On the Cove is a perfect place to "learn and laze". After learning a bit about the history of granite mining, or fishing or art we dropped into a lawn chair with scones and coffee bought up the hill on Main Street. Then, after a jaunt up onto the granite outcroppings which drop down to Ipswich Bay just yards from "our place" we enjoyed wine and chips while watching lobster boats come and go from the Cove. All this was enhanced by the privacy and amenities Stan and Sandy provide. We look forward to returning. Thanks, Stan and Sandy for this special place.

Hi Sandy & Stan,
We had the very best time at your place "again" this summer. The two weeks we stayed through the fourth of July was a vacation we'll never forget. Since Jim works for the airlines we have travelled to many different places and "On the Cove" will always be one of our favorites. It is very comfortable, cozy, and beautiful. The views are of the most beautiful in Gloucester. The sunsets we get to enjoy every night right from our doorstep are breathtaking. For anyone who is looking to stay "On the Cove" you will not be disappointed. In fact, once you stay you will most certainly return year after year. Everything and more is provided for you from lush bathrobes to everything you need to enjoy a wonderful lobster dinner. Even during a lobster feast I had invited my family to, Sandy came down and served shrimp to all of our guests. I do not witness that kind of hospitality and kindness often - it was a wonderful treat! This was our second vacation here and even though we plan to move back to Gloucester from Pennsylvania we still plan to reserve our place "On the Cove." Thank you for everything Stan & Sandy! Dear Stan and Sandy,
We came to your area to explore the Fishermen History after watching and reading Perfect Storm. Instead we found this Perfect Place- On The Cove!
It happened to rain and actually storm the two days that we were there. It was so lovely on the Cove and the sunset was to die for! And you are so right two days is not enough.
The apartment was amazing. The bed was too comfortable. And the bathroom was more than adequate with the nice huge shower. The view from all major rooms was breath-taking. The location so close to Rockport and Gloucester was great. The Lobster Pool was close enough for us to drive to and pick up a cooked lobster dinner to eat in our cozy apartment during the rain.
My husband jogged past the Grind in nearby Lainesville and returned home to read the three newspapers that you left on the doorstep. Later we had to walk to the Grind to have a relaxing rest sipping the delicious coffee and reading your papers.
Thank you! Thank you! We have been several places but yours is Special. And it is because with all the little extras you and Sandy have made it so. |

Our fist visit to Cape Ann but not our last
We really appreciated the snacks, coffee, wine, soaps in the bathroom, and
luxurious robes.
The kitchen was well equipped. And the washer & dryer came in handy
since I spilled coffee on my jeans while traveling.
What a wonderful place to refresh yourself! The views were great from every
room.
The apartment was clean and tastefully decorated. We will be back well
before your 35th anniversary

Please accept our compliments for the tasteful conveniences provided in this
charmingly appointed apartment. Its situation overlooking Lanes Cove gives it a
piquant flavor. The Cove remind us of a wee fishing port on the cost of Cornwall
most precious to us , called Polpero. So taken were we with Lanes Cove that we
shall always think of it as "Polpero West."

Words can't describe the incredibly awesome vacation we had. And like I told
you the Internet pictures don't do this place justice! It is so beautiful, so
relaxing, so private and you both were so accommodating. We had everything
we needed & more. The robes were a luxury, the bedding was as comfy as
could be. My friends and family who came to visit us here thank you also for
giving them a chance to enjoy such beauty! If you find them sitting in the
yard to enjoy the sunsets - it's okay to tell them to go!
I'm so glad - we all are - that we have reserved our stay already for next year.
It makes leaving a little easier knowing we will return. We are so looking
forward to it!

We arrived in the dark and not really sure where we were and a very warm
welcome to our luxurious, well fit out and maintained 'retreat'. Upon waking
the next morning and looking out on the stunning vista, we fell in love with
the place. The unseasonalby warm weather (60's) were fantastic. Our walks
around the town were inspiring with all the cove houses (very different
architecture to Australia!) and the day trips to Rockport, Salem, Boston etc.
were brilliant. We are so cozy here it will be hard to leave... Newpapers in the
morning, our own BBQ, the luxurious bathroom etc, etc, Our only
disappointment was just finding the dishwasher on the last day. Lovely area,
fantastic apartment and great hosts.

P.S. Would love to come back, but...it is a long way to travel for a weekend!

We arrived only this morning and already I don't want to leave. The area is
beautiful, the water soothing and mysterious and the apartment is wonderful.
We've rented aparments on the Cape, in Maine and Montreal and none have
ever compared with yours. I was going to say it feels like home, but it's better
than home. The complementary items you provide are worth so much more
than thier "value".
We walked the neighborhoods of Gloucester in the rain, participated in some
of the regional weekend events and took all the paths at Halibut Point State
Park. We loved learning about the granite quarries and the cobblestone that
were shipped all over the Eastern seaboard. Thank you for a wonderful place
and the care and attention you provide.

Thanks for the newspapers! Even with three kids I am still a news fanatic--have been enjoying them very much!
We are having an amazing time! I cannot tell you how much the kids and I love waking up here every morning. We had college friends and their kids for dinner last night-about eight extra--sunset was amazing and it is fabulous to entertain here--they are all local and blown away by this place! Everything is so perfect!
I love the CD collection--we started our day and ended listening to music with that beautiful view.
This was such a memorable family vacation. I can't even begin to explain how I imaged doing this with the kids and this was truly better than I could have hoped for.

The "Cape"--"Schmape"..,.the "Shore"--"Schmore"... We live an hour away but
it is like a different world...so peaceful with natual beauty. This is one of the
few place on the East Coast to see the sunset...it is beautiful--hate the
thought of leaving such a blissful envirnoment. In between working at the
Beach Club, my sons enjoyed kayaking, swimming, fishing, movies and
eating! Didn't venture to anything too upscale which was fine with us. Loved
breakfast the the Cove Cafe, good chowder at Ellen's and fab Mexican food at
Jalepeno's! Love the little old-fashioned Little Art Cinema in Rockport (saw
The Inconvenient Truth).
My husband loved being near the water, having spent half his life living by the
sea in Greece.
This is the best sleep I've had in a long time!
Thank you so much for all the little extras that mean so much...the three
newpapers daily, the wine, flowers, toiletries and waters. And the homey apartment (with high ceilings!) is darling.

Fabulous home and bathroom...I tend to be very critical and picky about accommodations...there isn't ONE thing I can criticize! We love the beauty of your home and how/where it is situtated on a hill. It is so comfortable and beautiful yet unpretentious. We felt so welcomed with all the creature comforts. Affordable, as well.

When Massimo and I thought about getting married in Gloucester we thought hard about where and how we'd do it all. And one of the last things on our list was a place to stay. While surfing the net in Italy, I found this cute little apartment on a cove in Gloucester that I'd never heard of before.
We took this place just so we "had something" to come back to after our wedding. But when we arrived, one day before our wedding, we were
astonished at just how beautiful this place is. We had no idea we'd be in such a dream house, with such a magical view.
This house and the surrounding areas gave us the peace, balance and a place to rest after what we considered the biggest day in our lives.
Entertaining here was breeze! This house was chock full of Londoners, Italians and Bostonians on the 4th (of July), and I can honestly say we were able to offer them a truly unforgettable experience!
Thank you! And we hope to meet up on our turf, in Brindisi some day.

We cannot say enough! Our family rented a place (through Atlantic Vacation homes) and it was a real and total dive. Windows were boarded up, closets nailed shut, even balcony doors were closed up. They had random plates and dishes I wouldn't have used in college! And then to come here with you and your family was honestly far more than any of our expectations. You blew us away with your welcome pack of wine, cookies and San Pelligrino.
We can see just how invested your are in making people happy here. It's so obvious how important quality of service is to you all.

For two people who don't know how to relax, this was the place to start. Mid-
day was full of activity while mornings and evenings were nothing but
relaxation. After hiking or kayaking, we spent a lot of time relaxing with a good
book. Who said you can't have a good time when rain is predicted every day?! We
had wonderful time-the weather predictions were wrong.
Love the view, love the quiet, love the kayaking, love the local history, love the

We were the envy of the McKown & Holys Family clans here for our family
reunion! Our accommodations exceeded our expectations and were perfectly
located near the central hub of our reunion hosts.
The early mornings in the cove started the day on a positive note with many
bird songs, gentle waves and frequent visits by the white egret in the grassy
area.
Many activities filled our week including sea kayaking with Discovery
Adventures, whale watching with Capt. Bill & Son's and riding the train into
Boston. Plum Cove, Good Harbor Beach and hanging around the Cove also
allowed for some relaxation time. Halibut Point State Park has some wonderful trails for walking or jogging and we did both. We will definitely come back and stay "On
the Cove".

Dear Stan & Sandy,
What a wonderful stay we had at "On the Cove". This was the perfect balance
of solitude and action that we needed. The apartment is so comfortable! The
sunsets and the fantastic shower made it one of the best places we have ever
stayed at.
We enjoyed many of the local sights. We especially enjoyed our bike ride
around the Cape. The houses and views are just breathtaking. The ride
through Halibut Point State Park was also enjoyable. Thanks for that tip, Stan!
We love the water, so we took advantage of many of the boat tours - Captain
Bill's Whale Watch, (we saw 3 Humpbacks), the Harbor Tour - Lighthouse tour
around the Cape and the Thomas Lannon Schooner Cruise which was so
peaceful.
All this sightseeing kept us pretty hungry and we experienced some great
places to eat! Thanks again Stan for steering us to the Lobster Pool, only
about one mile away, for fantastic lobster and views. We also had a wonderful
meal at the Seaward Inn in Rockport. Just remember to bring your own wine!
Another favorite ws the Franklin Inn downtown Gloucester. Great food and
jazz! We had a great breakfast at the Greenery in Rockport and two fun
lunches at Captain Carlo's and the Mad Fish Grill in Rocky Neck.
We couldn't have asked for better weather or a better vacation. We will
definitely be back!
Thanks again for a wonder releaxing place to stay in Cape Ann.
Other Comments:
We have stayed at a good number of time-share condo type places. Lake Tahoe, Vail, Tremblant, Savanna GA, etc. and this is a 5-star.
Cape Ann Golf Course was a neat surprise--rustic, scenic and we scored well!!
Bike ride around the Cape was great.
"Kim would like a full length mirror to look at all those Lobster POUNDS".

Everything was great. The location and the views are terrific. The rooms are
bright, cheery and clean. The extra touches--the wine, DVD's, books,
newspapers, travel information--were appreciated by all ages. All in all, Lanes Cove far exceeded our expectations If we come back to Cape Ann, we would definitely stay here again. Convenient to so many wonderful sites and attractions.
Things we did (Larry, Elizabeth & two 12 year old girls): took pictures, visited Rockport, biked to Halibut Point State Park, swam at beaches and quarries, kayaking & snorkeling, shopping, day trip to Boston and took the Fenway Park tour, day trip to Crane's Beach and Salem (whew!), watched DVD's, read books.

| We spent seven glorious days at the Cove and hope to again each year. We thank you for your thoughtfulness- the wine, bottled water, lobster pot, fresh coffee, spices in the kitchen, novels about Gloucester all contributed to this feeling that we were cared for in a environment- frankly, that we didn't want to leave. I have no reservation about recommending this apartment and location and in fact I have given cards to my family as we all visit our Lanesville relatives each summer but often need our own space. This is the place. |
