What an amazing place! I can't believe that we were able to find such a relaxing and peaceful place only two hours from our home in Albuquerque. I am embarrassed to say that I have lived in Albuquerque almost all of my life and have never visited Abiquiu - I would go on about the Casita, but I think all the wonderfulness has been covered in the other 37 comments. What an incredibly magical place. We had fun all day and then relaxed in the hot tub at night. Thank you Scott & Glynn - we will be back! |

| We stayed in this beautiful casita for a week the end of June, first part of July, 2009. It is everything you see on the website and more! Scott and Glynn have done a fantastic job in decorating it in southwestern style, but also with comfort. Like I mentioned in the journal I wrote in before we left, this is a magical place! How do you describe the fabulous views all around the casita with the mountains in the background? The sunrises and sunsets were spectacular, and on numerous occasions we got up in the middle of the night to look at the stars. They were incredible. One of my favorites was experiencing a double rainbow after a rain one day. You'd have to live under a rock not to appreciate the beauty of this place. There is lots to see and do here; we hiked Chimney Rock at Ghost Ranch, the Plaza Blanca formations next to the mosque; the Puye Cliff Dwellings were so interesting; a must see! Ojo Caliente Hot Springs is also fun to do. We took a day trip to Santa Fe and enjoyed the art galleries and shopping. Los Alamos is another great little town! If you want a place that is peaceful and relaxing, then this is it. You will absolutely love it!!! |

| Awesome place, the best cabin I have ever stayed. Nice view and the out door hot tub was extra fun. The owner (Scott) is a very nice person and don’t mind going an extra mile for you comfort. And the housekeeper Brenda is very nice and helpful too. I am already planning my next trip there. …. |

11pm. You are sitting in a soothing hot tub, drink in hand, under the darkest of skies. Yet the millions of stars that spill from every direction illuminate the ground like a new moon. Close your eyes and you can feel them: ancient light sliding softly over your skin. So far away and yet so tangible, they oversee The Great Silence that stretches across the desert night. Silence broken only by murmurs of the Eternal, carried on the breeze: "Peace. Be still. Welcome."
This is the message everywhere you turn in and around the Casita. Wood stacked for your fires. Utensils for your cooking. A bed you won't want to leave. A secluded location with a commanding perspective. My wife and I visited for a week, having a "stay-cation" far from our Northeast home. We have no dining recommendations because we made all of our meals in the casita's well-appointed kitchen. Why go out when you can dine with a 360-degree view of some of the most spectacular scenery in the world? So we cooked, ate, soaked, felt the stars, watched the sun rise and set and viewed some of the excellent DVDs that Scott and Glynn have assembled. It's a wonderful place where all the creases and knots of urban Northeastern life were smoothed and loosened.
We did venture out to see some of the sights. The mountain Pedernal presides over the landscape, so massive that it is more like a planet than a mountain, its gravity keeping the surrounding world in place. Plaza Blanca looks more like the moon than anything on earth. The rocks at Ghost Ranch are stunning, and walking the labyrinth there is a powerful experience. Echo amphitheatre is interesting and fun. If you really want an adventure, drive the 13 mi., cliff-hugging, rutted dirt road to Christ in the Desert Monastery. It is neither for the faint of heart nor the poor in faith. Never, ever consider driving it if it's wet. But it's worth the ride: mile after mile of rugged, untouched country, a sinuous, raging river, and breathtaking vistas at the top of each hairpin turn.
If you're thinking of getting away, get to this Casita while you can. With a fabulous house, an amazing location and attentive owners (who also have good decorating sense), you can't go wrong. |

We have rented dozens of vacation homes, and this one is by far the nicest one. Many have a great view, comfortable furniture, stylish decor, good location, well stocked kitchen or features like a hot tub or nice fireplace. This one has it all, and in addition, there is privacy without having to drive far off the grid. We have stayed here twice, and will be back. There is no more affordable, quality lodgings available. |

We had the pleasure of staying in this beautiful casita from Sept. 19th to Sept. 22nd, which I must say was not long enough. The casita itself is so warm and cozy, the decor is wonderful and the extra amenities provided by Scott and Glynn are perfect. The view from this fabulous home is beyond description. We have tried to express in words the beauty of the landscape but have been unable to do it justice. We, too, hope that not too many people find out about this place as we intend to return and would be terribly disappointed if it was not available to us. We visited Ghost Ranch and made the hike to Chimney Rock - the most stunning views you can imagine. Relaxing in the hot tub under the stars after a long hike was a perfect way to end a perfect day. We wish to express our thanks to Scott and Glynn for allowing us to spend time in this wonderful, magical place. We are just sorry that we did not have the opportunity to meet them and thank them personally, maybe next time. It was an experience that will not be forgotten. I didn't have the chance to write in the guestbook while I was there but I wanted to put a great review up for this place. My friend from work and I road triped up there and stayed for three nights. The views from the casita were amazing and it was extremely relaxing hanging out in the hot tub or just sitting out on back/front porch.
One place I do have to recommend like crazy is Casa Blancas, it is an extremely easy hike and has some wonderful views! We were able to walk right up to it and have a picnic lunch by it.
If you don't feel like leaving *totally understandable* try hiking down the big hill in the back. I went down there and found some dried up stream bed looking areas and it is a nice hike up.
I took my dog and this is by far the most pet friendly place I have been too. She had a blast getting to hike around with us and even went swimming down at the lake.
The casita was clean and was everything they said it was.

Just like the previous visitors I came with my sister. We stayed for 4 days and then went to Santa Fe missing the casita the entire time. I came here to paint but the need to paint dissolved as I watched the ever changing scenery in awe. The play of light and clouds changes the view of the mountains continuously. I did get some painting done on the second day.
I can't say enough about our stay here. Beautiful, clean, quiet, a place for introspection. The hot tub is maintenance free - just remove the cover and enjoy! You'll be entranced by the 360 degree view. No wonder NM license plates say "land of enchantment". Scott and Glynn obviously put a lot of forethought and love into this place. We had the opportunity to spend some time with them and thoroughly enjoyed it. The casita is a beautiful house and well stocked. We slept soundly - the mattress was as comfortable as mine at home.
We stopped at Trader Joes in Santa Fe on our way and did not have to make any emergency stops at the store for our entire stay.
My plan is to bring my husband here for our anniversary in 2009.
Thank you Scott and Glynn!!

my sister and I visited the Abiquiu Lake Casita the end of June and were amazed that such a place could be rented. Of course the calendar fills up quickly so getting the last 3 days that were available this summer must have been meant to be. I live in the foothills of Boulder which is beautiful, peacfull and magnificent but the Casita at Abiquiu made me very envious. We are still thinking about it. Our next three day stay in Santa Fe was very difficult to take because we longed to be back at Abiquiu. You really can't describe how magical the casita, surrounding buttes, sky, water and energy all come together in one amazing location. I hope you too can experience it one day. Thank you Scott for making our visit so memorable. Sincerely, Diana and Catherine |

| The casita is the perfect place to relax and enjoy peace and quiet, but also close enough to enjoy Taos and Santa Fe. It is truly the best of both worlds. Favorite days were long hikes in national forests and then soaking in hot tub while staring at the stars. We would definitely recommend this casita .Dick and Judy Gerber, St. Louis |

| We had the best vacation here that we've had in years. The casita is very generously appointed with a grand view from every window. We've been to New Mexico on a number of occasions - to Taos and SanteFe, but I don't know if I could ever go back there knowing what I do now about Abiquiu. We loved every minute. We will be back. (p.s. Great hiking is near. I ate really great food and still lost 2 lbs.)Thank you Scott and Glynn. You've done a great job with the place. |

The patios provide 360 degrees of incredible views. The hot tub was fabulous, especially at night under the stars. The mesa feels private and is absolutely quiet and peaceful. This is a idea choice for a visit to the northern NM area. This fully stocked casita was perfectly situated on a mesa between Lake Abiquiu and Pedernal. The views were spectacular whether the sun was rising, setting or just relaxing in the hot tub under the stars. The location of the casita enabled us to visit many beautiful areas, historical sites, and enjoy Mexican cuisine whether eating out, or preparing a meal in the fully stocked kitchen. We visited Ghost Ranch, Taos, Santa Fe, Los Alamos, Echo Amphitheatre, and took several hikes. During our week northern NM adventure we enjoyed total privacy and benefitted from a well-thought-out facility designed for a romantic getaway. Try it, you'll love it!

| Stayed for three nights in April. We have rented VRBO's across the land, and this one is everything it claims to be and more. The location is magnificent - remote but a relatively short drive to civilization. The house is well-stocked with quality household items (including much-coveted binoculars!), and Scott is very friendly and sincerely cares for guests' well-being and comfort. Highly recommended. Heaven on Earth is The Abiquiu Lake Casita!!
Since last summer, I have been meaning to write a review about one of the most “amazing” and “peaceful” vacations my husband and I have ever taken. From 9/11/07 for nine glorious days, my husband and I stayed at the Abiquiu Lake Casita.
I cannot even begin to explain the beauty of this property. Photos do not do it justice. It is absolutely spectacular!!
Once you follow the directions and you arrive at the casita, you will be 100% completely alone. Just, you, the clouds, the stars, and nature. We had no other homes near us. There is one neighbor’s home that you can see off in the distance, but that’s it. During our entire stay, there were no planes flying overhead, cars, neighbors, or other distracting sounds. It’s just you and nature.
There are so many things that make this property stand out. First are the breathtaking views from the casita. To the south is Abiquiu Lake and the Red Cliffs; to the north is the Pedernal. I can’t even begin to explain how beautiful and spectacular this landscape is.
My husband and I had so many plans during our vacation, to visit and explore, but we became obsessed with the beauty of this property. In fact, I particularly became OBSESSED with cloud formations. When I read the guest book in the property every visitor said the same thing, the views are breathtaking! I cannot even begin to explain the beauty of the sky at night filled with stars while sitting in the hot tub. It was a very humbling experience. Now I haven’t even started on the inside of the property which is just as equally amazing. First I must explain that my husband and I are very picky about how well a property is maintained, if it’s beginning to show signs of wear, and especially the cleanliness level of the property.
Now I can truthfully say, whatever standard you have set for yourself for a vacation home, the Abiquiu Lake Casita will meet every expectation and still blow you away. The furniture and set up of this home can match any 4-5 star hotel. Every luxury that you can think of was provided. The hot tub (which was top of the line and brand new) was wonderful. Inside the home, every item picked out by Scott and Glynn were carefully chosen for luxury and comfort. From the comfortable couch in the living room, the large screen television with cable, the wireless internet, the kitchen table, oh so comfortable bed (with another flat screen tv in the bedroom), the oh so fluffy towels and bedding, the dishwasher and washer and dryer—all high quality and top notch. Even the little items, the pots and pans, coffee cups and dishes, even the silverware –again all heavy duty, high quality and top notch. From the time my husband and I arrived we felt like we were surrounded by luxury.
To be able to have so much comfort but at the same time have the ability to connect so closely with nature -- like I said very humbling experience. We will be back!

| This was our favorite place of all during our recent vacation to New Mexico. Beautiful views in every direction, a spotless and wonderfully decorated casita, and indescribable peace and quiet. If you want to get away from it all (but still have internet, tv, and a very friendly dog visit from the house down the road) this is the right place. I'm still daydreaming about our nights in the hot tub, looking up at millions of stars in every direction! No wonder Georgia O'Keeffe was enchanted by this area. We'll be back as often as we can! |

While looking for a new and special destination to celebrate our 25th anniversary, my husband found this casita that seemed to stand out among the others. It sounded too good to be true, but we excitedly anticipated our trip for months anyway. EVERYTHING is just as it is described. The only drawback to raving so much is that, as the last comment said, too many folks will reserve, and there will never be any openings for us if we should ever be so blessed to go again.
We can't stop talking about how it was all so wonderful. Even with a short storm almost every day, the weather did not hinder us. At first, we thought it was rather remote (something that we are not used to since we live in a condo) since one must drive down a long unpaved road, but the remoteness is actually one of the best assets. We were still connected to the world, if we wanted to be, through cell phone and internet.
The furnishings are great, the bed comfy, the bathroom beautiful, the views spectacular; the casita is clean and new, and we felt at home instantly.
We had everything we needed and more. Thanks so much to the owners, Scott and Glynn for making our stay so wonderful! |

| I initially thought the best thing to do was just leave a long rambling message about how utterly horrible this place was. Maybe that way none of you would stay there and there would be more nights for us, but really though that would be bad karma, so let's just be honest: this place is amazing, the views, the house itself, the hot tub, the owners. Can't be beat. Buy food before you arrive though, in Abiquiu or Espanola or Santa Fe, as there are slim picking nearby in terms of grocery stores. We'll be back for sure. |

The bed, hot tub, decor and solitude is more than one could ask for in a rental. It was inspiring to view Pedernal everyday whether it was rain or shine and helped you understand the great love Georgia O'Keefe had for the area. The casita is fabulous with everything you could possibly need and the view is 360 degrees of spectacular scenery. We can't wait to go back and plan on making this a favorite vacation spot. |

The NM history book there is fascinating. If you want a great drive, go back out to the hiway, turn towards Youngsville (town?) and turn left onto Forest Rd 100. This casita is a one-of-a-kind place with an amazing location, great amenities and wonderful hosts. Be prepared that you will be staying a mile and a half off the paved road -- we got used to it after two days though were a little anxious at first about our rental car. Twenty minutes to the nearest store so stock up with what you need. But oh so quiet and spacious. And so close to the elements: we had stillness, incredible wind, thunder and lightning, socked in rain, snow and crystal clear skies at different times in six days. The fireplace is wonderful, the bed a bit soft, the DVD collection impressive, the hot tub a delight, the countryside spectacular. We strongly recommend this as a quiet time getaway you will not regret. Thanks to Glynn and Scott. |

You're welcome! About the bed: it is firm for the back, but soft for the bones!! I suffer from arthritis and a bad back, so I need firm support--but not hard. It's a $2500. mattress; however, to make it feel firmer, we're turning it over; it will still be quite plush.

Hi, Glynn. Thanks for the note, we appreciate your interest in how our stay was. And speaking of that, we had a great time! The casita is spacious and comfortable, and you two have set it up like a 4 star hotel with all the little extras (thanks again). We would definitely like to rent from you again. Also, the location that you & Scott choose for your casita is spectacular. My wife is an artist and is well acquainted with Georgia O'Keefe, so being able to vacation in the shadow of El Pedernal was a special occasion for her. I love the Rio Chama wilderness, so the close proximity to it was great. We fished & hiked there several times (I would highly recommend it if you've never been there, it's only about a 30 minute drive from your casita). Thanks again for a great vacation stay at your casita and we look forward to renting from you in the near future. All the best, Paul & Angelis Jackowski
