| Wonderful apartment situated in a perfect location. Great to come back to cozy comfort after a day of site-seeing to rest before going out to eat. The Marais is an enchanting and beautiful area of Paris with wonderful shops, delicious bakeries, and enjoyable restaurants that serve delicious food. Within walking distance is Notre Dame, Picasso museum, Place des Vosges, the Latin Quarter, etc. Thank you for letting me stay in your little piece of heaven! I will be back and hopefully your apartment will be available. Thanks again, Jack Baldridge. |

| This was our first trip to France and the experience of staying in this wonderful flat and neighborhood took our breath away! The flat was clean, warm, quiet and perfectly located. We had plenty of hot water for showers and all of the needed amenities. The bed was very comfortable and the down bedding made us feel right at home. We discovered we didn't need half of the clothing we brought and there is a drycleaner/laundry really close by. There isn't much room for storing great amounts of luggage in the flat, but you can store them in a storage closet if needed. There are all types of stores, markets and restaurants, in addition to deli's, bakeries, wine shops and fromageries very close by. We didn't want for anything based on our own discoveries and the great map guidance on the site. Plus, the books in the flat were a great help. We walked everywhere and took the Metro when needed. The only taxi we took was to and from the airport. We plan to return as often as possible and will make our plans around the open schedule for this flat. We want to thank the owners for allowing rental of this marvelous flat. Our only regret is that we cannot return several times a year. Maybe one day... |

DETAILS
The apartment is on the fourth story (troisieme etage) of a 17th century building (no elevator). It has an open beam ceiling and two large windows that look onto the courtyard and provide excellent light. It is very quiet at night.
It is a studio with a small kitchen area and a large bath (full tub and shower). The kitchen includes a two burner stove, dishwasher, and all dishes, pans, etc. Best for a sandwich or a quick omelette--not so good for a fancy dinner!
There is a mini-washer dryer in the bathroom, and the main room has cable TV (including CNN), VCR & DVD, phone, fax, copier, Mac/PC printer, and DSL Internet access. The phone is restricted to local calls, so be sure to bring a calling card. The DSL requires special software, which is kept in the writing desk on a CD.
The apartment is furnished with antiques (except for the bed!) with a small hanging closet, a nice big bureau, and a writing desk. There is an iron and small ironing board in the closet, as well as a 220 to 110 converter.
LOCATION
The apartment is in the most picturesque part of Paris, the Marais. It is full of small windy streets, cafes, and restaurants. It is one of the oldest parts of Paris, and is virtually unchanged in the last couple of hundred years.
The apartment is just north of the Place des Vosges, where Victor Hugo lived (there is now a Victor Hugo museum there). The Place is also where the Nights Templar were head quartered, when they were founded. In addition to a number of restaurants, the Place des Vosges has a large number of art galleries, making it a charming place to stroll and window shop.
We're about a 15 or 20 minute walk to Notre Dame and the Quartier Latin, and about 20 minutes by Metro to the Louvre or the Eiffel Tower. Great shopping is only a ten minute walk, right down the street on the Rue de Rivoli.
The rate is $135 per night with a one week minimum (probably going up in the summer). The cleaning fee is $100, and there is a security deposit of $250 (we don't cash the security check, we just hold it until the apartment has been cleaned and inspected). If you are going to be staying two weeks or more we will arrange to have someone come in to change the linens and clean once a week.
The cab fare from Charles de Gaul is 40 to 50 Euros, sometimes s low as 30 if there is no traffic. We can arrange to have someone meet you at the airport if you'd like (they charge 90 euros). We can also take care of any special arrangements you might have (reservations? flowers? a bottle of champaign in the fridge? cheese and bread on the table when you arrive?), for a small service charge.
For a link to photos of the apartment, maps of the area, and a link to the calendar go to peppard dot com (I have to write it this way, as links are not allowed in the comments section).

Remarkably spacious by Parisian standards, this quiet and extremely quiet apartment is the ideal choice for the independent traveler who loves to feel like they really live in Paris. Furnishings are warm and sophisticated, the bath has the rare tub and shower combo and the French Queen Bed is very comfortable, firm with soft down comforter, cotton blanket and brand new pillows. No funny smells, no pilled blankets -- all brand new and fresh, from the paint to the linens. Yet the ancient beamed ceiling and the stairs and courtyard remind you that this building has been here since before Marie Antoinette suggested that the French citizentry should eat cake. Magnificent restoration. Convenient to all -- from the gorgeous Place de Vosges and its marvellous galleries and boulangers, Easy steps to two metro lines and an equally easy walk to the Pompideu Center... this place also comes with a concierge who provided us terrific advice to make our trip even better. We cannot wait to return! |
