| We spent a month in apartment #3 in November, and had a wonderful time - it was hard to leave. The lovely apartment has everything you could need, and is ideally situated. Yes, it is at the top of the hill, but there is a bus stop right outside the door, and the views more than compensate. We could walk almost everywhere we wanted to go from the apartment, and found the bus service very easy to use, as well as inexpensive. Thank you Ave and Doris for making our visit so enjoyable. We will definitely recommend this apartment to family and friends, and hope to see you again ourselves. |

| I recently spent 10 days in the 2E Unit for a fantastic visit to the city by the bay. the view from this unit was excellent with each morning a cup of coffee brewed in the excellent kitchen facilities and listening to classical music and watching the beautiful sunrise over the bay bridge. truly inspirational. We totally agree with all previous comments: this apartment is amazing!
Perfectly located, we had the feeling of staying in the neighborhood.
It was very clean, beautifully decorated and of course, the view is spectacular!
We have rented few VRBO's on the East Coast, but this one is our best!
We'd definitely stay here again if we return to SF and are recommending it to our family and friends.

| All the previous comments are accurate. We stayed in Unit 2 for a week - beautifully decorated, convenient, well appointed. Doris & Ave were great to deal with. Thanks for the extra touches - fresh flowers and treats!! Would definitely recommend this rental - all aspects of the experience exceeded expectations. (Bus 39 is convenient as previously noted, but quits running around 7:30 p.m. - the hill would be challenging for folks with physical limitations, but taxis are available for those later nights.) |

Everything said before is quite true and can be summed up in one word - immaculate.
A special treat is Bus 39 which stops at your front door, runs down the hill to Washington Square where you can transfer to many busses, then goes on to Fishermans Warf and returns via Coit Tower. If you are a senior, all for $0.50 including a transfer where you can ride practically all day (technically a couple of hours but no one checks). Not a senior - $1.50, exact change |

Beautiful views, great cooking pans and utensils in the kitchen, very comfortable bed, high quality and comfortable furniture, tv and sound system. Nothing that you would need or want was missing. | FABULOUS! Our family of 3 stayed in #3 and it was remarkable. What a wonderful way to truly see a city, to stay in a neighborhood - except we were afforded a terrific bonus - a garage! Not many in San Francisco have one. Having stayed in VRBO's from Hawaii to Paris this is among our very favorite. It was clean beyond belief, large and open, and exceeded our expectations. There is no comparison to a hotel in this city. Doris and Ave are remarkable people to have such a welcoming apartment for guests. Like many San Franciscans, I can’t accommodate visiting relatives in my apartment, which has resulted in my experimenting with various lodging options over the past 15 years. This is the very best vrbo has to offer. I am beyond grateful for the accuracy of the rental description, the owners’ responsiveness and warm reception, as well as for the welcoming touches greetings guests in the apartment, as others have already noted. The cleanliness of the place was very much appreciated, having had the unfortunate experience of scrubbing previous vacation rentals upon arrival! This is an outstanding property - and the owners are warm and friendly people to do business with.
You won't find a better place in San Francisco for a quiet getaway or honeymoon - a warm fireplace, sensational views, nearby access to some of the best cuisine in San Franciso - and very very affordable, fair rates. Coit Tower is right outside the dining room window.

Biscotti, chocolates, good coffee and fresh flowers waiting for you. Spanking clean, lovely and tranquil decor. 3 blocks from the heart of North Beach, easy walk to Russian Hill, Chinatown, Embarcadero, Fisherman's Wharf. Has everything you could possibly need to cook, but we ate out because there are too many good restaurants nearby! Many nice touches provided, including a book of SF historical walking tours which we used the heck out of. Wow! We'll be back. |

All the praise that has been lavished on this apartment is warranted!
The four of us (my husband, our two boys, ages 8 and 4, and myself)have just returned from a wonderful 5-day stay in the No. 2 East apartment beginning on New Year's Eve. It was a fantastic beginnning to 2008.
The pictures on the web site do not do the apartment justice; the views are wonderful.
The location is perfect, just East of North Beach, close to Coit Tower, and up the hill from the Ferry Building with its great shops. The kitchen is equipped with everything you might need. The apartment is immaculate and very tastefully appointed; even the DVD's and reading material provided are San Francisco-related. Though we experienced the deluge on our last day there, we were warm and cozy, sitting by the fireplace, sipping tea and reading. The garage for our car was a real plus though most times we walked or rode the Muni buses or the "F" cars but it was great not to have to worry about it.
We appreciated all the extra touches; fresh flowers, coffee from Cafe Trieste, biscotti, and chocolates; all signs of a caring host. We look forward
to our return!

| No point in repeating all the praise that others have heaped on this well-laid-out, thoughtfully furnished apartment with its drop-dead views and incomparable location, and its responsive and helpful owners. We stayed in #3 for 5 days, and particularly appreciated Doris's generous and precise advice on transportation to/from the airport and on food possibilities on Thanksgiving Day, which is when we arrived. Walking around and to/from the neighborhood is an exercise in SF history, and the quiet and safe environment was inviting for evening strolls. Some recommended nearby restaurants that haven't been mentioned: Piperade, on Battery, French/Basque; the wine bar at the Ferry Bldg's Wine Merchant. This apartment is pretty much heaven. |

Two words to describe our stay: ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. We travelled with our 2 young children, ages 8 months, and 2 yrs. It was a home away from home. They loved it. It was immaculately clean. The view was breath-taking. The kitchen had everything we needed to make our own baby food.
It was great to have a parking garage attached which was so convenient. This is the PERFECT location.
Thanks again Ave & Doris, we'll definitely be coming back to "Our San Francisco HOME" (as my 2 yr old calls it).

The negatives: It's on the top of a hill and is a pretty long walk from the subway (about a half hour), so getting around can bit a bit of a challenge if you've never exercised before or if you're elderly. I wouldn't recommend it for those two groups (unless you have a car).
The positives: everything else. While it's not IN North Beach (which is at the bottom of the hill), it's close enough where you can hang out there for dinner every night. It really is a vibrant neighborhood and a great place to come, have wonderful food and take in a wide variety of music. In truth, I ended up having a great time in San Francisco without ever having used the subway. I can't say I've ever done that in any other major city.
The place itself is beautiful. I stayed on the second floor unit with the view of the Bay Bridge. It's not a big apartment, but it's perfect for two and the entire side is made up of huge windows. If you love lots of light, you'll love this place. It was so nice waking up every morning to the morning mists giving way to the harbor and the bridge. Very romantic! It was really a home away from home. Will recommend to everybody. |

My friends and I decided to head up to SF for my birthday and escape the fires in LA. No location could have been better for a relaxing weekend. The apartment was fabulous, loved the attention to detail and complimentary biscotti and best of all it was worth every penny.
If you loved the Parrots of Telegraph Hill you will definitely appreciate the parrots roaming around outside and of course the breathtaking views. We did some great urban hikes in North Beach, ate at the cute Italian places and of course took in the views from the apartment and from Coit Tower.
Best weekend trip I've had in awhile.

Pictures don't do justice to this apartment! No detail was overlooked by the owners, Doris and Ave. The decor and all of the special touches (biscotti, chocolates, and coffee) were so thoughtful and appreciated. We especially liked the binder with suggestions and maps to help us get around the city on BART - and the garage for the rental car was a huge bonus.

The apartment was very clean and neat, with a kitchen well stocked with equipment as well as some food stuffs that you don't really want to buy for a 5 night stay-spices, mustard, tea's, etc. The views are magnificent and the pictures on the web site are true to life. Doris and Ave were excellent people to deal with and we would recommend their apartment as a good alternative to a hotel stay.Lastly, the garage was very useful, considering the limited parking in San Francisco. |

The fresh flowers, chocolate, coffee, and cookies were a wonderful personal touch. We really liked the neighborhood as it was quiet but close to great restaurants, stores, transportation, and tourist sights. The walk up the hill after dinner or a day of sightseeing provided us with a challenging cardio workout but by the end of our stay, we were able to make the hill without stopping. However, the bus does stop right in front of the apartment if the hill proves too much. The binder of information and all of the guidebooks were very useful. | If you have ever vacationed in San Francisco and fantasized about living there, you must stay at this apartment. Every window is a postcard view of some part of the city, but you are in a real neighborhood and a great one at that, so it is much better than staying in a hotel. Just down the hill is North Beach with lots of Italian restaurants, Chinatown is nearby, and so is the Ferry Building so you can stock the wonderful kitchen with all kinds of gourmet goodies. We walked most places, then usually took a cab home at the end of the day - all the cab drivers know the way. The apartment is lovely, even better than the photos, and the owners supplied all the guide books you could ever need. They also have put together a binder of info that I guarantee will cover whatever you are looking for - organic grocery stores, ferry schedules, whatever. There is also a huge walkin closet off the main room that you can put your luggage in after unpacking, so you're not constantly tripping over suitcases. Have a glass of wine on the rooftop deck to celebrate the start of your vacation, walk the local streets to admire the gardens and say hello to the neighbors walking their dogs, look for the green parrot colony in the nearby trees, make yourself at home, and enjoy! I can't wait to go back!! |

The apartment had everything one could want - it's fully appointed. Ave and Doris are great "hosts". We were in SF for my son's wedding on April 28 which also was great. |

Your apartment was extremely comfortable with beautiful furnishing and all the amenities. It truly enhanced the San Francisco experience. You’ve thought of everything (I loved the flowers, chocolate and tea tray) we immediately felt right at home. The view was spectacular. It was like a Chamber of Commerce picture postcard.
The location is perfect. We hopped on the # 39 bus and spent time down at Fisherman’s Wharf. That evening, we walked down to the Club Fugazi to see Beach Blanket Babylon. What a fantastic show. We stopped at Calzones and brought dinner home, lit a fire, had a bottle of wine and watched a DVD. It doesn’t get much better than that.
Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful apartment with us. We will definitely return.

Can't say enough good things about this apartment. The owners are businesslike but forthcoming and helpful. The location is superb and the neighborhood exceedingly quiet.
The #39 bus stops at the door and provides a link to the city's well-developed public transit system. On the other hand, many great spots are close enough for walking and the secure private parking just about wraps up any travel needs.
Plus, just catty-corner to the building, there will soon be a new Starbucks!
Super views, sunny, clean and neat as a pin. What more could you hope for? |

| I have just returned from spending a month in apartment #3. I cannot say enough positive things about the place. The apartment is immaculate, well furnished and extremely comfortable. The kitchen is equipped beyond anything I could have imagined. Of course, the view is spectacular. All in all, this is a place to stay if you want a wonderful San Francisco experience. Ave's thoughtful and helpful manner just adds icing to the cake. You need to know that the hill is very steep. It gives plenty of exercise, but every step is worth it. |

My first consideration when staying in San
Francisco is here. This was a repeat stay for me at
Doris and Ave's rental unit and it was just as
pleasurable and comfortable as my previous stay.
Everything one needs as far as amenities and
location are perfect. Additional pluses are the
views, high speed internet line, and well stocked
kitchen for preparing meals. Fans of movies filmed
in San Francisco will enjoy the select DVDs
provided. There is also an additional unit available
that has been renovated and just as comfortable
with the added feature of an outdoor balcony. Look

My husband and I spent 9 days in this great San
Francisco apartment. We had a wonderful time and
would highly recommend this rental. Doris & Ave
have decorated and supplied this place with care
and great taste. Anything you need for day to day
living was supplied. The fresh flowers, chocolate,
coffee and biscotti were a nice welcome touch.
From the couch reading the morning paper you can
see the bay bridge and Coit tower, quite
spectacular. Was a big plus to have a parking
garage spot included as anyone who stays in San
Francisco knows. This is the 3rd year in a row
we've done a SF vacation and hope to return to this
rental. |

This was the perfect vacation rental. Ave and Doris couldn't have been more thoughtful. They took such pride in the appearance and presentation of
this spectacular apartment. The location offers amazing views and is within walking distance of great restaurants and shops. Ave and Doris have put together a wonderful "guide book" for the neighborhood that makes you feel like a local. Every detail was thought through, the kitchen was better equipped than our own!
The fresh flowers and biscotti are a great touch. The building is quiet and the parking space is invaluable. We can't say enough and highly recommend this apartment to anyone who is traveling to SF.

The places I choose to stay when away on a trip are
so much more than a place to stay, they are a part
of the vacation. Your condo was fabulous and the
location could not have been more ideal. The views
of the bay were lovely and we so enjoyed just
hanging out at "home" after turning San Francisco
upside down and relaxing with a nice glass of wine.

Myself and partner recently spent a very enjoyable seven nights here. The apartment itself is fantastic - immacuately clean, well presented and attractive.
The sofa in the lounge is very, very comfortable and the open fire is gorgeous.
The kitchen contains everything (and more!) that you could possibly need and all appliances were spotlessly clean and in excellent order.
Coit Tower is literally up the road and you can get a good view of the Bay Bridge from the apartment.
We often heard the wild parrots and managed to see a few flying past.
Doris and Ave were extremely helpful and polite both before and during our stay.
The apartment offers fare better value for money than a regular SF hotel, and a lot more space. Not only this but, being away from the 'touristy' areas offers a greater degree of peace and quiet.
We are now converts of renting apartments rather than hotels and I fully recommend this one. |

More than pictures and words can show! My
husband and I stayed, with two other friends, in
this beautiful apartment for a week. It was our
home away from home during a busy, event-filled
stay in San Francisco. The views are incomparable,
the Telegraph Hill neighborhood quiet and
charming. The apartment is well stocked and
immaculately clean; having a garage in this
neighborhood is a real plus . Doris and Ave are
friendly, helpful and more than accomodating.
Upon our arrival, they showed us around, helped us
settle in and upon hearing our wish for toasting
with martinis later that night, delivered four martini
glasses while we were out exploring the
neighborhood. |

We liked the apartment so much that we elected to stay home most of the time.
In our visits to San Francisco these past 30 years, this was the nicest place we have stayed.

Words - or pictures cannot express how wonderful this apartment is. We could easily live there. A different view from every window. Kitchen perfectly equipped for gourmet meals. Car not necessary. Walk or bus to any site you would want to see. The wild parrots viewed from the windows are very entertaining. We will never stay in a hotel in San Francisco again.

Perched atop Telegraph Hill, this apartment is a jewel, with glorious, vistas in all directions. Added to that, it is beautifully furnished and equipped, with a handy garage for the SF hill-challenged. Local walking rewards with unique house and garden views. Nearby Washington Square and vicinity present genuine neighborhood life in the midst of the big city. The apartment's owners are most pleasantly accommodating.

We spent just over a week in this amazing flat. We'd been to San Francisco earlier in the year, staying in the usual Downtown hotels. This trip we thought we'd try an apartment to get a taste of real city living. Telegraph Hill is one of the best neighbourhoods, the buildings and views are all wonderful and this apartment was just the best. Its so well furnished that we really felt at home there, which was exactly what we wanted from our holiday.
I've been busy recommending this flat to everybody I know. Thanks to Doris and Ave who are great, and couldn't have been more helpful to us. We'll definitely be back in the future. |

| The pictures do not do justice to this wonderful home away from home. Sparkling clean with every convenience, right down to a lint brush in the closet, more kitchen tools then I have in my own home, and big fluffy towels for the bathroom. Incredible views and convenient to everything that the city has to offer. This is truely a wonderful spot to spend a weekend or a week. The owners are great and made everything easy, even including detailed instructions on how to use the bus to get to the convention center. If there is a 5 star rating then this apartment deserves it. |

This is a nice apartment in a wonderful location. It
is furnished with good taste and in a relaxed way
giving you both a neighborhood and an urban
experience. We like to walk and you can amble to
many interesting neighborhoods and sites---SF
MOMA, Asian Art Museum, Upper Fillmore, Ferry
Building, PacBell Park, Union Square, etc. You can
also dine well in North Beach/Chinatown, if you
want to stick close to home. It is so much better
(and cheaper) to have this experience than an

| Having lived in San Francisco for many years, and returning for a vacation with our two daughters, what more could we wish for then Doris'and Ave's apartment on top of Telegraph Hill? Having lived in the Sunset area, and in the fog, this was a big treat for us. The views, the neighbourhood, the restaurants, Chinatown a mere 10 minutes walk away, downtown in plain sight. Every morning we'd enjoy the view of the Bay Bridge from the chaise longue in the bedroom, heaven it was. The apartment is tastefully decorated, easily accomodates 4, has a well stocked kitchen, and being surrounded by the photographs on display by local artist Bill Dietch made us feel just plain lucky. Doris and Ave are wonderful people, warm, kind, helpful and very knowledgeable about the city they love. Having stayed in the apartment from July 29th through August 11th, made our vacation unforgettable. It was difficult to leave for Holland again but we will be back, for sure. |

The apartment itself is clean, bright, has great views and is full of San Francisco books to help with places to go, places to eat (we loved Tomasso's and North Beach Pizza) and Muni schedules etc. This is a great location to get to China town, Pier 39 and Coit tower. We think this is a great spot and would recommend it to anyone interested in having a unique San Fransisco experience. |

Thank you very much for letting us stay in your apartment, we truly enjoyed it and felt at home, your fine touches felt through out the place and little bon-bons, biscotti and coffee made us feel extra special. One more thing that made it absolutely home-like was the Internet, thank you very much for providing it!!! Our kids enjoyed the cable TV after a long day out, it was a great thing to have for them, one evening we even had a meal at home and w/some jazz in the back groud from your CD collection-perfect!
Your advice about the jackets for the evening time was greatly appreciated every evening when the temperature was below 60F, thank you once more.
We will be glad to recommend your place because it was just perfect for our family!

The views are amazing, the neighborhood quite yet close to all the action of North beach.

We could see in every direction, we walked everywhere, we loved the art in the flat, the extra touches (CDs, cream for coffee, fresh flowers, maps, games) great food and shopping right out the door, quiet, beautiful neighbourhood (fantastic gardens) - if I sound like I'm gushing, it's because everything about our stay here was honestly perfect. If it hadn't been so easy to get everywhere else from this location, we may have just stayed in, enjoyed the view, the flat, and fireplace! Thank you, Ave and Doris!!!! |

Yes, there is quite a walk up the final hill to the apartment, so this place is not for those with any physical handicap, but other than that, it's the perfect place and a great deal given the prices of San Fran housing. It came to feel like home during our 5 night stay. In addition, while planning our trip, Ave kept in touch with directions and answered any questions we had right away! We will definitely be back to this apartment and look forward to our next visit! |

| What a weekend! We slept 4 people comfortably in the apartment for 3 nights and have only praise about this beautiful apartment and surrounding neigborhood. For starters, the apartment was something out of a magazine and fully equipped with everything from stationary to toiletries. Because the apartment was like staying in a nice hotel room, we ate lunch in once and had a little wine & cheese party for the 4 of us in the mid afternoon. For food, the market/deli across the street provided us with all the snacks, water, wine and cheese that we needed. For dining out, we walked down the hill to eat at Cafe Divine and Curly's for a lovely breakfast, Cafe Jacqueline for the BEST souffle ever, II Luna Basque for tapas, and Northbeach Pizza for, quite truly, the best pizza I've had yet. All of this without having to drive a car! The walk back up to the apartment may seem arduous at first, but it was really quite nice walking our meal off. I actually looked foward to it! We had one very minor problem when our toilet plugged up, but after one simple call to Ave, he was over and the toilet was fixed in a matter of minutes. Mahalo to Ave and Doris for enabling us to have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend! |

What a wonderful place to relax and enjoy San Francisco. When my sister and I first arrived we stretched out on the sofa and admired the view of the Bay Bridge.
Afterwards, we walked around the neighbourhood and window shopped the funky shops that line Grant St., Columbus and Stockton. We were marvelled at how close we were to Pier 1 and Chinatown.
There is easy access to transit, if desired. And there is a bus that comes to the top of the hill (right to the apartment door) that will take you to Coit Tower and Fisherman's Wharf.
If you like to explore other people's gardens, take the "back streets" of Telegraph Hill and see the glorious flora that grows and blooms from the steps down towards Pier 1.

| My boyfriend and I spent Easter weekend at this apartment and did not want to leave. We enjoyed the apartment and it's amazing views of the Bay Bridge, Coit Tower, and the city. The neighborhood also had a lot to offer us with great restaurants, live music, and a spectacular walk through lush gardens maintained by local residents. The fireplace was a perfect anecdote for a rainy afternoon. We can't wait to go back. |

It is in a perfect location in the heart of North Beach(on a quiet street)with views on all sides. We had a wonderful time and found ourselves walking to almost everything. It was wonderful to have such a nice kitchen where we could make our small meals. You do want to leave time to eat out however as North Beach/Chinatown(also right there) seems to have a place to eat great food every other store front. We were one of the first lucky people to have found this gem of an apartment in THE most beautiful and convenient neighborhoods to stay in San Francisco. We would wake up every morning to views of the Bay Bridge and Coit Tower and walk down to North Beach for that special expresso at Cafe Trieste. What a treat. We walked everywhere from the apartment: Chinatown, Union Square, Fisherman's Wharf, North Beach are all walkable from this great place. The apartment was bright and well done in every aspect. The fireplace was great during those cold January nights when we were visiting. And parking too! You know how hard it is to park in North Beach? We are frequent visitors to SF and this is the best deal in the city, period. Thanks. We will be back and very soon.
