Nora & David,
Thank you so much for having us at Noe's Nest. We enjoyed our stay so much! The house was beautiful and the grounds are incredible. (Thanks for the tour of the garden David and all the information about the plants...) You have inspired Andy to do some gardening when we get home. The boys especially enjoyed the animals... Nathan loved the cats and the "wabbitts" and I have a feeling Jakob will be talking about Augie for a long time. Of course I will miss my big girl Lulu (glad she is getting around better.) We had a wonderful time in Hilo and did lots of fun stuff. Thanks for sharing relaxing cottage with us!

Your have a beautiful ohana house and we enjoyed staying here. We enjoyed the excited greetings by Schatzie, Augie, and Bijou whenever we left or came home. Lulu seemed to be our back patio guardian, spending most of her time sleeping against the door or on the next mat over. The goats and Merlin were very cute...and I did "enjoy" getting spit on by Merlin! Mahalo, Jon & Sandi

Thank you Nora and Dave!
The "Nest" was wonderful! All the fauna and animals were amazing . The cats and dogs made us feel like home. This was our first visit to the islands and we are SURE to return. This is truly a magical place and your hospitality made it special. We went to many places in our short time. Hilo Bay for whale watching, Helicopter for volcano "ring of fire" and more whale watching (our favorite) The Tsunami Museum for history, Alalanui Warn springs...thank you for directions to help us: typical tourists! Great food at Ken's...now we are off to the Kona side...Thanks again. Tracy, Dodi, John, & Mike

Dear Dave and Nora, What a welcome change!! Arrived from Kona a little frazzled and right away the quiet relaxed us. It's so good to see the quiet, country-loving-side of the Big Island. Thanks, Dave, for your guided tour of your acrerage (& your passion fruit!) Thank you Nora for your well-appointed "Nest" and your attention to have on hand some of the niceties we don't want to pack along. And each and every animal was a real blessing, each in thier own way! Thank you SO MUCH! Howard, Deanie, Richland, Wes & Rollins Cicon
PS. To those future guests....when you are downtown Hilo...don't be fooled by those well-advertized places to eat...try the Royal Siam Thai Food...a place not advertized, but extremely good! Also right around the corner on the main drag is the Puka-Puka kitchen...it doesn't look like much but the food is GREAT. Also enjoyed the Pescatori! The Cicons
Mahalo nui...to Nora, Dave and Noe...and our animal friends. (this is followed by a great little drawing of kid and pet!)

Hello Friends and potential visitors to Noe's Nest...
We have a guestbook in the Nest for our visitors to leave us their thoughts and comments. I am proud that, for 3 years, we only had 1 dissatisfied couple...but I guess some people would complain even if they were in God's pocket.(And I do think that Noe's Nest is probably pretty close to God's pocket.)
I will let you read the notes that I have copied VERBATIM from our visitor's and hopefully they will help you decide if this is the place you would like to visit! We hope to meet you soon....the only thing missing is the great drawings by the children who have loved our pets!
Aloha, Nora Waters

What a gorgeous setting! After two beach stays on other parts of the Islands, we were astonished by the beauty and lushness of the landscaping of Noe's Nest. The atmosphere was fantastic! I felt like I was in "true" Hawaii. Loved being greeted by the animals each morning. This is the perfect base to explore the east side of the island in comfort. How thoughtful of Nora to provide thick jackets for our trek to Mauna Kea for a stargazing party. Who wants to pack something like this for an island vacation? No worries...Nora and Dave anticipated all our needs and also told us about special snorkeling spots. Don't miss the chance to see the lava flow at night, Kaumana Caves, Hilo's rainforest zoo and Waipi'o Valley with the most gorgeous black sand beach you will ever see! I will not hesitate to stay here again when I return. On my last night, I finally made it up the mountain without making any wrong turns! Mahalo! |

I just stayed at this rental house outside of Hilo from late June to early July 2008. The house was a great base of operations for exploring all the natural wonders on the east side of the Big Island. The house is about 1200 ft above sea level and there was a constant breeze, so even on hot days the house stayed cool. On clear days you could see Hilo and the ocean in the distance from the lanai. Star gazing was fantastic from the house on clear nights.
It rained only two or three times in 10 days, and mainly at night and it was fairly sunny most days. The hosts were very accommodating and friendly as were their many animals. I would recommend this for anyone wanting to explore the east side of the Island. |

Dear Nora and Dave--
Thanks so much for NOE'S NEST--Frank and I have been to Hawaii quite a few times and always loved it--but THIS IS THE FIRST TIME WE FELT LIKE WE LIVED HER!
The house was great, very well equipped and stocked. Comfortable and perfoect for the whole family.
I'm a gardener/horticulturist and what a surprise to see the great gardens and fabulous palms.
From the time that we arrived late at night, when we were welcomed by the animals to now as we are packing to leave, our stay in Hilo has been wonderful. We loved having the animals around; our granddaughter Ruth (3 1/2) especially loved Augie and Mr. Crooked Ears (Mr. Poopie Toes).
Mahalo and best wishes for all that you do--
Jane and Frank Giblin, Sr. ____________________ Dear Nora and Dave,
Had a great time and enjoyed all the animals. Merlin only spit at me twice! Great weather and VIEWS. Best of luch Nora with your child Psychology degree. Jane and I are off to Kona for a week--the rest of the clan head home.
Aloha, Frank Sr. ________________________ Dear Nora and Dave,
This is from me, Ruth. I liked the beaches and the palm trees--I liked the dogs because they lick me so much and I like their names. I like the kitty cats because they play so much except when Mr. PT nips! Now I'm sad because we're going home!
Love, Ruth (age 3 1/2) ________________________________
Dear Nora & Dave,
I feel bad that I never really got to talk to you during the week we were here, but I feel like I know you somewhat through your gardens and animals and home! We enjoyed the time to be together as a family and to explore your island here! Thanks for being so accomodating to our little one! We felt loved and cared for in Noe's Nest.
Mahalo and Aloha, Lori Giblin ___________________________
To my untrained eye the stars seems as bright outside yhour back door as the Mauna Kea Visitor Center at 9000 ft! I enjoyed the restful time here and looking for lizards around the yard. Using a compass on the facket sleeve (star-gazer's coats) I found bearing 40' to the radio tower and 100' to the light house at Kapoho from the lanai. Will try to find your house on the map, and maybe Google Earth.
Thanks, Michael Giblin

Thank you Dave and Nora,
Our stay at Noe's Nest was both enjoyable and memorable. We took many pictures and videos of our stay on the island. Thank you Dave and Nora for your hospitality and the nest to spend our week in. The animals made us feel at home and were very friendly.
We most enjoyed the snorkeling and swimming on the island. The Kilauea hike was like nothing else, almost like a T-rex was around the courner with the 15 foot ferns and sulfer vents!
Some of our favorite things abouot our stay on the Big Island were the palm trees and our day at Beach 69 near Hapuna Beach. Thanks to Dave for the fantastic landscaping which made a nice backdrop for our stay. Our Waipio Valley hike was challenging and had beautiful scenery.

Dear Nora, Dave and Noe,
I have lost track of dates on this vacation in the Big Island. I love it here on this isle, and particularly at Noe's Nest. As I write this, my husband and I are sitting on the lanai enjoying the evening breeze and the gorgeous VIEW. The kids are still with the animals! They've been with them for hours. Future visitors...be sure and check out Rainbow Falls in Hilo. It has amazingly huge and climbable (is that a word?) Banyan trees
Thank you Nora & Dave for your hospitality and letting us stay in your well-appointed next. I especially enjoyed the beautiful array of plants and trees!

Thank you to Dave, Nora and Noe for providing a wonderful place to come home to each night after our adventures in Hilo. Your place is nicely decorated and supplied with everything we needed except the food!
Thanks also for the grand tour of your luscious gardens. We are certainly envious that very few of these plants can actually grow in Seattle!
We also enjoyed getting to know the farm menagerie. I have to say Lulu, your basset hound was a favorite just because she's so adorable---how can you NOT love that FACE? But we certainly enjoyed Schatzie and Augie, the weiner brothers, Belle, Joey, PT and the other 2 cats. It was great to be able to hold one of the baby goats and nuzzle Merlin the llama.
We appreciated the giant binoculars. We set it up on the lanai and were able to see a planet (not sure which one) with 4 surrounding star because nights are so wonderfully dark up here!

How calming and restorative this nest is; we are sad to leave every inch of its charm. Snuggling in the grand kingsize with "clouds" for cover...who knew Wamsutta was so close to heaven! The furries, cats, dogs, birds, mice, llama, goat...Sesame Seed who melted my heart but not as much as baby grey Josie cat who arrived and allowed me snuggling time on the lanai.
The wonderful soft rainwater to wash away the days weariness as we drove on island. Marveling at each garden area and what is to seen.. And being able to bring our dog along. He was a bit shocked to be amongst other 4 legged critters...good for him. Each room painted so cheerfully and rich feeling and looking. Pretending to be Mark Twain setting on the lanai reading, gazing at the expansive view of the coast and sea. All around us the sounds of silence, some barks, some crowing, rains coming, rains going. And the hospitality, graciousness, and caring of you and your family meeting our every need. I will be sharing all this with many friends, and will return. | Noelani's Nest is truly an awesome place to stay. The cool climate and beautiful 2 bedroom home is a home away from home. You will experience a real Hawaiian vacation. It is so private and peaceful. There is no rushed feeling like you get at a hotel. The scenery is so majestic and relaxing. The air is fresh and clean. I would highly recommend this Bed and Breakfast to all! |

| Noelani's Nest is a welcome retreat from the usual tourist destination. Staying there made me feel as if I was in a secluded mountain escape, even though I was only a few miles from Hilo! The views are incredible. I could see Hilo town below, the snow-capped volcano up the slope, and the magnificent star-filled Hawaiian sky at night. The property features numerous unusual tropical flowering plants and trees and a variety of friendly animals (including llamas!) The owner/family is accomodating and has a wealth of knowledge about favorite island destinations. For a truly relaxing visit to the islands, I would highly recommend Noelani's Nest! |
