Having lived in Ireland in a previous chapter in my life, I can fairly attest that this is an incredibly idyllic enclave in the lush Irish countryside. We spent a beautiful (and hot!) July week at Dysart with 6 adults, a six year old and a toddler and wish that we could have stayed much longer. The property is magnificent affording long walks through horse pastures to the river Nor below for fly-fishing. LouLou the pig was an especially big hit with our young daughter who still talks about the biggest pot-bellied pig we have ever laid eyes on! One could not find a more gracious and entertaining host than Ramy, the artist-in-residence. From arranging transport to and from the airport to stocking the house with fantastic wines and food, to cooking the most delectable dinner upon our arrival, he made sure we wanted for nothing whilst in his home. We are sorry that we were unable to meet Ms. Butler during our stay as she was out of the country. Barry, the barkeep at the local watering hole, made sure our thirsts were slaked on many late night occasions in Thomastown. The activities within a short distance from Dysart are abundant - golf, day spas, shopping in Kilkenny, canoeing, horse races... Our memories from Dysart will always be treasured by our family as it was our last real vacation together before my father passed away from cancer this winter. We would love to come back and visit and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a truly amazing getaway. Many, many thanks! |
