| Staying at this home was the highlight of our vacation. Everything about this property was just perfect! It is obvious from the moment that you open the door that you will be treated to an exceptional retreat from the stresses of everyday life. It was our first visit to Greater Asheville and we are so thankful that we discovered this house rather than staying at a hotel! I give this rental property a 5 star plus rating.... and from the outside deck overlooking the mountains... you'll see another billion more stars above! |

For the past four years we've rented a house and stayed on Gateway Mountain. This house was wonderful. The view was fantastic and the house fabulous. It had absolutely everything we needed in the way of conveniences and amenities. We will certainly consider staying there again.
We enjoyed the sunset views and the smoke/fog rising on the mountains in the mornings. We saw wild turkeys just about every day (on the mountain). We enjoyed watching the birds flit around the bird feeder. And of course shopping in Black Mountain and Old Fort is always fun too. |

we had a fabulous time at the house!!! the view was SPECTACULAR, and we spent at least half of our time on the porch. the house was VERY WELL equipped with the basics, and very clean and tidy. we enjoyed being in close proximity to black mountain, lake lure, chimney rock and asheville. the drive to each of them was half the fun, as each road was more beautiful than the last. convenient yet secluded, i would choose this house again. thank you for the wonderfully relaxing and rejuvenating stay!!!!!

Lynne,
We are back home now. Hated to leave. That area was so beautiful right now, and this week should be even more lovely, we only wish we could have stayed another week. Temps are going to be wonderful and the leaves we really pop out. We had a wonderful time at your mountain home. Thank you again for the hospitality. What a comfortable home away from home. I missed waking up to the leaves out the windows this morning. Our entire week was beautiful. To wake up Sat and have the sun coming through the clouds and fog was gorgeous. What a wonderful vacation. I reccommend this oasis to everyone. Would like to see the rest of Gateway Mountain. Highly reccommend going to Lake Lure. Beautiful drive and quaint. So many places to visit in such a close area. Asheville, Black Mountain, Grove Park Inn, etc. A Must if you are looking for a beautiful home in the mountains to call your own for a few days.

| Our stay was exquisitely restful, peaceful and ultimately relaxing. It was what we needed to begin our vacation. We enjoyed the setting so much. We could hear animals stepping through the woods and even saw a deer. There were times when it was absolutely silent. What a gem of a place! |

We enjoyed our stay so much because of the combination of the beautiful area and stunning home. The windows really take advantage of the wonderful views and the open floorplan is so refreshing. This is a perfect romantic getaway if you are looking to have a balance of indoor and outdoor beauty. The master bed and bath are what you would hope for in a vacation rental but rarely get. We enjoyed grilling out and spending time on the deck, taking in the serenity of the mountain. It is also very private and set back from the road, so you feel like you have the mountain to yourself. |

| Thank you so much for the use of your home on Mountain Laurel in Gateway Mountain. We had such a relaxing and enjoyable time. It's really a lovely location and a beautiful drive up the mountain. Your home was very comfortable and really nicely stocked. There was nothing that we needed, everything was there, including extra blankets, nice linens, a hair dryer and the kitchen had everything one would need...even coffee filters. Mostly we loved the views out of every window, we awoke to a stunning sunrise and loved seeing the clouds over the town below. At night the twinkling lights from the town are really sweet. We didn't want to leave! We'll be back!! |

| What a lovely place to spend a couple of days. There is something for everyone. My son (4 yrs) enjoyed watching the fire in the fireplace and exploring the house. My girl friend loved the sunny house to relax and read while I thought the view from the deck is just gorgeous. This is clearly a great house to stay in for a weekend or several weeks. |

| We loved our stay in this beautiful home: smartly designed with many interesting architectural features and upgrades, ultra clean, very private and quiet, comfortably furnished, nestled under shady trees and perched high on a mountain side, abundant windows and second floor deck with outdoor seating and bbq area. A vistor can spend lazy, timeless days of R & R "at-home", absorbing the long views of surrounding mountain ridges and valleys and watching the squrrels play in the tree-tops;...or explore the Gateway Mountain community with its private waterfalls, lakes, and abundant wildlife;..or take easy day-trips to enjoy Black Mountain, Lake Lure/Chimney Rock, Flat Rock State Theatre, Biltmore Estate, Blue Ridge Parkway, etc. as well as the Asheville area's great restaurants, cultural and arts options, unique pubs and night life. |

Gorgeous house, inside and out. Has all you need for a perfect vacation. Spend time just relaxing or head out for sightseeing. Don’t have to go far and you can be on Highway 80 heading to the Blueridge parkway. We enjoyed this road just about as much. Old Fort ..just down the road from the house has a few little restaurants or pick up food at the local food store and cook on the deck overlooking the beautiful mountain views. I really don’t want to brag too much ….with all these great reviews it will just make it harder to find a opening to get reservations for our next trip.
Thank you so much again Lynne and Tim !

As an architect and author of books about good house design I can tell you that this is a truly wonderful place to stay. My husband and I spent a week in the house, visiting all the spectacular surrounding countryside by day, and delighting in the comfortable ambiance of the house by night.
From the deck there is a beautiful view in two directions--more or less to the north and to the east--and the views from within the house to the surrounding woodlands are everpresent through the many picture windows.
In short, this is one of the best rental properties you are likely to find. We feel very fortunate to have found it, and we'll be returning at some point in the future I'm sure. |

| Be patient and just follow Lynne's perfect instructions "up the mountain" and you finally arrive in your own piece of paradise. I felt like we were in this amazing tree house for grown ups. Sunset off the side deck is stunning. All the small details have been considered and you immediately feel at home. We stumbled onto the Sourwood Festival in Black Mountain and enjoyed the art, the people and the food but wanted to "go home" to read, nap and just sit. The area has many attractions but leave time to just enjoy this place--it will be the best part of the vacation. |

We spent three nights in this fabulous mountain home for our 25th wedding anniversary. When we arrived we were greeted by a card, flanked by two champagne glasses, congratulating us on our anniversary. The card informed us a bottle of champagne was chilling in the refrigerator. Need I say more about how wonderful our three days at the house were. The views are breathtaking, the air was crisp and cold. The books on the coffee table and visitor guides suggested restaurants and places to visit, making our stay easier, though cross off prime rib at the Red Rocker Inn unless you have a salt deficiency. We felt at home so fast, that after three days, we didn't want to leave. We felt it was ours!! Ha Ha. It is warm and beautiful and so well appointed with so many details thought out for one's comfort. We are looking forward to our next trip there and can sincerely recommend this house to anyone looking for a beautiful, special getaway in the mountains of North Carolina.

| We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It is so nicely furnished and well-equipped, much better than other cabins we've rented. The pictures do not convey the size or feel of this home. It is like a work of art and was very comfortable for 4 adults to visit, cook, and spend some alone time (although the sound does carry into the master bedroom). The setting is beautiful with the lights of the valley looking like a mirror of the starry sky. The location was great for visiting western North Carolina. Thank you for sharing your beautiful house. |

We really enjoyed your cabin. It was very nice. My husband saw three deer, that was the highlight of his trip. We loved the ceilings and your granite countertops. There was some beautiful detail. It has a very homey feeling. The only thing I might suggest is maybe some blinds or curtains in the downstairs bedroom. Even though this place is very private, you get the feeling that someone could look in on you at anytime. Thank you for sharing your cabin with us. David and Khiannon

Dear Jana and Bob, We were blessed with glorious weather both days we were here, bright sunny days and crisp nights when the radiant heat from the wood stove felt cozy and warm.
We traveled to Asheville for the Film Festival. There was a lot of activity downtown on the square. We went to the Grove Park Inn, a must see! As it was Halloween season, there were a lot of goblins running around the hotel.
We enjoyed the ammenities of the cabin. You have done a great job of all the little details.

What a delightful pleasure to spend some time at your wonderful house. Jeff and I appreciated and admired how beautifully and comfortably appointed it is. We thought the architecture was so terrific, it certainly shows that Bob is an architect. We loved all the art, really fascinating collection. The kitchen was sheer job as were the meals on the deck. Dear Bob and Jana,
We just wanted to take a moment to thank you for opening Laurel Ridge up to welcome our family. The kids were out of shcool so we decided to make a long weekend out of it. We knew the weather had been warm and therefore weren't expecting to catch the peak of fall colors. However we still enjoyed our visit to the NC moumtains.
Your lovely home was the best part of the trip! We've been to the mountains the past few years but actually being able to stay in such a beautiful home verses a hotel room, well there really just aren't enough words. Our whole family enjoyed it from the beautiful decor to the Chinese checkers.
Our trip consisted of a drive up, a short tour on the Blue Ridge Parkway, including a visit to Mt. Mitchell, and then our arrival at Laurel Ridge. It worked out so well that we were able to eat breakfast and dinners there without the hectic pace of going to find somewhere to eat. We visited the waterfall at Gateway Mt and also the Black Mt shops and an orchard to buy apples. All in all, we had a wonderful relaxing weekend. Thanks you so much for everything. We look forward to visiting Laurel Ridge again. Sincerely, Bob, Eirene, Patrick and Rebecca Ferguson

Wow!! What a week. Thank you so much for sharing your mountain cabin with my family. We enjoyed all the special touches that you left behind for us (the chocolates were so yummy).
We found Gateway Mountain/Old Fort to be centrally located for our many points of adventure. Our vacaion started with a visit to Black Mountain and ended with a trip to Chimney Rock. We will have to come back to this beautiful area for the weather did not cooperate when we made our trip to Grandfather Mt (the clouds rolled in just as we arrived). The recommendation to locate the waterfalls was a big hit with our 3 1/2 year old daughter. She loved it! Many Thanks, Don, Becky, Madison, Roxy and Max

What a great place to celebrate our 10th anniversary! We had the most relaxing time at Laurel Ridge. There was nothing that you did not think of- your attention to detail was amazing and truly made us feel welcome and at home. The champagne was a lovely touch!
This cabin is perfect for those who want privacy and the feeling of being all alone on the mountain. We could hear the occasional car traveling near us, but the view surrounding us was of trees and mountain and beautiful skies. This cabin is also centrally located to all of the great places to visit while in the area.
Just a side note- the first drive to the house is a little scary. You don't think you are going to make it up the gravel roads, but you will! Jeff and I did it everyday in a non-4WD vehicle! Just added a little excitement to our trip : ) Very important, as you indicated, try to make the first trip during the day so that you can see better!
We would recommend eating at the Red Rocker Inn, in Black Mountain- rated as expensive, but the meals can be taken home in doggy bags and heated- just as good the 2nd time around! Well worth it. Also, a little spot called the Trainwatcher Cafe in Old Fort is cute- service is slow, but the area is lovely and the people are nice to spend time with. Try the Brandy Special- fabulous!!
Thanks again Jana- your emails have really made us feel appreciated. Good luck with everything. Fondly, Jeff and Erinn Doyle |

We were fortunate enough to see the most beautiful sunset through the western clearing while we were grilling on the deck. Minutes later an incredible full moon was shining on us from the east. Reflections of the past week at the mountain retreat.
Peaceful... the sounds of the birds was just the right sound to hear and restore the soul. The cool night air and open windows brought back childhood memories of the summertime. Exploring the town of Black Mountain including open air concerts on the town green, a concert in the arts center, the Seven Sister's gallery, dinner at the Cellar Door. All of these places exemplified the hospitality of this area.
Asheville is a short drive away and had its share of adventures also. We rode our touring bikes for 10 miles on the Blue Ridge Parkway, climbing a mountain and riding as free as we wished down the other side. All the while stopping when we wanted to enjoy where we were. That is what we aspired to do this week... to enjoy where we were.
I believe we accomplished what we set out to do. Thanks you for sharing your space.

It was the perfect anniversary weekend "get-away" We both loved your cabin and I have to tell you, we have rented many properties in the NC mountains, from Boone to Maggie Valley, and yours is by far the nicest and most well equipped.
When we arrived on Friday night we had dinner at My Father's Pizza - a must for each time we visit Black Mountain. Saturday evening we celebrated our anniversary with dinner at the Red Rocker Inn in Black Mountain - the food and service were both wonderful and the price was in the moderate range. It was very enjoyable and I would definitely recommend it for special occasions.
Thanks you again for sharing your cabin with us and we look forward to visiting again soon.

Dear Jana and Bob, What a treat it has been to stay here at Laurel Ridge! This week of a changeful Spring season has been a delight. A full moon on 4/23 seen through the lace of tree branches; snow on Sunday 4/24; cloudless days and intermittent spring showers and the last.. a show of lightning, thunder and brief hail, now concluded with a residual chorus of frogs and crickets churping! Lovely for us city folk to experience.
Your lovely cabin here is so graciously appointed and stocked! Thank you for the videos, the spa baskets in the bathrooms, the books and chinese checkers, the biscotti!! and scented candles! Truly a wonderful and welcome retreat.
As we sadly cast our eyes at our waiting suitcases, and think of the workweek ahead, we want you both to know that Laural Ridge and your hospitality have been greatly appreciated!

| We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your mountain cabin! It is very nicely furnished and the decor is beautiful. It's such a quiet and peaceful setting and the views are spectacular, particularly the twinkling of the lights below at night. The Gateway Mountain area is beautiful as well. The waterfall and picnic areas were great. We wish we had more time to spend on some of the hiking trails in the neighborhood. We visited the Biltmore Estate which was so interesting that we went back for a 2nd day. We also enjoyed shopping in the quaint shops of Black Mountain. My son's favorite part was the 4 deer we saw out the cabin window early one morning. Thanks again for all of your hospitality and all of the extras you provided to make our stay so comfortable. |

We enjoyed our week at your cabin. It is absolutely beautiful and worth the drive up! Great views and so peaceful. Would love to visit again and experience all of the seasons. I think the highlight of the trip for our son was seeing four deer outside the cabin! The lake area and waterfall areas are beautiful. Thanks for all of the extras and hospitality!

This cabin is simply marvelous! My husband and I, along with a couple of our closest friends celebrated New Year's at the cabin. We collectively agree that it was the best New Year's weekend we had ever experienced! (And we are from Miami, FL)
The cabin is very isolated with a gorgeous view of the mountains, perfect for a peaceful getaway. At night we enjoyed the show as the stars came alive. During the day we enjoyed the adventurous drive to a gorgeous waterfall and lake located right in Gateway Mountain.
The cabin itself felt like a home away from home. From the fully equipped kitchen, stunning bathrooms and beautiful décor it was a perfect compliment to the architecture of this house.
All I can say is Beautiful; this is truly a magnificent place, with breathtaking views.
This cabin is genuinely special; we will definitely be renting there again!

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves over the holidays and your mountain cabin is absolutely beautiful! I will definitely leave comments in the next few days but want to thank you for being such gracious hosts. It's obvious that you put a lot of thought into making the cabin a comfortable home away from home, as we found everything we could want or need. While we spent a lot of time seeing the area, we could have just as easily have been happy had we never left the cabin.
Thank you as well for the shopping and eating recommendaions. We found a few really neat places and would love to visit again in the future; perhaps even summer or fall when more areas are open. This was one of the best family vacaions we've had and I appreaciate everything and look forward to our next stay in Laurel Ridge.

We enjoyed Christmas in your wonderful cabin. There were so many little extras that made the cabin so warm and cozy. We especially enjoyed the twinkling lights at night. What a view! We have spent Christmas in the mountains, now we must go to the flatlands where we hear there is snow.. most unusual. Thanks for everything.

How exciting to be the first to stay in this lovely mountain cabin! It feels like entering a warm home. Thank you for all of the special touches to pamper us during our stay. We visited Biltmore and Black Mountain. We ate at the French Quarter Cafe and the food was very good. Your kitchen was wonderful to cook in and we enjoyed our meal cooked here, too along with a bottle of Biltmore wine. Thank you! Hint: It gets foggy very quickly here. It is best to be at the cabin by dark if fog is approaching. We wish we lived closer so we could visit this wonderful cabin often. We loved it!
