Dear Judi, Thank-you for everything!Best Vacation we've ever had! Beautifully cared for home...so comfortable, fantastic location! Best kept secret in Florence! Morning and evening walks on the beach, reading on the couch and looking out at the ocean, cooking meals together in the kitchen (that has everything you could possibly need)! The downstairs bedroom was a perfect "man-cave" for my video-game playing teenage sons! We loved the flower garden and watching all the birds! Exploring the tidepools was a blast! We can't wait to come back!

We loved our time at the Hut. It was the perfect place to curl up with a book and hide from the rain, beach-comb in the sun and enjoy the sunset with a coctail. Sophia, who just celebrated her 1st birthday, had a blast! Thanks for providing a perfect place to get away!

Dear Judi,

We came here with my sistger and her husband from Germany and had such a good time. Unfortunately, it was raining a lot, but it was great to warm up in your nicely decorated hut. We spent lots of time chatting, playing cards and just watching the ocean. What a beautiful biew! We should come back in summer to spend some evenings on that great porch.

Thank you so much for all your help and friendliness.

Best wishes,

Dear Judi,

Albin and I have been here with our son, granddaughter and her boyfriend and have enjoyed your cabin very much! Except for one day, we have had beautiful, but cold, weather, which made for especially stunning views. Albin and I attended every event of the Florence Winter Folk Festival and we would highly recommend it! The rest of the family went on the beach, sightseeing, and just hung out and relaxed from their normally busy schedules. A great time was had by all!

A wonderful long weekend at the Hut for the Sterbas...such a fabulous place to reflect on all our blessings this Thanksgiving! Time spent at the beach, quad riding on the dunes, Devil's Churn (even shopping in Old town)! Most of all, the quaint comfort of your rental, a place to enjoy each other.

Thanks much!

Dear Judi -

We can't say enough how terrific your house has been as a venue for our family reunion and wedding celebrations in Eugene! The views and comfort were perfect for relaxing after travels from London, Montana and California. We really give you special thanks for organising the stunnin weather - the sunshine really transported us to another world and season. The beach was superb for walks. Only sorry not to have more time for birdwatching, as it looks like a great spot for it.

The kitchen was great - we loved the spice grainders, especially red pepper, which we hadn't seen - but great to have those few essentials on hand. We would love to visit again sometime.

Thank you!

We had an absolutely wonderful week at the Coast and really enjoyed your great beach home.

Rick and Elle surprised us by leaving a batch of scones in the freezer, which we enjoyed for Sunday breakfast.

The weather was a bit cool, a little rainy at times, but we began and ended our stay with spectacular days. Visited the Willamette Valley wine country, the dunes, the lighthouses and the falls around Mapleton. Definitely sampled the best of the area.

Sue loves to cook and agreed with Elle that your kitchen was as well-equipped as any vacation home we've ever seen - - what a great bonus.

Hopefully our first trip to the Oregon Coaswt won't be our last. Thanks for making it memorable.

During a 3-week road trip around Oregon, 5 nights of our trip were spent in your cabin. What a wonderful place to stay. Celebrated our 34th anniversary while here as well as just hanging out, climbing the dunes to the beach and enjoying some of the local restaurants.
Definitely have your cabin on our list of repeat stays as well as recommendations to friends.

Judi - this is what we left in the guest book yesterday - along with the biscotti recipes. We thought you might want to have your own machinable
copy. R&E

Dear Judi,

We decided to take this trip to the Oregon coast to celebrate our recent marriage.

Rick was born and raised in NYC and eventually moved to Seattle where he raised two daughters. Elle was born in California and moved around the central California coast for many, many years to pursue her successful
career in retailing. The fact that we even met was amazing so we wanted to do something out of the ordinary, at least for us, but also something that would allow us the time to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and each other.

We found that in your “Hut”.

We really did appreciate the little things that you do for your guests including, but certainly not limited to, the notebooks of things to do, places to go, local eateries, and even a well-stocked seasoning and herb basket. And who could have imagined finding a full set of Henckel knives in a rental house?

We love to entertain and cook for family and friends so we were pleased to find a couple of kitchen and accessory boutiques in Old Town that carry unusual kitchen items and where we were able to pick up a few special items
that we plan to use when we get back to Seattle.

We really do intend to come again. In the meantime, we thought we would leave you one of our favorite recipes for chocolate biscotti. We’re mostly retired now but Elle is thinking about either opening a yoga practice or a
small bakery so you can bet that when made correctly her biscotti is scrumptious. We’d like to think that others will use the recipe and enjoy it long after we return to Seattle.

Thanx so much for a comfortable place to stay. Slept so well in that comfortable bed with the ocean in the background. Celebrated our 34th anniversary here. Ate at Driftwood Shores twice. Excellent food and wine prices very reasonable. Also ate at Int'l C-Food Market. Very good as well.

Toured Heceta Head Lighthouse. Fantastic view. Can't help but believe that the lighthouse keepers enoyed their time spent there as well. Enjoyed walking the beach each day and the hike up the dunes beats a StairMaster any day!

I had a great time here at the "Hut?" We loved going to all of the tide pools. We saw a bunch of star fish, a crab a lot of sea anemones and lots more. And, waking up to the ocean is wonderful! We also saw a huge osprey with a live fish in its beak! We will be back! Thanks!

The rest of the Smith family wholeheartedly agrees with Willow! Today is my birthday and I can't think of anywhere else I'd rather be. The house is just about the most comfortable home we've rented (and not a bit cramped. It's a little house with a big heart!)

Well, well, well, what can be said that others haven't said already? We'll give it a try.

Judi, we do a bit of traveling since we met and we'd like to let you know that "The Hut" is right at the top of the list. You have put some of the most expensive and pricey Bed and Breakfasts to shame. We really felt like we were home and not just visiting. Kudos!

It is our first time in Oregon and one thing is for sure - - it ain't New York! To Diana's delight, I even forgot about the Mets for a few days. Although it was overcast for the visit, it actually turned out to be a blessing. Instead of lounging on the beach most of the day, we actually took in a ton of coastal adventures instead: Cape Perpetua, Devil's Churn, south to Coos Bay, ATV in the sand dunes, whale spouts at Seal Rock (maybe Di's favoriate), sea lions, Old Town browsing, Newport for dinner one night, and that's just a few things.

All of that stuff was great, but by far the best time was spent right here at your back door. That's the real adventure of our trip to the Oregon Coast. Coffee in the morning, a glass of wine in the evening, a book midday, sharing the time and peace and quiet with the woman I love at your little Hut on the shore. We'll be back.

What a perfect way to end our vacation. Fourteen days on the road and ending at the beach Hut. Calaveras Big Trees State Park, Monterey and up the Californian and Oregon coasts to the Hut. Giant sequoias, redwoods, cave spelunking, tide pool investigating. We had perfect weather here. Walked to the jetty and explored the sea life on the rocks. Sea Lion Caves. Rented a sand board down at Sand Master and surfed the dunes. Went to Honeyman State Park and splashed in Cleavox Lake. Great for kids. Paddle boats, 25 cent popcorn, newts were very willing to be picked up. Simply gorgeous. Make sure you hit the Krab Kettle on the southeast of town (101). The halibut, Dungeness and prawns are the best you'll eat (and I'm picky about seafood). The beach is the best. The waves rock and the ocean will sing you to sleep at night.

Today we went golfing at the dunes. It got kind hard because you coldn't see the green. Later me and Bo went boogie boarding, but we ditched the board and swam around. Then we had a fresh seafood dinner on the patio and ended with watching the sunset and finishing a puzzle.

Saw a seal outside Mo's, went shopping at the Bead and Bass Store - - nice people. Good lunch at 9th St. BBQ. Kids ran around the dunes as much as possible. Talked about wine at the Ocean Dunes golf bar.

Two days of sun - - last day it rained.

PERFECT WEEKEND!

We just got back from a week at "the hut". It worked well for us as a family (2 adults, 4 kids)...nice and close to the beach, and not a lot of people around! We went to the sand dunes, traveled to the Safari outside Winston, saw Cape Perpetua and a few other beaches in the area.

The hut is well equipped with full kitchen needs, washer, dryer, etc. My daughter called it cozy!!

What a treasure. My family and I (wife, two daughters, 9 and 5) visited for three nights in July. Sandboarding the dunes behind Fred Meyer, visiting lake Ceawox down at Honeyman State Park, building sand castles on the beach, and checking out the sea life at low tide on the jetty to the south. The Hut is a true place of peace. Thanks Judi!! We'll be back! P.S. Don't forget to hit the Krab Kettle at the south east of town. Seafood that still wiggles. Halibut, crab,... Bring it back to the Hut and have a feast!

Judi - -

What a perfect getaway! Fresh flowers, cloth napkins in napkin rings and a candle that commands respect set the tone. Complement that with great neighbors (5 days and none in sight), great views and wonderful kitty karma (our Katchina knew instantly she was in a cat-friendly home) and the Hut is definitely a winner.

The wind has died down enough for us to do yoga on the deck - - the dune grass and ocean look beautiful upside-down, from backbend and headstand. This morning we saw 5, maybe 6 whales (in groups of 2-3) heading north - - not sure if they were humpbacks or grays.

It's strange to walk for miles on a beach contiguous with an oceanic "dead zone" - - no new shells, no fish, no crabs, few birds. The beach is impeccably clean. But there's still some intertidal life on the North Jetty - - small sea stars and anemones, some healthier than others. Is this just a natural variation, or something bigger? Time will tell.

In the meantime, we're loving our stay here.

What a perfect retreat! The Internet site did not do this place justice. It is so cozy and comfortable. We really relaxed. Thanks for the tip for July 4th. We went to the "La De Da Parade" in Yachats and enjoyed small town fun with the resident grey whale spouting in the distance during the parade and the entire afternoon. The locals say he was showing off for the crowd. The fireworks were also really wonderful. The Sea Lion Caves were also really fun (noisy and smelly, too!).

Dear Judi,

Thank you so much for sharing The Hut with us. It's nice to watch the time go by watching the fog through the sea grass. Cape Perpetua was wonderful, so much so, that I decided to ask Sarah to marry me, there near the Spouting Horn! All in all, a good trip. Be sure to check out Strawberry Hill! All the sea lions were out of the cave, so we drove on to Cape Perpetua, stopping at Strawberry Hill only to find some of the best tide pools in the world and....sea lions everywhere! (Mom: Now all I have to do is to convince Sarah to move out here! It shouldn't be too difficult!)

Wow! What a great place to escape . . . Let's see, we've had quiet morning strolls on the beach, dizzying dune buggying, movies in the rain, lighthouse exploration and many lazy mornings. Our family of 5 found the "hut" absolutely charming - cozy, complete with a wonderful location. "A frames" make a very interesting habitation - I find it relaxing just to look at one.

I hope you find it as relaxing as we have - sit back, have a cup of coffee and let your mind wander. You'll be surprised what you find!

Hi Judi!

Thank you! We had a marvelous, relaxing time, mostly spent on the deck in the sun. The view is more magnificent than I remember and the Hut is darling, thanks to your good taste.

See you soon!

Judi, this place is absolutely wonderful! The views are breath-taking, the "hut" is cute and the weather is better than I ever could have asked for. I hope I will have the chance to come back and stay for longer. One night just isn't enough to take in everything that this place is!

Thanx,

Nikki and Curt

Dear Judy,

What a terrific place! Can't remember when we packed more fun into 4 too-short days - beach combing, baseball on the sand, a hike along the dunes, trips down to the jetty and back along the marsh - - spectacular sunsets and weather - - watching, quiet reads and trips to town for meals at the Bridgewater, ice cream at BJ's and birthday present shopping - - whew! We'll be back - - love, Bud, Lisa and John

Nice little Hut you have here, Judi! Thank you for the last minute arrangements. Ran the Cape Mountain 10 Mile Trail Run! Trail head starts at Horse Creek, a right turn 1/2 mile south of Sea Lion Caves, end three miles in your car on a single lane road. These trails are horse trails which are rarely used. Stunning views of coast line and mountains from numerous view points. We will be back with the mountain bikges very soon!

Kids loved playing on the beach with the dog. Next day went on the Sutton Lake/Alder Trail route in the pouring rain! Well - - once you're wet, what does it matter? Had a nice place to return to for warmth, coffee, comfort, coziness and just good times!

Thank you, Judi, for letting us use your great get-away for some awesome memories.
