door calling one to come and snorkel in the many reefs. And so many fish! We even saw whales this time just standing on the back patio! There's hardly any need to go anywhere, except maybe down to see Dolly and get some of her delicious cheesecake, and to the liquor store for rum punch supplies, and to the Poop Deck for the best chicken ever, and to Mookie's for the best pizza and to Osprey/or Salt Raker for some dancing w/Mitch and the band! And Water's Edge for dinner and great drinks and company! I guess there might be a reason or two to explore beyond the apartment but if one seeks solitude in a peaceful, serene setting with clean, comfortable accomodations (which are still just a stroll down the road from everything else), I'd recommend your place every time. It is the quintessential beach home away from home! Thank you and I know we'll be back soon, only this time for longer, maybe two or three weeks.

We stayed at Crabtree apts. over Christmas. The view of the ocean, the beach, the great snorkeling right at our back door - couldn't have been better. The location is perfect. You can walk to town or ride the bicycles that are with the apt. Also, the owner had left many amenities such as condiments, cleaners - even a fresh loaf of bread and a qt. of milk! This place is the ideal Caribbean get-a-way!
We hope to return there next summer. The owner is great to work with and very helpful with information about the island. Highly recommended!!!

Crabtree Apartments was the perfect place for us. The beach which is also the backyard was ideal for swimming snorkleing or just lounging. We hardly saw a soul on the beach all week. The apartment is well equipped and had everything we needed. Our favorite place was the verandah sitting and taking in the beautiful view. Hopefully we can return soon!
