This was a fabulous place and I would highly recommend it with no reservations. It was very big for just the 4 of us (my husband, Dick and I, and my sister with her husband) and our little Norwich Terrier, Rudy. We had invited more friends/family but they couldn't make it due to other commitments. We were very pleased at how secluded it was from the road and the cabin itself is very nicely laid out and spotless. There are two bedrooms, a bathroom, laundry room and family room downstairs where we spent quite a bit of time playing cards. The main floor has a huge great room, a nicely laid out kitchen with every convenience, and a bathroom. This was a very comfortable area to "hang out" at night watching movies or in the morning after breakfast figuring out our itinerary. The master bedroom and bath are upstairs and very spacious. The cabin could easily accomodate 8-10 people. There are plenty of areas to congregate but also plenty of room to be by yourself. There's a wonderful wrap around porch and I wish we had had a little more time to spend there. If you stay there, make sure to at least go out one night and look at the stars. We did see some wild life - the most exciting was bear cubs just down the road on our last day. We also saw a bald eagle, two coyotes, some raccoon, deer, grouse and wild turkeys. We enjoyed some nice hikes exploring the waterfalls in the area including Copper Falls, Morgan Falls and St. Peter's dome (great!), Upton Falls, Saxon Falls, Potatoe Falls (upper great, lower soso), Big Manitou, etc. Copper Falls and other state parks don't allow dogs on trails, but most did which was great. Rudy loved the hikes. Other trips included Bayfield and Duluth to check out shops and Glennsheen mansion (very nice). Soso reviews on the Hideaway from my 3 companions (I missed that one watching Rudy). Also went to Hayward to check out the Fishing Hall of fame which was a hoot and ate at the Famous Dave's barbecue on Round lake (very good and it is the original). Only other time we ate out was our first night at the Elkhorn (casual and good family type food - burgers, chicken, etc.). We mostly ate dinners at the cabin because it was so easy and relaxed, especially with the grill. Trust me this place is even better than it sounds. We were extremely pleased.

We had a great time and loved our stay at the Ghost Creek Lodge. It was very clean and had everything we needed. There were only two of us, so we had more room than was necessary but it was situated in the area we wanted to visit. We trailered our motorcycle to the area and took daily rides. There is a lot to see in the Hayward and Lake Superior area. I would recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a nice, relaxing home away from home. We will certainly consider renting this cabin again if we are ever in the area.

When we opened the door, there was a unified gasp of amazement at our good fortune for having found such a beautiful home to call "home" for a week. The accommodations and amenities were more than we'd hoped for. We had 7 adults and a 13 mo. old and all were comfortable. Since we all like to cook, we were most appreciative of the well equipped kitchen. By the time our week was up, we had taken in just enough of the sites in the surrounding area to have been entertained and had enough around-the-house family time to reconnect and appreciate the joys of just being together without an agenda - a perfect balance. Thanks for sharing your amazing home and outdoor space with us!

We love this cabin! It's great for a group to stay...very spacious! We've been 2 years in a row (both times during the summer) and plan on going back. The location is perfect! Lots of fun biking, hiking, and enjoying the woods! We recommend Copper Falls hike, Morgan Falls hike, and spending an afternoon in Hayward.

I have stayed in this cabin three times now, Two snowmobile trips and one ski trip. Once in 2005 and twice in 2006; I am going back for a fourth in April. Being from Marquette, MI it is hard to find anywhere that matches our outdoor playland, But now I have found a rustic hideway with modern amenities to get away too. This cabin offers the perfect balance of solitude and exciting or relaxing outdoor activities. I have stayed compfortably with up to 8 people. I would recomend this cabin to anyone looking for a place to get away in the wilderness with the compforts of home.

This is truly the nicest cabin I have stayed in ever. The detail is unbelievable. For the first trip I had to attend a conference for business and was pleasantly suprised that my entire sales team could fit in the cabin. The second time 7 men went up to Hayward for a snowmobile trip. The rugged northern Wisconsin is not near as rugged with this true oasis in the middle of the Northwoods.
I reccomend this property highly. |
