One of our best vacation homes ever! My husband and I spent three months in Panama, and we encountered many sub-par rentals that were nothing like their descriptions. This new, custom built, lovely home was the exception, with quality materials used throughout the home. The rooms are huge and inviting, the terrace is ideal for sitting outside, and the creek out back was where I spent many hours, just watching geese, ducks, "Jesus" amphibians, and, of course, the water. The gourmet kitchen is ideal for the serious cook, with excellent quality dishes, utensils, pans, and small appliances. Everything we wanted or needed was there. The market sells fresh fruit and vegetables, and we "ate in" most of the time. In the master bedroom suite our bed was divine, the bathroom spacious, with a huge window looking out into the back yard. In fact, huge windows were in every room, and because of the mild weather, we never used the AC; we just opened the windows and let the breeze fill the house with fresh air. The landscaping is as beautiful as any park, and just walking around the grounds and observing all the trees, shrubs, and plants was a pleasant experience. The neighbor's chickens paid us a daily visit, as did many birds. The property is fenced and gated, but we enjoyed seeing the Panamanian neighbors going about their daily lives, and we were never fearful during our entire stay in El Valle. Because this home and its furnishings are of the highest quality throughout, I would not recommend it for the vacationer who simply wants to "take it easy, put their feet up, and relax" and not worry about leaving a stain on the table, or banging into the walls with luggage, or washing and storing the kitchen knives properly, etc. It would not be a good home to "kick back" in. But for the descerning guest who is happy to treat this home as they would their own, you will never find one better than this! We had to check out earlier than we wanted because the owner was arriving, so we had the good fortune to meet him and hear about his experiences building a house in Panama! |
