We really enjoyed our stay at the Gypsy House the first weekend in December '09. It is so much better than staying in a small, stuffy hotel room. Tall ceilings, spacious floor plan made us feel right at home-with all the amenities of your own home. There is a grocery store just one block over. On Frenchmen's Street, just a few streets over, you can hang out with the locals and hear great Cajun music. This is a great place to stay if you need a respite from all noise & people but yet still very close to the French Quarter. We will definitely be back to the Gypsy House! |

| Great place, spacious. Close to some really nice neighborhood restaurants and hangouts. Stayed downstairs and loved it much better than staying in a hotel. If you are coming from someplace else, the neighborhood at 1st seems iffy, but it was very safe. |

We stayed at the apartment the weekend after Thanksgiving and had a wonderful time.
It's a great location. We easily walked to Frenchman Street, the French Quarter (about 15 minutes), and some wonderful neighborhood establishments. It's funky, Bohemian, and a great taste of NOLA that seemed to us to be much more authentic than the big hotels over on Canal St. It's not a typical tourist experience, which is what we enjoyed the most about it.
The apartment was great and you could really see its roots as a former cafe. Like the neighborhood, it's perfect for someone looking for a more local experience than the big hotels. If you're young or young at heart, try it. We really enjoyed it and would stay again. |
