We came for Labor Day weekend, looking to have fun and be near the lake.
The weather was amazing - sunny with a few clouds and a light mist in the mornings.
We recommend the Caddo trail. It's a beautiful hike (4 miles).

We had our annual Lake Ouachita gathering of college friends and their partners - 10 people all together - and we were coming and going throughout the week.
The weather was perfect for the lake...days hot and sunny (mid-90s) and the nights cooled down into the 70s.
We enjoyed all of the space - especially the living room where we could all relax and visit.
The garden was blooming...lots of colors...very pretty. Also butterflies and a great zipper spider in the zinnias.
Places we recommend: Go eat at the Shangri-La Restaurant off the Hwy. Great lunch specials and homemade pie and onion rings!
THANKS for a great space for our group!!!

Lauryn (8 yrs old): We went to the creek, went boating and swimming in Lake Ouachita. My favorite time was playing on the front porch swing and in the creek.
Her mom: Thank you Sharon for a wonderful visit! Our family truly enjoyed the time we were able to spend together relaxing in the beautiful creek and exploring Lake Ouachita. This was a perfect place to rest! The creek was definitely our favorite place!

We mostly just relaxed and enjoyed being together and we did a little sightseeing around the lake and in Hot Springs and Mena. Our favorite moments were watching our older dog run through all the creeks and swim in the swimming holes. This was a Brothers' Reunion. Our first trip together just the Bros. We rented a party barge at Lake Ouachita and dared each other to jump in...we did and it was freezing! We visited the Wax Museum (not worth it), the Bathing museum (very cool), and the Mountain Lookout tower in Hot Springs. Favorite times were walking in the woods, sitting by the creek, cooking on the grill and spending time with Brothers. We loved the quirky designs in the Retreat and had a great time looking at the historic architecture in downtown Hot Springs. Overall we had a great time and enjoyed the peace and nature at the Retreat.

We had great weather! We went to the lake everyday plus visited the Garvin Gardens in Hot Springs and Turtle Cove spa at the Mountain Harbor Resort. The best parts were spending time together, being on the lake, cooking on the grill every night, hearing the creek flowing (from the front porch), and not working! We rented a party barge from Brady marina on the lake; visited Garvin Woodland Gardens, the Mid-America Science museum, Tiny Town, Hot Springs bathhouse row, and played horseshoes at the house. We swam in the creek and visited the Hickory Mountain Vista. We had a blast at everything, including playing in the hose to keep cool while playing horse shoes! We really enjoyed the peace and quiet of the house, can couldn't have asked for better family time!

We went to the Buckstaff Bathhouse for mineral baths. Very cool! We dug for crystals at Wegner mines...that was fun! and went to Crater of Diamonds...that was hot and we didn't find any diamonds. Crystal digging was a blast! Our favorite meals were at the house with everyone. We loved playing in the stream here! Especially on the very hot days! The property out here is amazingly beautiful! We went swimming at the Crystal Springs Rec area, the Twin Creeks Rec area, and the Three Sisters spring area of Lake Ouachita. We toured Hot Springs National Park and dug crystals at the Wegner crystal mine. We did horseback riding at Mountain Harbor Resort and drove up to Hickory Nut Mountain Vista. It was all fun, and we liked Holly Ridge Retreat. It was great to just jump in the creek there when we were hot! We especially enjoyed nature while we were here. We saw lizards, frogs, turtles, snakes and deer. We enjoyed the starry night skies and the ten-thousand chirping insects. Our son, Cam, really liked catching lizards and toads. There were also butterflies, beetles and other insects and many interesting birds, especially the hummingbirds!

This was a girlfriend's 30th birthday party getaway and we had FUN!!! The weather was perfect. We went swimming at the lake, looked at crystals at a nearby shop, played puzzles, waded in the streams, and sat on the porch swing. We went to the Arlington bath house (amazing spa treatments!), the science museum and the wax museum in Hot Springs. Everyone got lost at least once and we stayed up late every night, talking. This is our second stay here, and we always appreciate the open environment in the home where we can all spend time together. We hosted local relatives for Thanksgiving dinner: we had 16 total. This home is the perfect place to get away from it all. The stream that surrounds the property is very majestic.One of our Therapy Pets (Bebe) had to take a dip every morning before starting her day.Our other Therapy Pet (Drake) was in love w/all of the hiking trails. We enjoyed having our coffee on the porch in the mornings and watching the humming birds gather. Taking a tour in Hot Springs is a must too.

We especially enjoyed the Garvan Gardens, the spa at the Arlington hotel and the Alligator Farm in Hot Springs. At the home, we loved watching the hummingbirds, bees, butterflies, fireflies and beautiful flowers. Also, digging for crystals on Fisher Mountain in the cool, misting rain with the fog hiding the mountains was really incredible. Thanks so much for being part of a very enjoyable vacation!

We explored the creek, sailed on a sailboat (call Soma, 870-490-0637), and relaxed. We enjoyed playing horseshoes and shooting basketball at your home. We especially liked swimming in the creek and playing on the sailboat. We very much so enjoyed the peace and quiet. Watching the hummingbirds and swinging on the porch swing. We loved hiking at Winding Stairs, Big Brushy, Queen Wihelmina and around Ouachita. The kids especially liked Magic Springs, a great amusement park completely free of commercialism, the Maxwell Blade Magic Show in Hot Springs, and cooling off in your stream. We all loved eating tomatoes and okra from the garden, swinging on the front porch swing and the star-gazing.

We went to Hot Springs, Lake Ouachita State Park, shopped, hiked, relaxed and grilled on the front porch, and we saw deer and other little animals while walking on the retreat property. We came to dig crystals at a nearby mine. It was great! So was meeting Soma, Peanut Butter and Jelly (the caretaker and his 2 friendly dogs). The kids loved wading in the creek and we all loved mornings on the front porch, peaceful sleep, and spending Girl time together with our kids.
The beds were all so comfortable, the gardens were beautiful. We felt right at home and didn't want to leave. Thanks So much!

Our favorite moments were wading in the streams, browsing nearby rock and mineral shops, hiking up a steep hill (we don't have hills like that in Louisiana!), meeting our host, seeing all the rabbits and squirrels, and finding the Shangri La restaurant and marina nearby (excellent food, service and boat rentals).
