| We stayed at Casa Verano in May 2007. It was a fabulous get-away. So great, that we are returning in November of 2009. We caught the beginning of the rainy season, it was pleasant and much reminded me of the monsoon of Arizona. We rented bikes while there and rode around town and to the adjacent beach. Local markets and businesses were accommodating and fun to visit. The kayak rental to the island was great. We rented from the German couple with the unique name. She gave great instruction on how to approach the island without getting dumped by the tide. Very cool! We saw the giant sea turtles on the way. One came up to check us out, and by the time I got my camera out of the waterproof compartment, it was gone. We saw the local fishermen coming in on the way back, and followed them to their spot on the beach. We bought 3 fresh red snapper right from their cooler, they cleaned it, and we stuffed and grilled it for dinner. We gave one fish to the couple who provided the kayak at "Kunterbunt" because they were so great. The monkeys entertained us daily from the trees above the house. If you hear a scraping noise on the roof, don't be alarmed. There is a beautiful resident Igauna who lives in the rain gutter and makes a noise when crawling on the roof. While reading on the front porch in the rocking chairs, we noticed a movement, and there it was on the ground watching us. I slowly got up to get the camera and it disappeared. The end of our stay was the beginning of rain season. It would pour and overflow the pool. Fun to jump into at those times. The local school's soccer field would flood with puddles and the kids in uniform would have fun sliding into the mud puddles after school. If you go, make sure to visit the Aloha Beach Bar. Very friendly folks, a family who relocated from a Carribean Island to start a business and make a better life. I don't speak any Spanish, but I'm not sure if AZ Spanish would have helped anyway. We did ok, and were able to communicate with single words, sign, and body language. We called the proprietor "Madre", as she was the lady in charge and mom. She was happy to see us whenever we returned to visit. Funny thing, they played CDs, a variety including some disco music from the 70's. I am not complaining though, it was a experience to remember. The whole trip was great, even the scorpian sting, (not me, but my partner, now husband) nothing serious. After leaving Casa Verano a couple days before departing, which was hard, we rented a car that was brought to us in Samara. We made a quick loop to visit the geothermal area, and swam in "very" hot springs. Too much to do in 10-12 days. That is why we have to go back. I am sure this next visit will be as memorable as the first. Can't wait. |

| We just got back from a month long vacation in Samara at Matt's house and we had a fabulous time. My husband and I traveled with our two children and it was the perfect vacation to do with kids. The beach is a five minute pleasant walk from the house. The house is spacious and comfortable and the pool is great. We were in the water so much that my two year old son learned to swim in the course of a month. All in all an A++ vacation. I miss it already and would go back in a Costa Rican minute. |

We had a wonderful time in Samara! You can walk to everything and the house is beautiful. We saw wildlife from the living room! The area felt very safe and we were travelling with a 1 year old. There was also great fishing opportunities. We would love to return. |

| Six of us visited Casa Verano in early December, 2006. For all of us it was a first trip to Costa Rica. We loved the town of Samara and our easy walk to everything in town from our house. While in Costa Rica, we did visit some other towns and hands down voted based on what we saw elsewhere that we would never stay anywhere else. Casa Verano is a very comfortable, safe and secure property and with few exceptions, we found it to exceed our expectations. The grounds and the pool are well kept and private. Conveniences at the house were mostly good. I had a few ideas that would improve the stay, but they are minor, but I'll tell you, anyway: We thought a beverage cooler in the house would be nice for side trips, and/or even for the porch; we thought for the most part, even though it looked nice, the furniture in the livingroom was uncomfortable; non-perishable spices left in the kitchen would have been nice; and the bed in the middle bedroom, of course, was very uncomfortable. Overall, however, we had a great experience and would rent this house again in a heartbeat. Very comfortable for a party of 6! Thanks Matt and Ryan ! We hope to visit again ! |

Homeowner Response:
In November of 2007, we purchased new furnishings which include, a large sectional sofa, a bigger dining room table which sits 6 instead of 4, a larger tv stand, which has added room for additional electronics, and some misc small tables....we also added a gravel parking area, a gravel sunning area and a large covered workshop/storage are in the back....We hope this helps for our gusts to have a more comfortable stay!!!
