Stayed 9/12-15th. What a great way to "see" Boston. Easy to get to once you figure out how (free MGH/Partners bus in front of the 24 hour convenience store) that goes to North Station. My daughter found this gem and I have to admit I was hesitant. But, would go back in a minute. Did not have two bedrooms but one bedroom and a pull-out in the living area. But that was OK. Have to get use to small bathroom facilities.

Very nice experience. We stayed 8/22-29/2008 and enjoyed ourselves. It was much better than a hotel room (same in every city) and once we learned to use public transportation we could get anywhere we wanted to. Keeping in mind that it is a old houseboat, they have done everything to make the stay comfortable and fun. Would do it again

Our group was the first to stay on the KonTiki. What a wonderful way to visit Boston. There were 5 children in our group and they loved the houseboat. They used all the decks and felt like they were living on a playground. It is in a perfect location. We never drove the car once we parked it in the free marina lot. We took the T, the ferry, or walked to see everything there is to see in Boston. Andy was terrific about making sure we enjoyed our stay. We could not have found a better place to stay in Boston.

What a contrast to a hotel in a big city, and a
relaxing getaway offering easy access to the sights
of Boston! The boat is clean, quaint and cozy, and
was recently moved to a dock providing less motion
and better views. It's equipped with all the comforts
of home--dishes, utensils, linens, etc.-- including
a much appreciated coffee maker, filters and coffee
in the freezer! We stayed mid-May and would have
loved kinder weather as it was rainy and windy at
times-- but it will be fabulous for guests this
summer and fall. Do not worry about motion; it is
gentle and peaceful, and as other guests have
commented, the soft rocking lulls one easily to
sleep.
Hop a water taxi for $1.75 to the Aquarium, Legal
Seafood restaurant, Faneuil Hall, Quincy Market and
other sights along Freedom Trail. Be sure to check
out the State House and take the free tour. Walk to
the REAL Cheers bar. Also spend time on Old
Ironsides, its museum and the 2nd WW battleship
nearby, all free and in easy walking distance. For
dinner head to the north end, laden with Italian
fare--our favorite was "Cibo" soon to be renamed
"Ponza"--everything made fresh and to order, and
reasonable. There's lots more to do but we just had
a few days this time and those were the highlights.

Andy was a thoughtful and caring host (with a great
sense of humor!), always available when we had any
questions. The crescendo was his connection with a
water taxi service that picked us up at our dock
($30/couple plus tip) and whisked us to a hotel
where we picked up a free 5-min. bus to the
airport.
All in all, very enjoyable and highly recommended!

This must be what an infant feels like. Every now and then someone comes along and rocks your cradle ever so gently just to make you feel safe. Usually, on vacation, you can't wait to get out and get going. On the Float!, you just want to take your coffee outside and enjoy what God gave you...the sun, the sky and the water. Thank God we know Boston well, because we wanted to stay on board as long as we could in the morning doing just that. A minor mishap occurred because of a previous renter, but it did absolutely nothing to hurt our stay. It is spacious enough, clean, comfortable and delightful. I don't sail, so don't let that stop you from experiencing the houseboat. It's so gentle, you hardly notice the sway, and at night, when you're in bed, it's downright comforting. We had a wonderful 44th Anniversary on board and hope to celebrate our 45th there as well.

Oh my words can't even describe the fun time we had renting the House Boat Float. When you walked on land you could still feel rocking motion. Me and the kids never slept so good. The rocking at night is awesome. We could walk every where and I'm from the area so I know all the good places to eat and buy gifts to bring home. We loved the boat so much we couldn't wait to get back to the boat and just hang out on the top deck the lower front door deck in the morning was perfect for Dunkins coffee right around the corner and wine and drinks at night and watch the gorgeous sunset, watch the planes come and go and the night lights just seem to appear. My two teens cooked on the grill on the back deck. We had the best time and the best laughs.

I'm planning to rent again July 09

Excellent way to vaca, August is always good weather to go to Boston

Oh by the way the AC works awesome in the boat if you have hot days. We opened the windows on days we didn't care about the heat.

It's a wonderful way to Holiday

My dog and I spent a week on Float's fun and funky sister ship, the White Elephant, and I wish we could've stayed a month. Andy and Peggy were attentive to our every need but still gave us plenty of space to do our own thing. Boston's a terrific town to explore with your pet, and when our feet started hurting, they even let my 80-pound mutt on the subway. (He acted like a pretty worldly traveler till it came time to ride the escalator.) I'm already dreaming about a return trip.

My family stayed aboard the "White Elephant" during our trip to Boston and had a delightful time! We were close to the sights and sounds of the city yet a world away floating peacefully on the water. A great experience that we will take advantage of again in the future!

The boat was great. You could not ask for a better location. The T is steps away. Great seafood restaurants close by. We highly recommend staying here.

Just got round to adding our comments. We stayed 21 June for 3 nights and it was not enough. The boat is great, everything you need, and Peggy and Andy are really helpful. Location is excellent, fun and easy getting the water taxi. We have stayed in boston before, but staying on the boat is by far the best option and the new boat looks fab as well. Will definitly return
Thanks again

What fun! The boat was clean and well stocked with all sorts of little extras (tea, coffee...). Peggy and Andy were very accommodating. A lovely way to spend our tenth anniversary

We had a great time and the location was wonderful. Walking distance to the North End, (Italian Food to die for), Fanieul Hall (fun night clubs with live music), Boston Aquarium and the "T", which we took to Finway. This is not your place if you get sea sick but we really enjoyed the alternative to hotel life. We enjoy the outdoors and the top of the boat at sunset with a glass of wine was amazing. Nice people all around on this wharf. We felt safe and secure, Andy just a phone call away. Thanks Andy and Peggy!

That's the coolest place to stay in Boston ... hands down! The sunset was magnificent, and you can get anywhere you need to get to in minutes (also next to the train). A nice short walk to everything worth seeing. PLUS you're right on the water. I had a bunch (6) of friends come down and meet me on FLOAT ... they all loved it. Great place to have a few friend over for cocktails. Plus the owners are friendly and helpful ... they know their way around. Best sleep I've had in ages
Did I mention it minutes to the airport?

I am so glad that I used vbro to find housing in Boston. This was so much better than any hotel. We really appreciated the graciousness of our hosts, Andy and Peggy. They made the entire trip a huge success. Thanks. Michal

My brother and his wife came from Holland and said they wanted to visit Boston. Hotels seemed so hum-drum and the house boat fit the bill! It was a unique experience and a great success!!! Wonderful to have a pied-a-terre in the heart of Boston!!!

We arrived early to Boston for a convention and stayed on the house boat prior to moving to The Westin Copley Place. Our stay on the house boat was as nice, if not better.
The value cannot be compared, as the stay on the water was wonderful & The Westin was a dissapointment.
We would stay again if coming to the Boston area.

This is the greatest contrast imaginable to impersonal hotels. The boat is full of character and beautifully appointed as well as excellent value. We came to Boston to get married and staying on the boat made a very special occasion all the more memorable.
And when it's described as very convenient for all amenities, that is an understatement.
A matter of minutes to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall and to the nearest T.
Also only a matter of minutes to Legal Seafoods (yum). We really felt we were in the heart of the city.
Yes, there's a bit of a wash from boats in the harbour but it was no problem and the rocking is genuinely soothing and peaceful at night.
Our hosts were also a major plus. Peggy and Andy welcomed us wonderfully and with great hospitality. And when we ran into the one difficulty of our trip, Andy was with us quickly to sort it out.
A marvellous experience and one I would hope to repeat before too long.

Wow! What a great stay we had on the houseboat in Boston. We had our children, ages 8 & 11, and they couldn't have had a better time! The novelty of staying on the water was perfect for our "desert rats" family. My husband and I enjoyed the convenience to downtown, steps away, the security of the dock, and most importantly the glass of wine on the top deck each evening as we relaxed and reviewed the day. The owners are wonderful people, very accommodating. This is a MUST do!

What a great alternative to staying in an expensive hotel. After a day of touring it was great to sit on the top deck with a glass of wine and watch the activity in the harbour. The main purpose of our trip was to attend a Jays/Sox game at Fenway. With the subway a 2 minute walk away it was very easy getting to the park and back. Everything is within walking distance...it's amazing! "Check-out" time was 11:00 am but our flight home was not until 9:30 at night. The bell man at the nearby Marriott hotel was glad to store our luggage so we were able to catch the ferry to Salem for a leisurely lunch. The only bad experience we had on the whole trip was that the Blue Jays lost to the Red Sox. :-(

The picture and description do not do this justice. The view is breathtaking, whether looking out into the harbor, or looking into the city. Evening, night and morning all provide different perspectives. Plus, you are truly located on the groundfloor of where the action in Boston is. No car necessary. We felt we were somehow priviledged. Yeah, the boat rocks during the day, but you'll sleep well. No one in our sensitive family got sick. This is truly an adventure worth remembering and is highly recommended.

Labor Day weekend was our 19th wedding anniversary & I wanted to do something DIFFERENT!!! Staying on this wonderful houseboat was so lovely & VERY different. We had glorious weather & did not need a car & walked all over Boston. What a great city!!! We were surprised to see how much room the houseboat actually has & how close to EVERYTHING that it is. We found a nice little cafe just on the other side of the park & Legal Seafood in the other direction (ann. dinner). We could see the Aquarium from "our" bedroom & Fanueil Hall from the end of the block.
It was a wonderful experience & we are thankful to Andy that we were able to spend our 19th on the water.....We hope to be able to do it again another year!

What a wonderful experience. We were in town working for over a week and the houseboat was a haven! We enjoyed sitting on the top deck in the evenings - next to the Aquarium and the tall condos. Close to everything, easy to get to....Can't say enough!

We had a fabulous time in Boston. Our first time there and how better to see it but floating in Boston Harbor, within walking distance of everything we came to see for the week!!! It was so convenient with lots of space and a very safe location. No concerns about walking to restaurants or "home" from the T. My teenagers will be talking about this wonderful experience for a long time. Additionally, we found that whenever we needed something, the owners would quickly take care of it. Overall we had a great time!

This house boat vacation was an awesome experience. Sleeping on a boat while gently rocked to sleep by the waves was incredibly soothing. Being right on the harbor next to downtown and the North End meant that we never wanted for anything to do. I recommend going to the Haymarket farmers' market on Saturday morning, cooking a pile of vegetables, and eating on the roof of the boat while envious onlookers gawk at you.
