Our family has been making yearly visits to Maine since 1992. We love the MidCoast Area and had a "favorite house" which we rented for several years. Alas, the owners retired and that home was no longer available, so we searched for another spot ... broadening our search area to include Belfast... north of our previous haunts. This old-timey Maine farm house was a wonderful new discovery. We loved being able to actually stay in one of the houses connected to the barn that is unique to Maine. This home is beautifully decorated - even the old fashioned 3 holed outhouse in the "middle house" has been spruced up to be entertaining. [No worries, there's a lovely modern bathroom in the house!] There was lots of room for our family to spread out. My husband and I loved taking our coffee and books out to the "picture window" view from the open barn doors each morning before the kids were up. The location is not on the water, but is only minutes from water access in several different places. The village of Belfast was something new to explore (great fudge at the candy store!) and we found many new places to explore. We look forward to returning to a new "favorite spot" another summer.

This place was perfect. This was our first visit to Maine and we were lucky to find the farm house. We are a family of 4 with two boys (11 & 8 years) so we thought that this big place might be overkill but it was cozy and comfortable and we wanted for nothing. We only ended up using two of the four bedrooms they were huge. The house itself is incredible when you think of the age it is beautifully maintained. The barn in the back was a great hang out place for my boys and we spend most mornings just hanging out shooting hoops at the house and playing down at the water in the paddle boat and swimming.
Belfast is the perfect place to stay. It was not a crowded little town and you could move about easily. Some of the villages that we visited were very crowded and touristy which is great because we are tourist but it is nice to stay someplace quiet and visit a busy area.
Some "must do's" if you have kids. The Rockland breakwater lighthouse is very neat and if you go on the weekends you can get inside to see the restoration project. You walk way out into the water on a man made break wall built of giant rocks. There is a wonderful hike up Mount Batte in Camden. It is a mile and a half and a little challenging but well worth it. We also went out on the Schooner "simplicity" out of Rockland for a sail that was beautiful. The captain Mark was wonderful with the kids and had them raising up the sails and steering the boat. Bar Harbor and Acadia is not a bad drive either and well worth the trip. Of course a trip to Maine would not be complete without Lobster. Belfast has that too. Young’s Lobster Pound is very close. Nothing fancy but good lobster that they cook and serve up for you right there. You can buy your pop there but if you want beer or wine just bring your own along.
If you have any doubt about renting this place you shouldn’t. It would be sufficient for a family of any size. The host's are wonderful to deal with and there is everything that you need right there. I really do feel lucky to have stumbled onto this place in my search.

My husband and I have spent many weekends over the last two years touring coastal towns throughout the mid coast, looking for just that right spot. For our vacation last fall, we landed by chance at this lovely farmhouse in Belfast, and were more than pleased with our comfortable accommodations and the gracious nature of our hosts.

In-town shopping and restaurants were abundant, yet Rockport and Camden were just a short ride away. Whether we settled in with a book or a jigsaw puzzle, fished with a seasoned Maine guide, or visited the breathtaking views at nearby Acadia, our off-season stay was relaxing, comfortable, and fit our needs perfectly. This farmhouse was a wonderful home base!

We visited the farm house in Sept. 2006. It is a perfect place to vacation. The farmhouse is as comfortable as being at home. The area has lots to see and do. We visited state parks, shopped, and covered a large area of mid coast Maine. There are plenty of good eating places but it was also nice to eat a few meals at "home" and make picnic lunches to take to the beautiful nearby parks. There are great shops in Belfast and the surrounding area and the people are friendly. We felt so welcomed by our hosts even though we didn't get to meet them this time. We definitely plan on returning for another visit. We call it our Maine "home away from home". TRY IT AND YOU WILL LOVE IT!!!

If you are looking to go on vacation but want the feeling of home, this is the place you want to go. We have made going to this farmhouse a yearly tradition in our family. We all know vacations can be expensive, but with this farmhouse you don't have to worry about going out to eat or to the laundrymat. The kitchen is fully equipped so you can make all your meals there. This house is full of charm and peacefulness. Even if it rains, you can still have fun making a puzzle/reading a book/playing board games at the table, surrounded by windows, in the parlor. This home away from home brings you down memory lane, as the house is old with today's amenities. The owners have done an absolute wonderful job decorating with furniture, some new, some antiques. There is plenty of room even if you have a big family, which we do. Whiffle ball, baseball or soccer are great activities in the yard. Swan Lake is a great place to bring a picnic and spend the day swimming. Lincolnville is a nice beach for kids to swim or search for crabs. Lighthouses have become a favorite for us to visit also. We travel to a new one each time we are there. The ferry across to Ilseboro is wonderful and there are areas to picnic and swim at Pendleton Point, which is open to the public. I highly recommend bringing your car across the ferry because the island is spectacular to drive through, plus Pendleton Point is too far to walk to. There are so many places to see and so much to say about this farmhouse. Rent it for one week and you will understand as soon as you walk in the doorway. You'll want a weekly vacation here to become a tradition too.

We have stayed at the farmhouse for 5 years now and we LOVE every minutes of it. My family consists of myself, my 2 daughters and my 7 grandkids plus friends. We alway have plenty of room and they kids enjoy the spaciousness of the farm. They place baseball or soccer in the field next to the house or we go to the lake which is 15 minutes away or go to the ocean which is less than 15 minutes away. We enjoy the closeness to everything. We always go to Camden and to Lincolnville Beach and we take the ferry to the island. We all love going to the farm and we all look forward to coming back every year. When the kids are playing ball in the field I sit on the porch with my daughters and they read a book and I watch the kids. WE JUST LOVE THE FARMHOUSE!!! The design of the house is a walk into the past. I can't say enough good things about it!!!
