We're having a great time with perfect weather for sightseeing. I can't
remember when I've seen so many museums and galleries in such a short
time but the busses and metro are so easy to use. We're off to a concert
tonight at the Palau de la Musica Catalana and we're really looking forward to
that.

Hi Jill:
The apartment was fantastic! Derek has invested a lot into the apartment. It
is clean and comfortable. The bathroom is large, with bathtub and shower.
The finishings in the bathroom are marble. The apartment has a large
window which makes the unit sunny and comfortable. The kitchen has
everything you would need. The building is beautiful with a wonderfully
friendly concierge who is very helpful (in broken English). I thought the
location was the great. You are a one minute walk to Las Ramblas. There is a
huge department store across the street with a grocery in the
basement....very handy. As an aside, the sight seeing buses launch across
the street in front of the department store, so it is very handy. The tours
from these open buses are great. They travel around the city with headsets to
listen to the points of interest and stop at each site. You can get on and off
at your leisure and it is the best way to see the vast city. Get a couple day
pass, well worth it and you will see things that would be difficult to get to on
your own. We almost didn't use the tourist buses, but honestly, Barcelona is
so big, it really is the best way to see everything and decide where you want
to spend your time.
Derek has an 'agent' in Barcelona that will greet you and make sure that you
get the keys and run through the apartment features and can be contacted if
anything goes wrong with the apartment. Sergio is terrific and speaks very
good English.
I was so pleased with Derek's apartment and the location and if I go back,
which I would love to, I will definitely stay again...no hesitation. I haven't met
Derek personally, but I found him to be very helpful via email and think that
you have found an excellent place to base your vacation.

Hi Derek,
Your apartment was great - the perfect location in the nicest block of the
nicest street. It was very comfortable and quiet, which I enjoyed.
One difficulty we had was not having a phone or computer access. We kept
having to run to the internet café two blocks away, several times a day to
get in touch with people, make reservations etc. I rented an apartment in
Palm Springs in February through VRBO and there was free telephone to
anywhere in the US and a computer with internet access. Not having either in
your place may only be a problem for North Americans, as I guess most
European visitors have a mobile phone with them and/or a laptop. We were
concerned that in case of an emergency, there's no way to call anyone. Since
you have people's VISA details for the deposit, would there be a way of
providing a phone but charging for phone calls?
Apart from that, it was all perfect and Barcelona is a fun city. Thanks
again.

Thanks for asking... I so enjoyed the four nights in your place...was able to
host a dinner for my son and his friends...then breakfast and lunch the next
day too.
Really enjoyed the BED! seriously... sweet and comfy and I got all caught up
from the transatlantic lag there very well and continued to enjoy barcelona
for another four nights....four in Cadiz ... a Barcelona finale with my son and
now back in estados unidos missing espana.
enjoy take care... maybe I will connect you up with photos from a house i own
in the mountains of western colorado where I am now enjoying delicious time
with my granddaughter
